This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

That's right yeah, I can't speak to HMV Ireland though.
I moreso was curious was it supposed to contain a DLC code like...Alan Wake or Mass Effect 2. I'm just slightly paranoid after the clerk tried to "accidentally" sell me a used copy twice, anything beyond what I listed I'm fine with ignoring.

Thanks though!

I bet this is a longshot, but I just made my Wii region free with Startpatch and the first thing I want to try is Pikmin 2 Wiiplay PAL. Amazon UK won't ship games to the US, so where can I get a copy that ships here?

Well, if any kind Euro person wants to sell me theirs, or buy a copy for me, I'd compensate ya.

Do you still need a PS3 to connect a Dualshock 3 to a PSP Go? I have all the rest of the pieces to use it with my TV except for the DS3 and a PS3. I don't want to go out and buy DS3 if it's gonna be useless though.

Is SiN Episode good? I'm looking for a shooter to play, I liked the first game, but for some reason I never got around to playing the sequel?

What's the best console (all time) for local multiplayer gaming?
You want something cheap for a dorm or something?

I'd say Wii. You have all the WiiSports stuff, Rock Band Beatles, the new Golden Eye etc.

Is it computationally or by memory usage less expensive to have larger guns on the screen in an FPS? In some games, I feel like the gun covers a rather large part of my FOV. Are the developers lowering the "effective resolution" of a game?

I'm not sure how to solve this screen in VVVVVV. I know that I have to flip upside-down and get to the bottom ledge and flip back up to get the companion across. But I don't know what the ideal position is for my companion or the proper timing. I can get her to the first platform but she falls because the second platform is at her exact level (feet under). Finding LPs for specific levels are a bitch so I hope someone can help me.

I won a code for a Special Edition version of Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 for Steam. Is this transferable? I already have the game for PC, so I was hoping to trade it for an 800 microsoft points code. Can just anyone use my code? Is it region specific? And if others can use it, is there a thread on GAF for code trading?

The Dreamcast had Powerstone 2, Worms Armageddon, Soul Calibur, DOA2, the 2K sports games, Dynamite Cop and a whole buttload of other games I can't remember right now. Maybe it's not the best, but I spent many hours playing locally with my bros.

I want to buy a 1 TB hard drive for my PS3. (I have a lot of Rock Band songs, and I want to download some retail PS3 titles off of PSN, and those take 10+ GB on average.) Which ones will fit and work, and where can I buy one?

Guys this is probably a dumb question but is there a thread about how long it takes you to beat your games? Like if I wanted to see how long it takes the average gaffer to beat "Insert Game Title Here"

So some months ago someone posted this video of a gaming music concert.
There was this asiatic guy with a leg in plaster that was playing a piano medley. At half the exhibition he left the hall and came back a little back later and resumed playing until the end.
Someone can tell me which event it was?

These possibilities:

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect for Xbox 1 for about 6 bucks

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect for NGC for about 15 bucks

Somehow I'm tempted to think the NGC version is better... Please bring me off this idea with some logic (ie. "Xbox version is ... ")

I asked this in the PSN thread but no one seemed to have a definitive answer: for the Japanese versions of Megaman 1-3 in the PSN Store, is EVERYTHING in Japanese? Or are certain things (like the weapons menu or store) still in English? They're the "PS1 Classics" versions of the game, if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance.

Can anyone recommend some games similar to the Professor Layton series in terms of storyline? My girlfriend loves these games, and I'd like to get her something similar. She's beaten all 3 (storyline, not all the puzzles) within the past week.

She's trying Phoenix Wright right now, but she doesn't like it as much for whatever reason.
She loved Ghost Trick too.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I just bought Mega Man 2 off PSN, and most of the game is in Japanese, but weapons/items in the menu are labelled with a letters of the English alphabet. Doesn't really make a difference though... language is really not an issue in this game.

Speaking of VVVVVV, is there anyplace I can listen to the soundtrack? I don't want to have to go in-game just to listen to it.

....my question !

Time makes bigger tvs more acessible ... so now we have tvs that are AT LEAST twice the size of a tv in the n64 days were we played 4 player split screen goldeneye .... so why is 4 player split screen INSANELY rare and even 2 player split screen is still very rare ?

Sorry for replying a week later :S I was a bit mad when I made that first post, I left out a few things. The router is an Actiontec MI424WR. The device comment I made was more concerning chaging the security of my network to a possibly weaker one, and I was averse to doing so.

And I've tried disabling security and just connecting before ("The attempt to obtain an IP address timed out."), but I'll try again later. Thanks for taking the time to respond :)

edit: Alright, well this is something. I try connecting, it doesn't give the IP, I restart, and it signs in. However, when I go to the web browser, it signs me out with error 8002AD23, and gives me a message about it not being able to do a connection, and it being a DNS error (80710102).

Currently, the primary and secondary DNS on the connection are 192.168.1.1 and 68.237.161.12. These two were set automatially, and are the same on my desktop. I seem to be stuck here...

Thinking about playing through Majora's Mask. I own the original gold cart and the GC disc version. I'm open to buying the VC version as well.

Which is the best version?

The GC Collector's Edition version of MM has framerate and freezing issues.

I'm pretty sure the cartridge and the VC release play exactly the same, so I would just stick with the cart if you already own that.

Why do most game characters never change their clothes (it bugs me most in JRPG where even in cutscenes depicting other time lines, the characters tend to wear the same stuff. The same goes for differing weather conditions not being a factor at all). Besides making the character an icon / implant the persona for people to make art work out of and figurines out of (looking at Shepard from ME, it is still possible to do it) is there any other reason?

This might be the most obvious thing ever.

I cant notice the difference between 30-60fps. Can anyone link to a visual indicator, i see hundreds of complaints about framerate and not once have i ever noticed or been concerned about it

Now that I'm used to playing games @ 60FPS on PC, the difference is as clear as night and day. I almost wish I didn't notice since it's unpleasant to play a game with at 30FPS or less now.

Now iv seen that i honestly dont see the need for all the complaints. 60fps still shows signs of "jumping" or "skipping" so in the end we are still settling for less than perfect. If i havnt to this point had complaints about 30fps either because its not obvious or masked so well i think i can live the rest of my life in much the same condition. obviously 60fps is nicer but its not as mandatory as some people make out.

Next question.

Im looking for a solution to playing Time Crisis 1 - 4, im aware lightguns have problems on HDTV but not to what extent any and all help would be appreciated

It's not how it looks, it's what it does to the controls. It makes the response much crisper.

Are 360 hard drives made by third parties legal and reliable? They're so much cheaper that I'm tempted to buy one.

And, what is the cheapest way to move data from one hard drive to another?

Guys, I have a nice NEC IPS monitor that I would like to hook my PS2 up to. Ive looked around and it seems like I would need a VGA box? Any other suggestions on how I could connect my component cable to the monitor?

I just hooked my SNES back up. Is it possible to use a Japanese Super Famicom controller on a US SNES?

My Super Famicom controllers work on my PAL SNES, so I'm going to guess yes.

Only problem is the cords are so damn short...
