This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

I bought a retail Dawn of War 2 Gold online yesterday so I'm expecting it soon. I'm going to activate it on Steam when it arrives, if I install it from the disc and then activate it will I still need to download it off Steam?
No, you'll just have to download the patches - the installer on the disc requires Steam anyway.

So, I bought a 40gig PS3 a while back, and I didn't think I'd be running out of room, but I am. What do I do? Do I have to transfer everything to a bigger PS3? Can I store stuff on an external thingy? Do I have to delete things? Thanks

Also these two guys above me need their questions answered too.
I have a 40 gig PS3 and I manage it by only keeping one game installed at a time (as in one disc-based game with an install) and not keeping music or movies on it. You can upgrade your PS3's hard drive if you want to, though. You can back everything up to an external hard drive, install a new hard drive in your PS3, and transfer it all to the new drive.

Where does it install to? The "Game Data Utility" folder? If I delete the stuff I already have in there, my saves will still work, right?

Yeah, that's right. The game data utility folder only holds your install data and patches.

I just reinstalled Metal Slug (1996) for PC. From what I remember there were a problem with the life/1up when you run out of them. You need it to push some keys or arrow with your CO-OP to gain that 1up 99 lifes or something. Last time I played was about 10 years ago where I don't remember this part at all.

If anyone remembers, please let me know. Google didn't help me so much.

I'm watching Symphonic Odysseys and a few minutes ago, they did Silent Light from Chrono Trigger. What other songs did Uematsu do for the game? I've always read that he did a few songs for it, but I've never been able to find out which songs were his.

Just got a 3ds. Typing this through the browser as we speak. Not the smoothest browser in the world but faster than the psp at least. Anyway, is there any way to view videos on this thing? Or is it just as pointless as the psp browser? :(

Oblivion 5th anniversary edition. Worth picking up for someone who rented the game but didn't get far?

A lot of people say it didn't age well graphics wise, but I think it's fine. I just got back into Oblivion recently in anticipation of Skyrim. Yeah there are boring parts but if you're into action rpgs then Oblivion can keep you interested for days at a time.

If you've got time off for the summer go ahead. If not don't even bother and just go straight to Skyrim. Read the summery of the story though if you don't get it because skyrim is loosely related (far future).

Is anyone here an expert on Mega Drive II regional types?

I have a Mega Drive II that looks like it was purchased in UAE, it plays my PAL games as well as my Japanese Sonic 2 and it looks identical to a Japanese console (with the red slot and blue buttons). However, the box it came in is like the UK PAL type (only with a picture of the Japanese type Mega Drive II on the front). Can anyone enlighten me as to what type this is? Will I be able to play all region games on it?

Cheers!

So

I remember a terrible game being posted on NeoGAF. It was a crappy looking FPS with a doctor-looking guy in a hospital setting, who did a ton of narration. Does anyone remember the title?

I bought a 4000 MS points card and redeemed it on my account. When I tried to buy Battlefield Bad company 2 off the marketplace it wasn't letting me select my points to buy it. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not 100% certain this works but I've seen people on here mention you can hit Y to use Microsoft points to purchase Games on Demand games.

This question just popped in my head...has Nolan North showed up on any podcast and actually had a good interview, talked about himself and wether he's even a gamer or not? I figured it would be cool to find out about the voice actor of the millennium(TM).

Anyone remember that crazy horse racing from a while back? I remember there was a video with the horse's neck, and stuff. Anyone have the video link?

EDIT: I found it.

So, I was bidding on Legend of Dragoon (PAL, complete, mint except for the case which is slightly scratched), but I'm wondering what it's worth. I now have a bid of 26€, and the seller contacted me to seal the deal... Should I do it?

I remember enjoying the demo of it a lot back in the day, how does the full game hold up?

Hey GAF help me out here, I really like Lost Odyssey, I did not finish yet but I was wondering, whats the best similar alternative to it?

Is there any? With the same combat style, turn-based, for 360 or ps3.

(or do I need to go psp/DS for this type of game?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Ok got another one already. Just last week or maybe two weeks ago I was listening to a game podcast where one of the guys was talking about a PC game where you're in a zombie apocalypse and your wife is bed ridden and you have to go out and get supplies but lots of crazy stuff happens and its very detail oriented. Like when you leave you have to remember to board up the windows again or zombies can get at your wife while you're gone. Does anyone know what game this is and/or the podcast it was discussed on? I'm thinking maybe Gamers with Jobs or Giant Bomb but I don't remember.

It's dreadful. It's subjective of course, but I urge you not to buy it.

It's pretty much Shadow Hearts 4, so if your PS3 can play PS2 games, SH Covenant is your best bet. In terms of DS games, I'd say the Final Fantasy 4 remake is the one.

Well, my PS3 can't play Ps2 games and I dont have a Psp or Ds, I didn't want to get one just to satify my need for a Lost Odyssey similar game.

I'll keep my hopes, maybe one day I can find what I want. Thank you StuBurns.

Well you aren't out of options completely, there is Blue Dragon, The Last Remnant, Costume Quest and FFXIII.

The problem is none of them are nearly as good as Lost Odyssey. I'd recommend watching the Gametrailers video reviews of those four, see if anything takes your fancy because you can get them all cheap at this point.

I already have Blue Dragon, The Last Remnant I heard it's hard (is it?) Costume Quest is different but I might get it and FXIII it's the combat style itself that turns me off, I want them to go back to old school combat type.

I love Rpg's that are easy to play and do not require grinding for hours. All I care is the story, gameplay and to have fun, no to grind forever.

It's really different, but I'd recommend checking out Nier, it has a better story than any other JRPG I've played, it's a cake walk but still enjoyable to play (if you skip most of the side quests).

EDIT: As for TLRs difficulty, I only played about five hours of it on 360, just bought it again on PC and not had a chance to fire it up yet, I don't remember it being really hard, but it could certainly ramp up later.

Would it be possible to do an Operation Rainfall-esque campaign to get Sega to make a new Daytona USA? I'm so desperate for a new Daytona, I downloaded that Days of Thunder game on my PS3, and kinda liked it...

Do the new slim 360s have the same game disc backward compatibility as the old? What about hard drives? I know they are different, but can I take my 120 out of its enclosure and put it in that of a slim xbox?

I'm thinking about buying a used PS3 off craigslist. It's a great offer and comes with two games... downloaded. My question is will they stay on after I make a new PSN account? (I have to make a new account, right?)

Ummm, this is a strange thing to list, because to do this they have to leave their account active on the console. Assuming that's what they are doing, yes, as long as you don't delete their account, you keep the games.

Are there benefits to making my own PSN account? Like Netflix and stuff

Edit: thanks I'll buy it

Oh yes, you'll certainly need to make your own account. You don't have to choose between theirs and yours or anything, you make a new account, make it the automatic log-in one, and leave theirs on your system and never use it, the games will still work as long as the user account isn't deleted.
