This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Why are PAL case spines so ugly and bland looking? Black text on white background where everywhere else gets cool logos and stuff :(

I just bought GTA 4 the complete edition and I was wondering.

Is there any reason to play the vanilla version of the game over lets say lost and the damned or the ballad of gay tony? ( barring regular story that is )

What I'm trying to say is, is this like WoW vanilla -> tbc -> wotlk ...,

Like everything that was in regular GTA4 is in Ballad of gay tony, stuff like minigames/weapons/vehicles/areas?

The city is pretty much the same except for a few minigames and locations that are exclusive to each story. So yes, with Gay Tony and TLAD are the full game and playing IV is only necessary if you want to understand the little references they make to it.

I just have Episodes from Liberty city for my GTA fix on PC.

Can I get a PC game controller recommendation that'll mostly be used for 2D gaming? I'd get a wired 360 controller, but I know the d-pad doesn't cut it. Is it possible to use a PS3 controller via OSX?

What games have issues (or even aren't compatible at all) with unofficial PS2 memory cards?

I have few games that I want to play on my PS2 Slim, but my old PS2 memory card stopped working (PS2 doesn't even show it in Browser) and nowadays official PS2 MC (8mb) are expensive as hell, so I consider buying unofficial 64mb MC.

I've heard that God of War games don't read them, but what about other games?

If you want something dedicated for 2D gaming, it's hard not to recommend the Sega Saturn USB Pad. Official one, mind you, not any knockoffs. You can usually find 'em on ebay.

If you're in the USA, I still see official memory cards in stores like K-Mart sometimes. Don't really remember them being that expensive, either.

I'm from Poland and I admit that I exaggerated with the "expensive as hell" (wanted to do a stealth edit, but then you posted >_>); what I meant is that you can buy most PS2 games new cheaper than the official MC, so I considered unofficial one that are much cheaper.

Just started playing Mafia II on PC and all the stop signs appear yellow. Is this some color problem or were stop signs not red back in the day?

They're supposed to be yellow.

Been trying to play my PS3 online recently. Haven't used my PS3 for online stuff in a while, but am trying out Killzone 3 multiplayer. Every time, though, it says it has to sign me in. And every time I do this, it makes me read the terms and conditions all over again. It forces me to scroll through 5 minutes of unskippable legal blather. Is there any way to have it permanently sign me in so I don't have to read the terms/conditions stuff again?

Okay, here's a (probably) dumb question with a (probably) very simple answer, but I've recently got the lovely Billowing Clouds dynamic theme for my PS3. I'm wondering: is there a way to make the interface disappear so I can fully admire the theme without a bunch of writing being all over the place?

I am trying to remember a SEGA Genesis game.

It's a game where you are a tank and you are trying to protecting a METAL EAGLE.

Can anyone tell me the name of this game !?

Anyone know if the DLC disc that comes with the Borderlands GOTY Edition can be used more than once? I've got two 360s in the house that I like to switch between (One's in the bedroom and one's in the main room.) and I'd like to have the DLC on both machines.

Bioshock 2 is widely considered by most (i.e. game reviewers) to be inferior to Bioshock 1. If 2 came out before 1, would you consider it the better game?

Okay, just finished the DS game I was working on and now I'm trying to decide which portable RPG in my backlog to play next. I've narrowed it down to the following:

Dragon Quest IX
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
Radiant Historia
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together
Valkyria Chronicles 2
The World Ends with You

I hear great things about all of them, and plan on playing through them all eventually. But the question is what should I play first? Here is something to consider for deciding:

I will generally be playing on my lunch break at work. Meaning I'll most likely be playing in 45-60min bursts during on weekdays (and longer sessions on the weekend). So if I'm usually playing in hour bursts, are any of those games a better choice over another?

I can't answer your question since I haven't played it. But if you're considering purchasing it you might want to do it today as it's on sale for $10.99 on Amazon for today only.

If they're like most DLC disks then yeah you can reuse them whenever you like.

Are there any mods that you guys would recommend that fix the low res textures in Mass Effect? I know they're out there but not sure which to choose and I'm playing the Steam version.

Do NOT use high-capacity third-party memory cards. They have a tendency to corrupt and lose all of your data. I'd just bite the bullet and get an official Sony card (~$10).

There is no way I know of to do this.

Could it be Namco's Battle City?

Some XBox 360 titles allow two or more local players to play online. Do all gamer tags need to be Gold for this or is one sufficient?

Can anyone link to some official Capcom press materials or assets that detail Akuma's origin? Not licensed material like comics or movies, just official, canonical information about Akuma straight from Capcom? PM me whatever you can find, please. Thanks!

Most games I've played like this only require the one account. Whoever player 2 is will show up as "SapientWolf(1)" or something like that... I havn't been on live in forever.

Right, I'm looking for a really funny commentary which I think is of MW2, similar to The Joker, but the voice is of a gay guy instead. Sounds like one of the characters called Bruce, in Family Guy.

Anyone?

NVM - found it. The Master Baitor

How is supper monkey balled formed?

How monkey get into ball?

Monkey Balls can fly by opening their balls and using them to glide. Assuming the monkey's can do this at will I would say they can enter and exit their respective balls at any time they please.

From Wikipedia:

From 1924 to 1954, stop signs were made with a black stop legend on a yellow field. In 1954, the sign gained its current white legend/red field color configuration. Red signifies stop on traffic signals, so this specification unified red as a stop signal whether indicated by sign or by light.

Why isn't there a RB3/Keyboard bundle for PS3!? 360 and Wii has them.

This is correct that there is no official bundle. Sites certainly sold them together but unlike the 360 and Wii you can't get the two together in a single official Harmonix/EA package. The below is all they really said about it

From Harmonix:

Unfortunately, this SKU will not be available in the U.S. (including Canada and Mexico) due to the agreement terms for the region.

· Moving forward, the keyboard and Rock Band 3 software will continue to be available as stand-alone products for PlayStation 3 in the US.

· This does not affect European customers as the Rock Band 3 keyboard/software PS3 bundles will still be available in Europe.

Do the Western versions of Resonance of Fate or Nier have Japanese TEXT when the console is set to Japanese? Like Lost Odyssey? PS3 or 360 doesn't matter.

GS is having a B2G2 sale on last gen games pretty soon, so I'm trying to compile a list of old Gamecube games to buy.

So far I've got:
P.N. 03
Killer7
Viewtiful Joe
Havest Moon: A wonderful Life
Animal Crossing

Do these games hold up today?

I don't see why VJ, HM and AC wouldn't. HM:AWL though, is very... well, some fans don't like it, while others do. If you want "classic" HM, I'd look for Magical Melody if you don't already own it.

Sadly, I never got a chance to play K7 or P.N. 03.

I have a couple of business trips on my schedule later this year and my old ds kinda bores me. For this reason i want to buy a psp.

I know that the loading times on the system are quite long thanks to the optical drive. So my Question is: Are the loading times still a problem and do I have any option to minimize them or get rit of them alltogether? maybe copy the game to flash drive etc.?

Yes, through digital downloads (IIRC) and custom firmware, where you can put the games on the PSP storage.
