The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT2| Wanted to find Ciri, but everything Gwent wrong

I know this is off-topic but I'd rather not devote a whole new thread to it. Basically, I'm playing The Witcher 2 after a long absence. I noticed I don't have a silver sword, which means I likely sold it and forgot (I last played the game 4 years ago). I'm on chapter 1, in Floatsam.

1. Is there somewhere I can buy a silver sword? None of the shops have it.
2. Is there a place I can mine silver ore to craft a silver sword?

Again, sorry for the derail. Its just that my lack of a silver sword has made the game quite difficult. I'm itching to beat 2 so I can buy 3.

It's a story line reason you have no sword.

Think a quest might have bugged on me or something. It's Get Junior and I
cleared out the casino, hideout, and arena. Trying to talk to Dijkastra but both of his doors are locked.

What do I do?

And once again I have to say that alt Axii is way overpowered. Just cleared the Lv. 24 quest for the weapon smith with Lv. 9. One guy killed all the rest and then I just kept him under my control while I wailed on him for two minutes straight. Lmao

Using it as intended.

Back at the beginning of OT1, quite a lot of hardcore fans and RPG players were talking about how they were literally spending 30-60 minutes just taking in the scenery and being immersed. I'm assuming they also walked everywhere and explored every inch (literally every inch) of available countryside.

I can't imagine how these people will handle Skellige.

I really don't like the whole "You can only have 9 skills activated" at all.

Its just too limiting. I should be able to upgrade as much as I want or at the very least have enough slots to where I can pick more than like 3 skills out of each branch.

yea, the arbitrary limits to upgrading is pretty annoying.

If I remember correctly it doesn't give you an indicator where he is and I had no idea where his bath house was, so I just went ahead with the connecting quest to go talk to roche, and you'll eventually see him again to talk to him.

For the quest Of Swords and Dumplings, the npc is never in his dumpling shop for me after I helped him. Am I missing something?

Yep.

And when I said 30-60 minutes I meant literally over 100 square yards of White Orchard. These were people walking a little bit, stopping for 5 minutes, walking a little more, stopping for 5 minutes...

I think if CDPR had been more transparent about the system nobody would complain. If they made it clear when you first see the screen that you'll never get enough points to upgrade everything and that you should pick your preferred strategies and abilities early on and build into this, a lot of the irritation surrounding the slot restriction would melt away.

It's more build-focused than most RPGs – I guess this is another parallel with Souls or Bloodborne (though I know how much a lot of people hate this comparison).

Gwent AI seems to be a bit buggy. Second match in a row where the enemy just threw away the second round even though they have a card more than me.

I like that. That gives personality to everyone's build. You have to think and decide how your playstyle will be, instead of just ramping up passives.

This game seriously needs enemy scaling. I'm doing side quests like a man possessed and I'm really worried that I'm going to out-level the main story by too much. I'm in the thrust of Oxenfurt and Novigrad quests, but I'm already level 12 and Skellige is level 16 :|

Holy shit is the horse racing bad. Just been going through all of my secondary quests and got to this one.

Yeah, I didn't enjoy the horse racing at all. It's really all about managing your stamina correctly at the very end of the race.

Also doesn't help that Roach is stupid

So I keep getting coins that say I have to turn them in... Where exactly? And do they have exchange rates? Since they are different.

There's a guy in Novigrad that does the exchanges. Not sure about the rates though, as when I found him I just said "Yes" to the exchanging stuff and got a bunch of crowns in return.

The limitation makes sense when you look at the mutagen system and how insane the buffs really are. With a greater blue mutagen I get +20% sign intensity for just one sign skill slotted in.

Enemy scaling is barf. Remember Oblivion?
Don't worry, the reason you get so little exp for killing stuff and side missions is, so you don't level up too much. Only the main story and contracts give a lot of exp. So worry not and slaughter to your hearts fullest.

It gets better when one of your competitors bugs out :D
But yeah, horse races were kinda boring. Fist fighting and Gwetn are superb though.

I don't mind the slots but having to have a certain amount of skill points to unlock the other things slows me way down on what I want.

thankfully, you can respec once you have one of those special potions.

So I just finished the contract for
'The Shrieker' and finally got to claiming my reward, I ended up forfeiting the reward since the creature took the child's parents from him.

Amazing how the game makes you think twice.

Edited - For clarity.

How much XP am I missing out on with not playing Gwent? I'm about 30 hours in and haven't even won a match, though in truth I've only played that tutorial one.

Don't have
a marker to talk to Roche. I'll try and find the bath house on my own, I suppose. He's probably there

You miss out all the XP. Like every single one. So get back to your Qwent deck and slap some merchants with it.

First check-in with this thread-- I'm loving the game. Some days I don't let myself start because I know I'll be at it for hours and I don't always have the time.

Just did the Wild at Heart secondary quest, was a tough decision
, wish I'd have let the werewolf have his vengeance before putting him out of his misery

Help. My sprint key has stopped working on Roach. Tried rebinding/swapping to toggle. reached a part of the game where I need my horse and I'm screwed. Won't even canter!
On PC fwiw. Anyone seen this bug?

Oh my god! Alternate Axii sign is broken.

Level 9, cleared an entire camp of 17-18 bandits with 60% sign intensity by doing nothing but mind controlling the closest bandit. Just watch them slaughter each other.

Who knew Death March would only get easier?

Can't you just sprint and then try and block them while you recover? They usually wait behind me I thought.

No issues here... they usually stumble behind you as they can't really pass. Also, i had a saddle that gave me like 35+ stamina. Right around the bend i would slow down to let it recover, and followed a bridge that left little room for them to pass me. Then run home the rest of the way.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
But yeah, horse races were kinda boring. Fist fighting and Gwetn are superb though.

When does fist fighting get good? All my opponents have been incredibly basic and none have landed a single punch on me due to how broken countering and even just wailing on them endlessly has been. They last 10 seconds and it feels completely pointless.

At least it isn't rough or frustrating like horse racing though for sure. Both of these activities are lacking. Only Gwent is superb.

They don't. But hey. at least you get some good money out of it, if you bet double.

I helped him negotiate with the thugs for the iron. After, the tracker tells me to meet him back in his shop.
may have to try and change the time of day? Also I remember you have to go up to his front door and there will be an action button to knock on his door to start a cut-scene

If i remember correctly you have to go to the northwest side of that plateau and you should be able to jump up from there.

The one in October is supposed to be 10+ hours and focuses on Oxenfurt so it's probably using a lot of existing assets.

However the one for next year is supposed to be 20+ hours long (ie Witcher 2 sized) and takes place in an entirely new area of the world (Toussaint).

And CDPR, if anything, low-balled their content estimates on Witcher 3 so I am more than inclined to believe the above numbers. 30+ hours of new content would definitely be old school expansion worthy.

That's good to hear, and of course I'm hopeful. Mostly trying not to think about expansions too much because it's a long way off and there's still plenty of W3 to do.

Look around. You'll find a way.

As for archers, hold X and runs towards them. They're very easy to kill with fast attacks and won't put up much defense in close quarters. Use Quen too. I wouldn't waste ability points on the ability to parry arrows.

I just got this game-breaking motherfucker for killing
chort
during "Mysterious Tracks" contract:

It basically stun-locks every monster it hits, except maybe those which can't be stunned, if there are any. Fix this shit CDPR!

Btw, I switched my game to english to take this screen for you and played for a while. Holy shit, polish voice acting is so much better, I encourage everyone to at least give it a try.

Enemies start using fast jabs once you get to Skellige - those can be very hard to counter.

However, it just means you have to keep you distance instead as they only throw slow hooks out when they're a few feet away. Adds some depth as you have to then take distance into consideration but not much.

So there is a bandit camp in velen with a fast travel point. A person is in a cage but I can't find a key. Is it quest related somehow because usually the key is on some bandit...
