This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

So I put an album full of MP3s on a 2GB flash drive. I put the flash drive in the front of the 360; load up Halo Reach. When I go to the dashboard and try to play the album, the dash just locks up with Halo going as normal in the background.

Wat do?

Agreed. I had as much fun with that game as any other on the Xbox, save maybe PGR 2 and RalliSport 2. There was virtually no point to being able to grind/wall ride the entire Shibuya bus terminal several time 'round, but it didn't make it any less fun to do. Game deserves a HD XBLA release. That would be worth my money.

SEGA: Where are you? Need some JSR/Shenmue action, dammit.

Its my favorite game of all time. WTB a proper PS3/360 sequel.

When you say dashboard do you mean guide? Try loading the songs from the dashboard (don't load the game) and then launch the game.

I have a question about the PSP and outputting the image to a TV. I know the PSPGo can do it, and my launch PSP-1000 cannot. But what about the PSP-2000 & 3000?

And if either of those can do it, do they allow a person to use their PS3 controller to play like the PSPGo does?

Video output was added with the introduction of the 2000 so it and the 3000 support it. No idea about the controller.

It goes like this:

1000: No TV output whatsoever.

2000: TV ouput. Gaming only available via Component and progressive scan (480p+) displays.

Videos/Photos/XMB access works via Composite or Component and on non-progressive scan displays.

3000: TV ouput for all functions via Component or Composite whether the display is progressive scan compatible or not.

The Go is the only device that features DS3 compatibility because it's the only model that has Bluetooth built-in.

The PSP Resistance title works with the DS3 by having your PSP hardwired to your PS3 along with the DS3 being connected to that same system. It even features a special DS3 controller setup and I think ups the difficulty a bit since you have better aiming. This is the only PSP game that does this to my knowledge.

Someone feel free to correct me on any of this.

It's not really a stupid question, but it IS a GAMING question that doesn't deserve its own thread. Oh, the dilemma!

If I could only get one of Okamiden or Monster Tale, which should I get?

(I only played the first few hours of Okami on PS2, if it affects the decision.)

How long does Eternal Sonata take to complete? I've already played 6 hours and I haven't finished Chapter 2. I think I'm going at a slow pace.

I think my memory is going bonkers on this one, but I have to ask anyways.

A couple of decades ago, back when Super Mario Bros. 3 was around the height of its popularity, there was a TV special with John Walsh of "America's Most Wanted" fame as the host, guiding people through some levels.

My question is: am I imagining this shit? I could swear that I saw this as a kid, but Google isn't finding a damn thing for me. I want to believe I'm not faking myself out, but I just don't know.

Looking at John Walsh's IMDB page, I don't see anything that could be related to video games. Mario 3 came out in Japan in 1988 and 1990 in the US, so presumably such a show would have aired around 88~91, but John Walsh didn't have much going on in that time period, aside from America's Most Wanted.

Not to say the show didn't actually happen, but I don't think John Walsh hosted it.

Quick question about Borderlands. I'm a lefty and I have to have a southpaw control setting (i.e. left stick looks, right moves) to play FPS. Does it has?
Please say yes, please say yes, please...

Borderlands has a South Paw preset. The triggers (aim down sights and shooting) and bumpers (skill and grenades) are also reversed. I'm not sure if that is standard or not, but this is the only southpaw option.

Based on which game deserves the support, IMHO I'd go with Monster Tale.

Okamiden's gonna sell a decent amount on name alone but Monster Tale I think deserves the recognition more.

So like, all the games on XBox Live's On Demand service, they're all seriously nerfed, graphics wise right? Like they are compressed or the resolution is hamstrung or something in order to compensate for a DVD game to become a >1 GB download?

I ask because the screenshots always look terrible, plus I vaguely remember this being a 'thing' years back. Microsoft used to post the resolution for games but the do this no longer. So I was wondering.

To my knowledge all the games on the "On Demand" service on live are basically disc images of the game's DVD. So it's basically like installing it to your hard drive without needing the disc in the DVD drive.

So no, shouldn't be a lick 'o difference, to my knowledge.

Okami didn't sell a decent amount on name alone or reputation. What makes you think the sequel is going to do any better?

If I go up to any general gamer and say "Hey, have you heard of a game called Okami?", they'd likely say "Yeah, that zelda game with the dog, right?" even if they haven't played it I'm sure they've heard of it.

Whereas if I said "Hey, have you ever heard of a game called Monster's Tale?" They'd probably say "No, sounds like some shitty Pokemon ripoff though."

What is the difference between -Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and -Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

I do have Sons of Liberty and I am very familiar with it.

As a fan of the Metal Gear series am I missing out by never playing "Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance "??

I really want to play this game to satisfy my curiosity, how different is it from Sons of Liberty?

It adds a bunch of VR missions and crazy game modes.

It isn't essential like MGS3: Subsistence is.

No it doesn't....last I checked..Metal Gear games weren't a satire of Rambo movies starring Charlie Sheen.

On second thought MGS games wouldn't be what they are today if it wasn't for their offbeat, silly humor sprinkled here and there throughout the series.

Much appreciated man.

I know everyone hates on it, but I'm going to ask anyway. I read about a price cut on the PSP Go (down to $150) in the beginning of this month, yet everywhere I look it's still $199. Does anyone know anything about this?

I ended up buying Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition off Steam since No One Lives Forever is apparently impossible to find by legal methods. Is this a game I need to mod to hell and back to get it up to "current standards" or can I just jump right in?

Sony dropped it on their site for a day or two. None of the major retailers followed. I don't think it was really a price drop so much as sony just having a sale.

I think the actual game is best left perfectly intact, but it probably would be smart to look for a graphical mod that will bring it up to the proper resolution if you're playing on modern hardware

I ask this question every so often but no one has ever been able to give me an answer.

The clues are so vague that I doubt anyone ever will.

There was this table top arcade game that I remember from along time ago. I want to say early 90s.

Anyway, you were definitely a humanoid character and enemies would come at you.

I probably just described 100 games, but I can't remember any more.

I want to say it was mimicking 3D before there was 3D proper.

http://www.nesrepairshop.com/online_shopping/index.php?productID=749. Here is one. I would personally try and call nintendo's tech support number first and see if they have a recommended distributor. Its probably a long shot but worth the 10 mins to call. 1-800-255-3700

Actually after a quick search of nintendo's site here is a list of local distributors http://www.nintendo.com/corp/distributors_domestic.jsp

How do I unlock hardcore difficulty in Pixeljunk Monsters deluxe? I've rainbowed every stage in regular and completed all the medal challenges but I still can't select hardcore. Is it just not an option at all?

I would have posted this in the PJM deluxe thread but the last post in that was almost a year ago and I don't want to make anyone think I'm bumping it with exciting news or anything...

I own a white PSP Go and I was wondering if I could buy a cheap black one in the future and still be able to download all my purchased games on it.

Thanks to the 3DS, I should have just enough stars to redeem for the SNES-style Classic Controller for the Wii. Is that a worthwhile purchase?

Based on Qriocity.com you have 4 available slots per account for PSP systems and 5 for PS3.

Stick with the Classic Controller (preferably Pro) if you already have that, otherwise get the SNES pad if you want a more authentic feel for SNES VC titles.

In Gears of War 2, does this setup work if we want to play Horde?

XBOX 1 (Splitscreen):
- Player 1, Gold Account
- Player 2, Guest Account

XBOX 2:
- Player 1, Gold Account

Can we play together over Live? Can we go into matchmaking to get a full squad?

I believe it should work just fine. It's been awhile since I've played, but I seem to recall playing Horde over XBL with my brother and I both on splitscreen.

Bizarre that the picture has an Xbox logo on it, the skating mode was exclusive to the PS2 version I believe.

Its certainly one of the cooler things that nintendo offers. I would say that if it is worthwhile or not depends on how much Virtual console stuff you play. If you don't think you are going to use it then maybe its not worth it. I would guess they will hold a pretty high resale value though so that may be worth something to you.
