Nobody ruins my family vacation but me...and maybe the boy!
That race was epic. It's always hilarious when a crash turns the race upside down.

Anyone notice Google really messing up with the medals/etc? I freaked a little when they said Finland beat Canada 3-0 in women's hockey.. then luckily I saw the highlights. They're also very slow to update as they don't have Norway's gold and silver in x-country up yet..

Am I the only one who has the urge to rock back and forth with the skaters in this event (500m)?

Those cross country sprints are good to watch. Crazy racing.

Here's where Norway starts piling up the medals. All those cross country events.

Canada lost again in curling?

Does anyone else find this embarrassing?

The win against Germany was more embarrassing than this loss to Sweden, lol. The loss to Switerland was pretty bad too. Jacobs are team are still not playing to their potential though, after that epic run at the trials in December.

Biathlon (women's pursuit) in 10 minutes. This will be nasty in turns with slushy snow and with minimal differences (30 seconds between 2nd and 20th place)

Swiss and Sweden are top contenders, so it shouldn't be a big surprise. Jacobs himself is curling well, it's the rest of his team choking. Canada really has to beat the teams they're supposed to beat now. Miss the medal round and then it's embarrassing.

Here's where the selection process gets questioned again. Jacobs is 7th on WCT money list, but he wins the olympic trials tournament and gets to represent. Arguably, there are 6 Canadian teams better than him, including world champs and gold medalists. But that's the way Canada has chosen to pick the representative, so a rookie team wins the one big event and gets to go.

I have no problem with the Jacobs selection, he is both the 2013 Brier champion and obviously won the trials to get here, and he had to make it through the qualifying rounds too. He went undefeated at the trials, I believe, which is extremely impressive. In fact, neither perennial favourites Kevin Martin or Glenn Howard even made it out of their province this year to qualify for the Brier.

Ultimately, all of the top Canadian teams can win at the international level when they're playing at their best, so the key is being able to deliver on the big day. So far Jacobs and team have been struggling a bit, but they've more than proven their abilities to pull it off.

I will never understand how out of all the winter games, biathlon is the weird one.

The way it is shown on NBC does not help the situation. They cut out huge chunks and make it unbelievably confusing. It doesn't help that commentators suck. It is important to watch it live.

That's true. Things can change incredibly fast, which is what makes it so watchable imo.

Just so you know I didn't mean to 'insult' the sport at all, hope you understand what I'm saying. It's just not big here and you hardly hear about it. But with the Olympics everyone is able to watch stuff like curling, bobsled/luge, ski jump, biathlon, and I love that.

I'm also curious about the history of the sport; the winter games just give me a good dose of nostalgia every time because I remember back to when I would play the Winter Olympics on my cousins old Apple II.

I didnt take it as an insult at all:) . You're not the only one to say the same thing which is why I said anything at all. Different perspectives etc.

Edit: Go Tora!
