I never understand ski slalom... There's a bunch of flags, they go around some of them and ignore others... It all look so random.
I believe today was the first day the US failed to medal.
Apparently the Canadians and Slovenians are filing a protest for the men's ski cross event. According to them, the French skiers (who swept the podium) were wearing illegally aerodynamic suits... :lol
I doubt anything would come of this, but if the French are DQ'd a Canadian would be elevated to gold and a Slovenian to bronze
WaPo said:SOCHI, Russia — The Court of Arbitration for Sport says Canada and Slovenia have asked that France’s freestyle skicross podium sweep at the Olympics be thrown out because of suit adjustments.
The court says the countries allege French team staffers changed the shaping of the ahtletes’ ski pants for better aerodynamics.
The event’s rules prohibit athletes from altering their uniforms for aerodynamic purposes.
So what in the world is NBC showing me here?
People skating? Looks pretty cool right?
Edit: Damn that's a big track
I was talking about that 20 minute mini documentary about some girl. ( I was a little behind )...
We have less medals than the Netherlands. We're behind the Netherlands.
Maybe this will finally shake things up over here.

It's amazing how much worse we seem to get at the Olympics. Our entire sports promotion system is fucked. It's one big beaureaucratic system.
I just saw a commercial for Heroes Reborn on NBC in 2015. That's a thing?!
What is this ice skating event?
What is this ice skating event?
Is there a point to it? I don't get it
I don't mind your success, the Netherlands are great. Wonderful country, nice people, better you than the US. What I mind is that we spend millions on sports promotion and TV coverage and I have to endure our commentators hyping our athletes, only for (most of) them to fail.
I think the last two Olympics (Sotchi/London) have been our worst.
What country are you from, if you don't mind me asking?
I'm gonna guess Germany. Germany's done relatively pooryl these Olympics, and they've been circling the drain in the summer olympics too. They used to be a powerhouse. Dunno what's going wrong - I guess all that East Germany sports magic has finally just about petered out.
Canada was pretty shitty till the "Own the Podium" campaign made us wake up and start investing in our athletes(at least the winter games, we still blow at the summer games). Maybe the Germans need something similar of their own.
we'd been on the upswing since Nagano. the genesis of our improvement was probably the calgary games in 88 - gave us some much needed facilities. it also helps that the Olympics have added a ton of extreme sports in the past 16 years because we still do lousy in the traditional events (X-country skiing, alpine. etc)

Sotnikova did not do a nearly world record-tying run, there's nothing in her program suggesting it.

According to many top figure skaters including Elvis Stojko and many others, apparently she did.
.
I could pull up a article that says the exact opposite thing, and many top figure skaters like Katarina Witt also felt Yuna Queen was underscored.
The scoring given to Yuna (who did 6) fails to prove Asada did more difficult routines than anyone(8 jumps) and she was beaten by 7 points or Carolina who did as much as the russian skater and more cleaner.
Not going to bother with this again, and if you search yuna kim on google, google gives you Yuna Queen![]()
Compare the results here: -

Asada scored great on the triple Axel, but the follow ups weren't great in terms of the scoring. She got a neutral score for Triple loop Triple flip & an execution markdown for the Triple lutz. She was probably so relieved that she made the landing after the fall the day before that she wasn't was focused as she should of been.
Sotnikova performed solidly across all of her routine in terms of scoring, save where she stumbled and got the -0.9 markdown.

We should send our athletes to Norway for a little "Cultural" exchange. Then 4 years later, they show up at the Olympics like "sup bitches!"
Not sure why you clipped the part of his post that more or less says that is not his argument.
Asada's scoring has been mentioned before too:
If you don't want to bother with this then why reply at all?
I'm not sure why you replied to me necessarily? My post was directed to Peru who said that no one believes the Russian figure skater deserved that score. I said that many believe she racked up the points with her routine due to the new scoring system and that's why it was so high. I even noted in my original post, no one is really questioning the score of the Russian figure skater, as opposed to questioning the score of Yuna Kim who many believed should have been higher. Even the article I posted believed her score could have been higher. So what essentially is your argument with me? And why do I care what Google has her name as if you search?
Norway has had such a rollercoaster Games, but it just shows how dominant they are when they're still at (or near) the top. The camaraderie among the athletes is also something you don't see with other national teams.
I was pulling for them in curling, though.![]()
Apparently Marit Bjørgen, who won 3 gold medals in Sochi has tested positive for a doping substance. This could mean that she gets her 3 gold medals taken away:

Edit: nevermind, apparently it's a joke or something...
Russia have clinched first place in the medal table, ranked by either golds or total medals.
