So i've been playing the game as a goodie. I always love helping people out, if someone gives me the option to let them keep the money.. sometimes, i usually let them keep it in case they can use it to help their kids or family.

So i usually get very involed in the tasks and help as much.

I guess the game had to remind me after a quest, by showing me a short clip of witchers... how they just don't get involved, take the money, and leave.

Soooooo... is this like DMC unlocking easy mode after you die a bunch of times? haha I guess the game is telling me i am playing the game wrong.

Got the Emerald Dust and made my sword set finally. One side quest left to go in White Orchard and then it's just all Main Story and POI discovering. Mission givers really know how to make you feel like an ass. I did the
Devil By The Well
and ended up not taking the reward because of the story about where it came from.

Nah, you can do that. But it is the main way to make money, at least early on. You also won't get anything for taking the altruistic route, just self-satisfaction.

Well, fuck,
I don't know what to choose
during the Whispering Hillock quest. This game stresses me out.

Whatever you choose it will end poorly for someone, so go with your gut.

Well, look into your inventory you hopefully got some books. A bit reading could help you decide.
It's "She Who Knows"

I think people are vastly overestimating the value and veracity of this book.
Ciri's version differs a lot

Fuck me.
I don't know why you guys complain about loot that is below your level. I just did a quest 7 levels above mine and got a piece an armor out of it that I can'T wear for another 10 levels.

Same for me - just hit level 13, and got plans to make level 42 weapons... o0

Lol, all the people on last page who think the Baron quest is a side-quest.

If A) it's about finding Ciri and B) it's listed as "main story" in the quest log, chances are... well.

IIRC the original post in this conversation was only about the
'go back to get the Crones with the Baron'
part of the quest, which is basically a side-quest follow up to the first 3/4s of the Baron's quest. (Which is definitely main quest.)

It leads to a lot of bad results, but I find myself taking the choices that lead to being able to see what's going on. Like with the whispering hillock quest, I decided to perform the ritual because I just wanted to see what happened. Had I ended it right there I wouldn't be able to see what it became. The result was interesting, to say the least, but at least I got to see it!

Anywho, I turned off POIs the other day and I've found the game to be immensely more enjoyable.

If anyone has done the quests involving the Baron and the three
witches
, then read this book I found in the game.

I love this stuff!
I just randomly found this in a house and it explains who the forest spirit was under the oak tree, who I ended up releasing. Nice bit of back story. It makes me feel even worse that I released her. Although, seeing the orphans again at the school was great.

I feel like when your choice is between
a mysterious creature trapped in a weirdly-pulsating tree, and three obviously creepy-as-fuck witches, it's hard to feel good about either choice. That said, I freed him because I figured I could deal with him later if need be, and I kinda wanted to piss off the crones.

You can find one:

In the tomb under the Dragonmount in Velen near the Crookback Bog.

That is one of 3 possible drops of ekimmra hides. I didn't get one from killing my first ekimmara, yet you need at least 3 hides to make various potions, such b.s. If I had known ekimmaras were so limited, I would have reloaded my save game until a hide dropped.

Other location is in Novigrad with the Following the Thread quest. Final one is the level 22 Witcher contract at the Byways

My Ending, dont click if you havent finished the main quest:

I'm not sure how she did it, but Ciri stopped the White Frost. She is believed dead by the Emperor and became a Witcher.
Radovid is dead, and Redania was overrun by the Empire. Temeria on the other hand is self-governing, while still ultimately a vassal of the Empire.
Geralt is also still on the path, doing what a Witcher does best. Hunting.

Yen decided to stay in the north and there was no mention of Triss at all. I feel like I missed something there. I romanced them both and had the "threesome" scene but nothing else happened after that. I thought I would have to choose between them but it never came up. Did I miss a conversation/quest or something?

I think I got the "best" ending considering, and overall the ending was satisfying. This is how you finish a trilogy. Well done, CDPR.

Now I'm going back on the path. Too many hunts I put off.

Lord, this game is gorgeous.

I was referencing the latter part where you can
go back to the swamp to find his wife and meet the 3 Crones
. Wasn't there an option to say no and just move forward? I might be mistaken and I often am. Either way, main quest or side quest, it's one of the best I've ever played.

Is there a point to the horse racing quests?

I found the whole system fucking awful tbh, you just need to have lots of stamina and be careful the horse gps doesn't send you the wrong way when there's two path crossing.

Is that really it?

Welp, reading that I think I made the better choice in my eyes.
Killed it and saved more people that way.

Catching up with this thread.

I made this video specifically for people struggling with the basics of combat:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFm5qHBRcuU

Basically, become so comfortable with dodging and positioning that you can survive indefinitely without attacking on whatever enemy you're facing. I recommend practicing on easier enemies first. While doing this, feel them out. How do they attack? What are their tells? Which ways do you need to dodge/roll to avoid getting hit? Once you reach that stage, start throwing in single swings and dodge out. Next, try mixing in signs to create openings where you can do 2-3 swings before dodging/rolling out. Once you've got that down, you'll probably be in a good place to really take down whichever enemy was giving you trouble. What you learn from practicing these basics will help you with the more advanced enemies like the griffin.

It's fine as long as you don't sprint everywhere and that you get used to using walk to readjust which way you're looking.

Good tips.

What?
Is the storyline not finished? Wow, amazing. I would say I can't wait to find out, but I will, since there are so many other quests still to work on >_<

Yes. But you also can block people with your butt butt

I've been holding off on sailing over there because I certainly don't need anymore ?s on my map, but damn if it doesn't look amazing.

You are in for a treat when you do. There is such a totally different (and amazing) vibe to Skellige. It adds to being in a 'world' that much more. The sense of place in this game is incredible.

I just thought it was very interesting that the game had to play a short cut scene of what a witcher is. haha

I've abstained from watching any videos of this game for location spoilers, I have no idea what Skillege looks like, can't wait to get there.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
About a decision in Witcher 2 and if it affects anything in Witcher 3 regarding Triss...

Does choosing to
save Saskia over Triss impact their relationship in any way? Not just in Witcher 2, but in Witcher 3 as well? Is she upset about it? I guess she wouldn't know that he chose to save Saskia anyways. I know that Triss gets saved by Letho regardless of what you do, so seems like it'd be better to free Saskia. I don't know if she's in the Witcher 3 at all, though.

Decision doesn't affect much with triss in w2 or w3 really. Choosing Saskia is a more interesting path in w2 and I recommend it, triss won't hold a grudge because you chose to prioritize stopping the evil plot over saving her. i don't think any w2 decision has any sway on your relationship decisions in W3 if that is your concern

I was the wrong one. This is an unfortunate turn of events.

Holy shit, I picked up that book but never read it.

I freed it, too, but I'm certain it's going to come back in on another side quest or something. It was just too unique.

Also where are the
orphans?
I've got no idea what you're referring to there, and I'm 15-20 hours past that mission!

Hilariously, I did another quest nearby not long after I finished that one, and in the background the black
horse
appeared during dialogue and began running around madly into walls, fences and trees :p

Oh.

I was the wrong one. This is an unfortunate turn of events.

Happens to the best of us!

(And some people did seem to be referring to more of the Baron's quest as side content :p )

That is interesting, I didn't realize it would do that. It does it after the Baron quest too to tell you that things would have turned out differently based on your choices, to remind people that choices matter.

What?

Yes. But you also can block people with your butt butt

Yep, there's a bit more, though it's not really in any way connected to the choice you make, just a bit of extra lore.

Holy shit, I picked up that book but never read it.

I've got no idea what you're referring to there, and I'm 15-20 hours past that mission!

They are in a
school
in the outskirts of Novigrad.

Also don't believe everything you read in a book you found in a swamp.

Ah that's great, thanks for the information. :) It's my first time playing through W2 to prepare for W3, lol.

So i know people complain about the combat. But the more i play, the more satisfied i am with it. Last night i took on 2 wyverns and then 1 royal wyvern. It was an epic fight. Then a giant basilisk came and annihilated me. haha

The game feels very natural tho. Like i do feel i am part of the narrative, and also like i am having adventures as a witcher. I dunn think many games have achieved that imo. Specially on a big open world style game.

Loving every second of it.

Dunno where to check my time played on ps4.

60 hours played and I just realized there were two other currencies that have to be converted to be usable. Got over three grand in an instant. And I purged myself of all the books I was carrying. The usable items inventory was just unmanageable with all of them in there.
