This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

I'm downloading Assassin's Creed The Ezio Collection right now and there are two bars. One is to start the software and one is "all data". What does that mean? What are all the other gigabytes for?

First bar is how much is needed to start and play the game. The 2nd bar is the rest of the game.

A lot of games do this now since the game sizes are so big. They let you download the first chunk of the game and download the rest in the background.

Has anyone played Densha de Go 64 and is it any good? And is it worth getting the game and the master controller train controls thing? I find it so relaxing to watch Arino play the PS version on Game Center CX, and always fancied a go at it.

What's the difference between the "Gaming Discussion" and "Gaming Community" forums here?
Old threads are moved to the community section to free up space on the front page of the gaming section.

The original purpose was to have a members only area where posters could share their usernames for e.g. Xbox Live and PSN.

like

people who play racing games?

People who like racing.

Aight so that genre doesn't have a certain general age range at all? That's cool.

I was just mostly wondering if the trends of the genre leaned more to people who can't drive cars yet or people that do and are fascinated with driving them, if that makes any sense.

I mean I realize how stupid it is to wonder about that, but that is the reason I did post it in this thread after all.

Thanks for the replies!

Does remote play on ps4/vita work over more than just the local lan? Assuming I have the best internet in the world could I play my ps4 games from another house and/or city? Is remote play available through pc too?

Yes it works over the Internet.

I did a Destiny daily on my Vita while in Las Vegas while my PS4 was in Mexico City.

Worked great, my Internet is great though. 200 mb with almost zero ping when you do one of those speed test things.

I've used it on crappy Internet too but just to play games like Peggle 2 where it doesn't matter too much.

You can play on PC too but I haven't tried that. I presume it would be better though because you can be wired in.

Do any recent games punish players that quit matches?

I believe one of the Halo games (Reach?) did this to an extent. Playing Titanfall 2, there are quite a few quitters as of late. I think a 5 minute timeout, then 15 minutes thereafter if within a 24 hour period would help. Though I imagine not many devs have the balls to implement this.

What's the difference between the "Gaming Discussion" and "Gaming Community" forums here?

It also cuts down on threads by giving posters a place to quickly ask questions among dedicated fans instead of making a thread in the Discussion side that gets wrapped up in a few posts.

For example, if you wanted to know how microtransaction-y League of Legends is, instead of starting a thread that would get answered quickly, you can just hop into the League OT and ask there.

That's awesome, how do I set this up for my pc? :)

Edit: I found a guide!

Can someone explain what the term "bomba" stands for? I've tried googling it annnnnnddd now the NSA's watching me.

Usually on this forum, the phrase is used when a game goes on sale pretty quickly after launching, causing people to believe it "Bombed" (sold poorly) on release.

Question about eshop on 3ds

I understand that I can buy a game for a friend right? But can I gift a game to someone in a different region?

Gifting isn't possible directly in the eShop itself. You have to buy download codes from an external service.

Also download codes are region locked, but there's a decent chance you could find some online storefront that sells codes for the correct region.

Is there any place I could buy a NA Pokémon Sun digital code while using Paysafecard?

Been looking and so far I feel like

I purchased this HDD from Amazon for my PS4 last year

Now I have a 1TB PS4 Pro.
Size apart, Is this HDD any worse/slower than the 1TB that comes with the Pro?
Should I go ahead and backup/swap it out?

PS4 Pros come with HGST Travelstar 5K1000 2.5" 1TB
Your Seagate drive has better performance.

I don't have PS Plus and want to check my internet speed in PS4 games. What's the best free(to play) game on PSN for test? (can't download huge games)

I want to play the Last Guardian spending the least amount of money possible -- I've waited years for this game but can't afford a PS4 right now. Is this the best route:

Buy a PS4 from Best Buy, rent the Last Guardian from any videogame rental service (Family Video, etc.). Finish the game over a weekend. Return the PS4 from Best Buy as they give full refunds. Return the Last Guardian to the rental place.

Ps4 has a web browser right? Could you use speedtest.net to check it that way?
Thanks! I should test that too, but want an actual game to know the quality of internet for gaming.
I wish I could use my mobile internet for games. :( It's much better than my other service, but it's NAT type 3 and can't change it to type 1 or 2 without rooting.

When you stand the PS3 and PS4 vertically, does it matter which side is up/down? I just switched mine to vertical, and I have mine oriented so the disc slot is toward the top.

I find this highly unethical. These companies aren't in the business or letting you borrow consoles. You'd be surprised how much money it loses those companies. Just borrow or rent a PS4.

There was a cool looking sci-fi first person game a few years back, whatever happened to it? Might've been in development by one guy, think Amnesia in a clean and white looking space station, with Alien (the latest game) similar tech for ingame menus etc. Like really old-school graphics on the monitors and ingame mouse pointer or similar. Seemed like the player was gonna get stalked by some sinister robot we never got to see in the one and only (?) available trailer.

There's this space station first person game on ps4, but I don't think that's sci-fi/horror?

Edit: Of course, I'm talking about Routine from 2012, which is getting released in March 2017 :lol First hit on google..

IIRC, the PS3 vents out of the top when stood vertically, so you absolutely don't want to run that upside down.

PS4 vents out of the rear, I think? It's still probably the case that the fans are positioned at the top of the unit, though, which the hot air would rise to. In both cases the disc slot should be towards the top, so you've got that right.

(This would be so much easier if I was actually at home right now and could look at mine!)

I'm not sure which PS3 version you have, but my OG model has feet on one side. When stood on the feet, the disc slot is at the top of the unit. The PS4 doesn't have feet, but I assume it's oriented so the "PS4" logo on the front of the unit would be the correct orientation when stood upright, which would also place the disc slot at the top.

Is there wiki or some sort of web page dedicated to archiving game clones and linking them to the original? Like all those games where you're a fish eating smaller fish to get bigger and eat bigger fish. Or the game where you're shooting balls that bounce over you and split into smaller and smaller balls. Sometimes it's nice to see where ideas came from and know who to give credit to.

Giantbomb.com kinda has what you're asking for, but perhaps not to the extent you're asking for. It is a wiki for detailing games and their design etc but perhaps not down to an individual person's level regarding who came up with what and when. And it's not exactly run by a company or devs themselves.

If you do a backup of PS Vita (to PC) throught the backup utility/content manager, does it copy also the installed games?

EDIT: File size suggests me that it does, but i am not a hundred percent sure.

Thanks for the replies. I have a new stereo cabinet that has sizeable vent slots cut into the bottom and the PS3/4 are resting vertically right over them, so I think I'm OK.

Can you "refund" a Steam balance back to a gift card?

My little nephew got a $50 gift card for Christmas, loaded it into his account and then realized the game he wanted won't run on his computer before purchasing it.

Any chance that Steam will refund the $50 back onto the gift card?
