Selling over a million copies for a 6 year old game isn't bad no matter how much people like you want to down play it.Yes, and it didn't make a big splash on Playstation either.

It's undeniable: Xbox is now a third-party publisher. Games that would have once been siloed on Xbox consoles are now on Steam and evenPlayStation.
This is fantastic for gamers (more people can enjoy Xbox games) and Xbox devs (their art reaches more people). But it's also great – no,critical – for Xbox. The brand has frankly been struggling on the console front due to stagnating Xbox Game Pass numbers.
Xbox's plan was always to shift from a box to a brand, and we're almost there. More and more Xbox games are coming to PlayStation, includingsome big ones next month with Forza...

1.8M after a year. Amazing.Close to 2 million now going by this.

1.8M after a year. Amazing.
They sold 1+M of those after the first 4 months.

Xbox published Sea of Thieves reportedly surpasses 1m sales on PlayStation 5
The once Xbox console exclusive Sea of Thieves has reportedly sold in excess of 1m copies on PlayStation 5. Plenty of sales and sails, really!www.eurogamer.net
How many of those 1.8M are likely double-dipping former Xbox fans?'not terrible', lol.
Other than GTA V, how many games are selling ~2 million units in year 6 and 7?
How many of those 1.8M are likely double-dipping former Xbox fans?
And we're not even talking about HiFi Rush (137K) and Pentiment (14K), two of the best Xbox games in recent years, if Xbox fans are to be believed.
Sure, but 1.8M after a year is poor regardless. Why does that matter?
No one asked you how many of those 23K TLoU Steam CCU you keep talking about are former double dipping PS fans.
It's an irrelevant question to the point at hand.
Since you guys are so hung up on reviewscores.Who said Pentiment is one of the "biggest Xbox games", name and quote those fans.
Sure, but 1.8M after a year is poor regardless.
SoT is an ongoing live service game, labeled one of the best Xbox games by the Xbox community and completely new to the PS fanbase.
Since you guys are so hung up on reviewscores.

If the Xbox fans would've busted MS balls years ago, instead of hyping up mediocrity, it wouldn't have gotten to this point.
Why you people continue to engage with others that have set agendas is beyond me
None, because only Xbox needs to even try and sell those games after all that time to stay alive. It's poor if you can name me a few other games that sell 1.8 million in their 7th year.
I'll wait.
I don't, but it's easier to find than individual posts.lol, now you care about review scores.
If review scores were a determining factor in a games sales, there's a dozen or so indie games like Blue Prince released just this year which would be chart toppers, not your Monster Hunters or Assassin's Creeds.
It was just ported to a PS3 with a higher res/fps. Oblivion is a PC game that can run at higher res/framerate on newer hardware already. It even got xbox one X enhancements already in much the same way meaning it has an even later gen "remaster". We are talking about a remake though.God of War has already had a remaster, a pretty good one at that.

This is the first time Oblivion is getting a new release since its PS3 version came out ~18 years ago.
It's really not the same thing. Also, kinda weird that you keep pushing the "some people" narrative, a good portion of the people criticizing things like TLoU's many re-release are all primary PlayStation users, so you keep trying to turn this into a console thing is pretty telling of where you're coming from.![]()
So a 6 year old XBox One game sell as good (if not better) than a state of the art and GOTY 2024 Astrobot *rollseyes*It's not terrible, but it
1.8M after a year. Amazing.
Barking up the wrong tree.So a 6 year old XBox One game sell as good (if not better) than a state of the art and GOTY 2024 Astrobot *rollseyes*
God of war is a 2005 game that was way more popular and very well regarded too.
Demons Souls remake did not get a good reception from a lot of people. You clearly don't remember people calling it a PS3 game they already played
just as you were blind to the post with the most likes in the thread I posted regarding GoW suggesting it had a good reception when that rumour didn't.
Sure, but 1.8M after a year is poor regardless.

Or do they not count this time and you start flipflopping again?

Imo, Astro Bot is a glorified tech-demo, so you agree with me that Xbox' best is competing with Playstation's B-tier output?
Eh I kinda do agree with him, I got hyped up and bought the game right away, it doesn't offer much from the PS5 demo, and the gameplay isn't as fun as a Super Mario 3D, Spyro or CrashBut nobody else agrees with you that Astrobot is a 'glorified tech demo' or a 'B-tier game'.
Higher quality games tend to sell more than lower quality games. That's just facts.Aren't you the one who's spent time waffling about quality standards? What's that got to do with sales?
Which is funny, as I'm supposedly this PS fanboy who gobbles up everything Sony puts out...But nobody else agrees with you that Astrobot is a 'glorified tech demo' or a 'B-tier game'.
Read the damn thread, GoW collection was just a PS3 port that looked identical running at a higher res. Oblivion is not only a more recent game it also had a much more recent xbox one x enhancement that improved the graphics far more than the PS3 version of GoW did the late PS2 game. But it was already remastered as part of the GoW Collection.
Oblivion's sales trajectory is too broadly similar to GoW
I'm not talking about critical reception I'm talking about those on neogaf who were berating it for being a remaster/remake of a game they've already played. It got a very solid reception from the vast majority of people. Not to mention solid critic acclaim.
It didn't do that well at retail, but that's a different discussion entirely.
Yet the post that berated the fact that it's a remaster got twice the likes than the OP. Why are you still pretending it was positive. The original post had most of the responses really positive. That was what i responded to. The post with the actual highest number of 'likes' actually complains about the game being remastered for the 2nd time…with most of the complainers being PS owners
The same number of times as God of war believe it or not, read above. In fact Bethesda have even gone and remastered and rereleased their newer ones in the elder scrolls series a million times over. You can't even play GoW 1 or 2 on PS4, PS5 or PC for crying out loud (unless you stream PS3 from cloud). You xbox people are delusional if you think GoW 1 and 2 is less in need of a remaster/remake.How many times has Oblivion been remastered?
Worse, it has Gates of Oblivion.I've never played Oblivion. Does it have annoying Dragons and annoying "dragon shout" like skills?

It isnt as refined as Skyrim.I've never played Oblivion. Does it have annoying Dragons and annoying "dragon shout" like skills?
Indiana Jones was 2024 and Avowed and South of Midnight were mid. So idk why you're putting them there.Indiana Jones, Avowed, South of Midnight, DOOM, (possibly Oblivion remake) and publishing NG2 Black with a 6 month period is crazy already.
Avowed is great.Indiana Jones was 2024 and Avowed and South of Midnight were mid. So idk why you're putting them there.
Im not a fan of SOT and wouldn't class it as Xbox A tier output not even on the Xbox One, but whatever...Barking up the wrong tree.
Imo, Astro Bot is a glorified tech-demo, so you agree with me that Xbox' best is competing with Playstation's B-tier output?
Edit:
Btw, Astro Bot sold 1.5M in the first two months and is consistently selling better than SoT.
My issue with Skyrim was the annoying Dragons that showed up everytime I left a building. I killed the same Dragons over and over countless times. It isnt as refined as Skyrim.
It is supposedly more hardcore, but playability is worse.
This is a remake though. 60 fps, good hit detection etc could alleviate a lot of issues of first release.
Way to ignore what's being said and then go on and argue needlessly. Who said they are different in terms of scope? You stupidly ignore that Oblivion was a 360 game and GoW a PS2 game though. Ignore that the "remaster" was on a now unsupported PS3 but Oblivion can already run on Xbox 1, Series and PC with "enhancements", ignore that oblivion already runs at 4k 60fps on an xbox series x or 8K 120fps on PC (a bigger jump of a remaster than PS2/PS3 GoW) but GoW 1 and 2 doesn't even run on a PS4, PS5 or any modern machine. Yet you think what, that "GoW already had a remaster" because it was in a PS3 collection. You're playing dumb.God of War - 2005
Oblivion - 2006.
'More recent' is a wash here.
For the God of War Collection, the game was uprezzed and anti-aliasing applied to improve the visual quality. Framerate is also much more stable. Oblivion's xbox one X port similarly takes up the resolution and adds texture filtering.
Again, not too much different in terms of scope, and the Xbox One X enhanced BC version was never released as a different SKU.
Even you should understand the difference.
Because there were the xbox regulars if you're not blind to that too and I'm seeing the same hypocrisy from yourself now (another xbox regular) with GoW vs Oblivion. How many people fell in that category, for the Demons souls remake?
The reception in the OP was positive. The snarky comment drew emojis from folks who shared similar sentiment, and most are PS fans. Why did you come here with the 'xbox regulars' bullshit and try to console warz spin it into 'hypocrisy'?
I showed you that it got BC with new console enhancements and released into the xbox store. That it makes no damn difference what you try to label that as.it is irrelevant if Bethesda has re-released their newer ES games. Each game is standalone, and it's telling that you cannot show where Oblivion was re-released as a remastered SKU.
Are you really going to bring up emulators as a reason why a remaster is less justified? Against a PC game like Oblivion that doesn't even need an emulator and runs native on new harder at 8k, ultra high framerate and with graphical mods too? I'm done, you're clearly delusional if you're trying to bring up emulators to try and make a remaster seem needless.PS2 emulators are running it at 4k resolution on on nearly everything under the sun.
Thank you for the advert Ozriel M$FT. Doesn't change the fact that GoW 1 and 2 cant be played on modern hardware at all.An Oblivion remaster will be playable day one on PC, Xbox and PS. Eventually Switch 2. It's no surprise there's a lot of excitement.
Maybe they adjusted it in current version, I had no issues with dragons. Must have killed 3-4 in my 80 hrs playthrough. My issue with Skyrim was the annoying Dragons that showed up everytime I left a building. I killed the same Dragons over and over countless times.
Also every kill got a kill cam, I had to disable it because it became ultra annoying.

Man you're a clown. 2006 is more recent than 2005 is it not? You are the one who mentioned the age of the game as a possible reason why it is more justified. I just said GoW is older, you then went into your tirade of "it's a wash". when 1 releases a year later on an entirely different gen then the tech in the game is in less need of revamping. Of course it matters what gen it released on when it comes to a remaster/remake. It sets the more dated technology used for that game. You like to miss the wood for the trees though.YOU used the term 'recent', which refers to a time period. It doesn't matter if one was a PS2 game and the other was released for the 360. Both were released within a year of each other.
Again, God of War 1 and 2 run at stupendously high resolutions on PC. Seems like a skill issue if you can't get that running.
Blah blah blah. The only person with their panties in a knot is you who is trying really hard to steer the conversation from you bringing up the age of the game as some kind of difference, perhaps not realising GoW is older and less playable on modern systems. I mention that GoW isn't even playable on modern hardware so a remaster is very warranted compared to Oblivion you then bring up fucking emulators. Or the fact that there was a collection on PS3. If you're not refuting my idea that a GoW remaster is very much justified perhaps even more so, what are you doing exactly? Nobody refuted the idea that some have some preconceived hate for a company. That was the point actually. It's been drummed into your head multiple times that the reaction there was specifically tied to that game. Did you see anyone post similar snark in threads about the Silent Hill 2 Remake? Or any of Capcom's remakes of PS1 and early PS2 era games?
Context also matters, since that thread came after the Until Dawn remake, the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster and the rumors of a remaster of Days Gone. Seems many in that thread - most of which are PS diehards - wanted something new.
Bethesda is working on ES6, long since revealed. Oblivion seems to be an outsourced remaster. You can imagine why the news is greeted with (seemingly) more enthusiasm.
You'd have a point if you also took the time to call out the 'hypocrisy' of the PS fans there who celebrated the Silent Hill 2 remake, but alas...
I don't recall ever saying a God of War remaster would be needless.
You're out here with your panties in a knot because some seem more enthused at the thought of an Oblivion remake than a God of War remaster. Imagine getting worked up about that, especially when that can easily change when people see the scope of visual and gameplay improvements in GoW.
Me: "You can understand why more people might be hyped for an Oblivion remaster since it'd be launching on more platforms"
You: "You're advertising!"
You're not beating the allegations of abysmal comprehension
They're allegedly making a remaster/remake. Question isn't about whether it is possible it's about you trying to find reasons why a reaction would be different in that case. Your initial post tried to make this about the age of the game, its popularity, and the fact that it was "enhanced/remastered" already, those reasons are bullshit though and I refuted those. I don't care where you're taking the conversation now.Lots of people are happily playing it on PC, at 60fps and up to 8k resolution.
PS2 games can be played on PS5...if Sony wants. There are multiple PS2 games in the PS Classics selection. Sony just doesn't want you to play them just yet.
From a game preservation point of view, you can play it quite nicely on PC.
Well done Mods. Next time we either get more tactful behaviour or We go Live. Just a couple more trolls to go and it will be alot more tolerable in Xbox threadsPlease point out what exactly I'm bashing?
Microsoft's games this year are all part of recent acquisitions that were going to come out on PlayStation anyways
