Does any Canadian on GAF own a Wii mini? If so, can anyone here tell me if this (Wii Classic Controller Pro) is compatible with the Wii Mini??

Just got a 3DS yesterday, so a few new owner questions which are probably pretty simple to answer:

Am I right that Phoenix Wright won't be getting a physical release and is download only? Nintendo's account system, or lack of, has put me off downloading but if it's not getting a retail release I'll have to make an exception.

Secondly, what games best show off the 3D? I don't know if it's just my eyesight, but even at "full" 3D I barely even notice any difference with the games and demos I've tried so far - yet the 3D plants video looked amazing and I could definitely see the added depth there, so the console isn't faulty, at least. I don't understand what's different about games and why none of them seem to look 3D "enough" even with the 3D slider on full. I can tell it's doing something, as I get double images etc unless I'm looking at the screen from the right angle - but when I am, I can't see anything that jumps out as definitely 3D like the video does. Strange!

Does anyone that has played Rayman Revolution (PS2 port of Rayman 2) know what this flashing fist means on the save file select screen?

It's the fist on the right. It blinks and started showing up after I beat the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire.

Looks like a sideways scrolling list to me, i.e. it indicates there are more completion times to the right. Did it show up after you beat at least four levels? Tried pressing right yet?

I have a question regarding Lone Survivor, but I think I better put it in a spoiler. Its about the last third of the game.

When will I be able to buy more flares from the director? He gave the three free ones yet, but I really need more to reach the generator

Also I am interested in reading good analysis of this game, has somebody some good links regarding this?

Oh. My. God. That's probably it. I won't be able to try until this afternoon, but holy crap I feel like a dumbass. I've been saving in different files in case I missed some stuff and was wondering why it seemed to overwrite my files without asking. This whole time I've been thinking it was for some kind of special power up or something because it started showing up right after I beat a boss level. Thanks.

Well, if it soothes the pain, I overlooked that it says "load menu" and didn't actually get that I was looking at saves until now.

Why is Bioshock called Bioshock? I've always thought it was an awful name.

The Classic Controller Pro plugs into a Wii Remote, so of course it will also work on a Wii mini as it uses the same Wii Remotes as the normal Wii. Just know that some games do not support the Classic Controller (both normal and Pro) at all. You can check this by looking at the back of the game box.

Don't count on Phoenix ever landing on a physical cart, never read that would happen. Nintendo is getting closer to an account-based system with their Nintendo Network ID (NNID). It's not completely there yet, but it's getting better...

As to which games show off the 3D the best, I love Super Mario 3D Land and Zelda ALBW. Both of those I can play through with the 3D on, most others I have to turn it off. Enjoy the system, so many good games...

I have a friend who thinks Skyrim is the greatest game ever and refuses to play games that aren't open world. I've heard that Dark Souls is "kind of open world", but is it open world enough for him to like it?

Probably not. It's actually not that open. You can go in a few different directions but the world is fairly small compared to a game like Skyrim. More importantly, you have a fixed objective in Dark Souls. In the Elder Scrolls games you can just do sidequests and dick around for hundreds of hours.

Why is Bioshock called Bioshock? I've always thought it was an awful name.
It's a spiritual successor to System Shock (the villain is a rogue AI) that features bio-modifications prominently, which, as far as I remember, were part of the city's downfall. It makes some sort of sense.

Are any of the Painkiller games as good as the first one?

Follow up: Do they have native controller support on PC? Does the first one?

Is there a way to recharge your battery in TLoU with a third party ps3 controller that has no motion control? It's dark as fuck.

Is the Wii Virtual Console still working in Europe? I heard they stopped some online channels, but if I buy a Wii (not Mini) now, can I buy and download from the VC?

Started playing Dark Souls for the first time. Beat the first level. In the courtyard with some random guy, aaaaaaaaand accidentally hit him. Now everytime I load, he kills me. I'm thinking this requires a new save file. Lol

I did that in my first attempt at Dark Souls. However, I lucked out. Dude fell off the cliff. I never got to loot his corpse though.

Ah okay. Thanks!

Dragon's dogma
Funny thing is, he bought DD yesterday, and told me how awesome it was on Skype. Good timing, lol.

When I am supposed to promote units in Fire Emblem Awakening? I usually wait until they're above Level 15 but I'm worried I'm doing it wrong, especially for Lissa and Maribelle since leveling them is taking a long time.

Also what's the point of second seals?

Units have a level cap where they can't gain any further EXP (usually around level 20). That is the optimum time to use a Master Seal to promote them. Second Seals are for turning your units into different classes entirely, primarily to learn new skills that they couldn't learn from their current class set.

Anyone know what Runic Games is working on? Searched the web and can't find any info at all other than the rumors of the Torchlight MMO being canned.

Anyone know if Octodad is actually coming to ps4 this month? I heard a lot of rumblings it was supposed to be released this month, haven't found anything concrete.

Wii / WiiU question:

After transferring your Wii settings/saves/VC to the WiiU are you still able to download the VC titles to your original Wii?

If not, can you download them to the Wii on the WiiU?

Is there any word from Nintendo that all of the VC titles that were available on the Wii will eventually be available on the WiiU?

I heard the xbox one's are supposed to run as quietly as possible but mine just started making an semi noticeable humming sound. It's not buzzing or eating disc and everything runs fine and I can only hear it when the room is very quiet. Should I be concerned?

Anyone know of a brand of Dualshock 4 thumbstick covers that are completely smooth like the DS3's rubber?

Most have annoying ridges or bobbles on 'em. Much appreciated GAF.

I own the digital version of Dragon Age origins on my PS3, today I found a copy of DAO awakening for 10 bucks {PSN price is at 40} but apparently it won't work with my digital copy? Why won't it work with a digital copy?

Trying to look for a pc game i used to play in school as a kid
might be on Windows 95 or 98 not too sure which one could be even 3.1
i think it had a green frog as the main character but the only thing i can remember is that at one point he jumps from a garden (i think) all the way into space or a space station

that's all i can really remember about the game

I'm not really sure if this is the right thread for this or not, but how does the Uncharted series hold up these days? I'm interested in trying the series out.

I think so. Yes the first one isn't so great these days, but I find it enjoyable, and I think playing it helps show how good the masterpiece that is Uncharted 2 is. UC3 is disappointing, though it looks gorgeous, one of the best looking PS3 games.

Sounds like one of the Frogger games on PC.

PS4 Questions:

  1. Where can I find my "Subscriptions" in the menu (like how much PS+ I have)?
  2. What is the advantage of having your system in "Standby Mode"? Why not just turn it off to conserve power?
  3. Does the PS Eye come with a plug? I ordered one, but I have no more outlets on my wall. Or do you simply plug it into the back of the PS4 and that's it?

  1. PS+ info is in "settings", then I think its under "account" then "services"
  2. Can download while in standby, auto patch etc. so like a 40gb game overnight if you want
  3. PSeye only plugs into ps4, no external power needed

Backup question! How can I back up Xbox 360 saves to a computer and how can I restore them to the 360? I have all my saves on a USB stick already, but I want to back that up to my PC incase I lose the USB stick. Is it possible to back up the USB stick to a PC and copy/clone it to a new stick if the original is ever lost? If so, instructions on this? Can I back up my profile as well?

I actually discovered with the 3D that I was viewing the 3DS from the wrong angle. For some reason, the angle for the 3D plants video is different to that needed for games, so even though I got no "double image" effect, it wasn't appearing 3D - now I figured that out, games look great.

Just a couple more 3DS questions - the included SD card is running quite low on space now, so I need to upgrade. Before I go out and buy an SD card:

- What's the maximum size the 3DSXL can support? 64GB? I doubt I'll go out and buy the largest capacity unless there's a good deal on it, but it's good to know.

- Can I just swap the cards straight over and then redownload my purchased eShop games to the new SD card with no hassle?

- How do I go about transferring saves from the original SD card to the new one (if that's possible)? I wish there was some sort of cloud storage option like PS+.

- I'm pretty sure it can support up to 128GB SD cards, but I think you have to format them a certain way first.

- No, you have to move all of the contents from the old SD card to the new one and then just put the new one in your 3DS

- Same as above, just move all the contents from the old one to the new one.

I've recently completed Killzone HD as Templar.

Is it particularly worth playing through as the other characters? I've spotted a couple of alternative routes, but the level design doesn't look like it has *that* much potential for variation (barring the last-but-one level, which I guess is unique per character?)

The different characters come with different equipment which slightly alters the experience. I wouldn't replay it myself since I consider it to be mediocre.

How hard is it to transition PS3s?

Like if I buy a new (or slightly used) PS3 Slim (hate the super slim) how easy would it be to transfer my saves, accounts etc. from my original phatty to the new slim?
