This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

I'm about the play MGS: Ground Zeroes for the first time, as I'm thinking about getting MGS5 when it comes out.

Are there any other Metal Gear games that I should play before GZ and 5 for story reasons, or can I just jump with 5 blind having played GZ?

You need to have played MGS3 and Peace Walker

Happy days, I have them on my X360, bought when they were on offer only to disappear into my backlog... I'll play them through first then.

Cheers.

If you only want to be ready for Phantom Pain those two should be fine but playing release order is what I would recommend.

Not really a gaming question, but for gaming purposes:

Can I use a Walmart gift card to buy an Amazon gift card? I typically buy my games on amazon

EDIT:
Answer is no since they don't have Amazon giftcard there. Well, I'm here and don't see any

Wtf is up with Drive Club? It doesn't show up on PSN under racing games, its hard to find unless you search and when you do find it theres a message saying the online portion is a mess due to server issues (or something to that effect).

Is Sony that upset with the game? Do they not want people to buy it?

While I was playing my Wii U it said it lost connection to it and to charge it if that's the problem. I think it is, but I was wondering how long does it take to charge in order me to go back and continue playing my game?

Can you permanently disable PS4's tilt-to-text-entry function? Pressing R3 or a directional button at the text entry screen isn't working; I still see the little entry circle hovering over the on-screen keyboard. I think something might be screwy with my controller, but even if I got a new controller I would never want to enter text that way.

I can't connect to XBL on my 360 and can't figure out why.

The 360 connects to the Internet. I ran through all the diagnostics and reset the router/modem. The profile is not banned and my XBL subscription is good. There's no new hardware or updates to the router. The 360 OS is up-to-date.

Could it be a hardware issue causing it not to connect? It's an older console that has RROD'ed on me. Occasionally it freezes up on me and sometimes the disk drive sounds extremely loud.

I no longer get they little icon on screen when I take a screenshot on PS4. I checked notifications under settings and the share settings, no joy.

Funnily enough I thought I would have preferred it like this but every time I take a screenshot I keep thinking it hasn't worked.

Edit : Screenshot icon is magically back today.

When it comes to networking and what not I know nothing but I can tell you I used to have this prob on my 360 when I let it connect automatically. What worked for me was setting a static ip.

Is there any way to use PS3 controller on Windows 8.1 guys? I have searched all over the internet and there seems to be a bug or something and everybody is complaining that it doens't works. I figured that i would ask here.

I feel like I'm missing something really obvious but anyway:

So I've set my PS4's share button to "Easy Screenshot", meaning taping it takes a screenie and holding it opens the menu. Now the thing is whenever I hold it to open the menu, that works fine, but choosing the upload menu will always make an additional screenshot.
It's not a big deal, but I end up with tons of duplicates for no reason. What am I missing?

Here's my stupid gaming question: Is "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story" the only video game based off a biographical film?

I'm guessing you're not going to count Wisdom Tree's "Bible Adventures"? :-)

There's a game version of The Untouchables, but it's fair to say that that's not terribly historically accurate.

Oh, I don't know. I guess Bible Adventures is more about the ensemble cast, rather than just the biography of one person (or deity)...

I hadn't considered The Untouchables. I guess I see that film/game as more of a historical time period type of thing, rather than it being biographical and focusing on just one of the characters.

Any idea when the next steam sale (or comparative deal) is?

Quite tempted with regard to cities: skylines and dark souls 2, but I can wait if a (big) sale is expected relatively soon.

How do Skylanders and Disney Infinity work exactly? Can you buy a starter pack and just play the main campaign using that? Or must you buy more figures? I realise you need to buy more figures to be able to play every part of the game.

So, question: why Nintendo doesn't release games in July?

Every single time someone speculates a July release date for a Nintendo game, other one came and say "Hey, Nintendo hates July!". There's a special reason behind this, or is just a coincidence?

This could deserve a thread, but I still can't make one, so whatever... =P

I want to play something xeno. Should I play Xenogears one psp or Xenoblade on 3ds? I've played Xenogears about 15 years ago and Xenoblade 2 years ago.

Is Thief 2014 a reboot or the 4th entry in the series?
I tried googling but it's like 50/50.
It's the 4th entry and a revival of the series. I wouldn't call it a reboot since it still features the same protagonist as before and I don't believe they are retconning his story.

Xenogears holds up in my opinion, I played it in college for the first time a few years ago and I was hooked. But if you want to get ready for Xenoblde Chronicles X then maybe Xenoblade?

I generally go with the one I haven't played in a while first.

Is it true that playing multiplayer is required to get the best ending in mass effect 3?

No. There's not many differences in the endings either way. There's a readiness gauge that affects mostly the lead up to the ending, but if you do most of the side quests you'll fill it up easily.

I'm playing the game in "action mode" (yes yes I know I'm one of 'them'). Are there still side quests? I have to say I'm not familiar with western rpgs and this game plays very weird.

It's not the same character if it's a sequel. Some of the events of the original series are referred to as if they happened centuries in the past and Nu-Garret's backstory doesn't seem to involve the Keepers at all (and when you see Keeper related stuff, he has no real knowledge of them). I think the popular fan theory is that he's just a descendant of the original, though it's never explicitly stated.

So, as I play through Dark Souls, and plan to begin DSII shortly after, I have to ask a question: Is the DLC for DSII worth it?

No clue with Action mode. I imagine they're there but given the responses are automated it might not be that great for filling up the readiness meter.

Yes. Widely regarded as some of the best content in the game.

Anyone know if the animated parts of the Short Peace physical version from Europe will play nicely with a US PS3? Not sure If that stuff gets weirdly region locked or anything.
