Can someone explain to me how the Team Pursuit qualifications work?
A Final for gold and silver, B final for bronze, and C and D finals for ranking?
It seems like there is a very obvious home field advantage in hosting (you get to practice on the equipment...and I think you get more qualifiers per event?).
They had to sell Darya Domracheva, Iouri Podladtchikov and Anastasiya Kuzmina to afford them though. And it will only even out if Wild wins one more gold.Vic Wild, Victor Ahn. Who else did Russia buy to get all these gold medals?![]()
Holy shit Canada is murdering GBR in Curling. That is one lopsided final.
Edit and that's that Canada sweeps Curling. Hockey on Sunday and we are good.
Wait tell me that wasn't pre recorded. I have a sneaking suspicion I am about to feel stupid.

I think they should really start to curb using foreign nationals on these teams. I think a good way to curb it is to say that once you compete in the Olympics for one country, you must compete for that country unless that country does not exist anymore. That article mentioned above says that the Canadian breakman has been on 3 different teams. That guy is pretty much just a mercenary. Olympics shouldn't be about that.
IOC has repeatedly mentioned "with no official complaint, no 'petition' will have any impact"
Well just an hour ago, Korean Olympic Committee has sent in the official complaint letter to the IOC mentioning the shame felt by the decision. It asks for an action to be done according to the IOC measures and to announce their official position.

At the end of the day it's all about the athletes. Viktor Ahn has won 4 medals(3 gold and 1 bronze) at these games. South Korea didn't pick him in 2010. If he believes he is as good as he is, is he supposed to just give up his dream?
Haha no worries. I mentioned earlier in the thread I feel the networks should be putting the word LIVE in the corner during broadcasts so people know because a lot of people have been confused about what events are live and not, myself included. I know at least CBC in Canada don't do it.I spent today closed off from the world and happened to tune in when I thought the next day should be starting. I do feel like an asshat though.
Thanks for making me feel better. 0_o
Looks a bit like it, yes.Norway is going to own the 3 mil, I can feel it.
Of all the sports it does seem like it's the best to be snowboarders. They are often smiling, you see comradery between the guys and girls and even when they crash they can sometimes still be happy for each other. Maybe that's all for show, but it's still a far cry from all the hate and anger that seem to be there for skating and short track.
There definitely are legitimate reasons for people to feel that Kim deserved gold. The lack of formal complaint doesn't annul that. There's no point lodging a complaint without actual evidence of wrongdoing. In the 2002 scandal, the complaint was lodged by an official who spoke to the judge who privately admitted to being pressured into scoring the Russian pair higher. Or look at any other sports scandal. Plenty of decidedly unfair results slip by because without actual evidence, the results won't be changed.
I think it's the best to be a speed skater because they get a gazillion events and if you're decent in one, you're probably decent in most of them.
These girls are in beast mode on a good day.
As regards the judge picture. It's not all that unusual for officals to congratulate competitors after an event. As I understand it Sotnikova once she found out she won hugged a number of people including coaches, staff, judges and even other competitors. But of course lets forget that she's a 17 year old girl whose just won Olympic Gold despite the odds in favour of her hugging that one Russian judge because it happens to fit the 'corruption' scenario.
Very impressed by the Norwegian girls, but the lack of suspense made the event a snore fest to watch. Looking forward to the 50 km event tomorrow and of course the event that matters the most - hockey finals!![]()
Spoiler - I'm Swedish
Agreed, I expected at least Bjørgen and Johaug on the podium. Steira was the biggest surprise. Kudos to Kalla for not quitting when it was clear that she wouldn't get a medal. The two only real contenders either had a broken foot (kowalcyk) or was sick just a coulle days ago (kalla) so it wasn't very surprising

Snowboarding has a laid back attitude about it just like surfing. The snowboard and ski bums create a sort of party culture about it. Your on the slopes during the day and then often drinking partying at night. I think because it is this way in small ski towns the attitude stays with the competitors even once they become professionals. There are a lot of hated dude bro types (on GAF) that live in ski towns. It is an awesome sport to participate in.Of all the sports it does seem like it's the best to be snowboarders. Hugging doesn't mean anything - a judge deviating wildly in scoring does, however. And according to sources an official complaint has now been lodged.
Reports seem to vary on that front and it was a 'protest letter' according to some, which isn't necessarily cause for an investigation, but might perhaps relieve the KSU from fan pressure to be seen to do something at their end. Still personally I'd be down with an investigation if that's what's required to put some closure on the matter. I don't think the result is likely to change, and South Korea will just come out looking like butt sore losers from it all (which will bode well for them at the next games), but I dare say then the accusation would be that the investigating committee got it wrong.
The same personality type that goes pro in running? I'm sure you can have a lot more fun in a pair of sneakers than running 40 kms ;-)I always wonder who decides to go pro in crosscountry skiing. It's by far the least amount of fun you can have on skis.

Three out of four match officials in the hockey final are Canadians with the fourth being an American that happens to have Canadian citizenship? How did that happen?
