This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Hey GAF (specially WoWGAF), can someone tell me exactly what is this and if there's a way for me to know if it's still valid? I know practically nothing about WoW and I was surprised when my mother found this in her closet yesterday. Apparently, I got it a few years ago and told my mother to "get rid of it" but she kept it in case it was useful. About it's origin, the only explanation I can think of is that it came with a NVIDIA video card I purchased in 2008, because I'd never buy anything MMO related.

So, is this thing still valid? If so, is this a subscription or what? And how long does it last? (I searched a little and it seems they are either 30 or 60 days but I'm not sure).
It's a CD in a little cardboard-like package, like that of Wii Sports. The white sticker says "World of Warcraft Authentication Key Standard Edition - US" and then a 26 digit code. And apparently the CD doesn't have any key of sorts.

Thanks in advance.

It should still be valid. Go to battle.net, create an account, and enter the code. The standard game comes with 30 days of free play time.

I think there was a site that has all the cutscenes from games. Basically there are a couple games I don't want to actually play, but just want to watch the video clips.

Does anyone know what the site was or whatever?

I think they had MGS4, and maybe Half-life and stuff.

Thanks!

I'd bet you can find the cutscenes for any popular game on Youtube.

Hm maybe I could do this. I was hoping to find them all in order so I could really easily just watch them.

Never thought of youtube actually lol.

I stopped partway through MGS4 and won't end up finishing it. However I'd like to see what happens in the story. Among other games.

As far as Kingdom Hearts go, I've only played the first game. Do I really need to play every single game outside KH1 and 2 to even know what is going on?

Most people who upload the full rips seem to put them in ordered playlists so you can just start it and watch the whole thing in order.

Here's MGS4 for example: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8F9CDABC3496F038&feature=plcp

Don't know where to ask this, so I'll put it here. Can anyone give me a link for the thread about the MS press conference with the 'Have you ever wondered what the bottom of an avatar's show looks like? BAM! There it is!' moment. Preferably the page where that happens, but I can find it myself if I can find the thread. Cheers

Just found this in the E3 2009 thread

Of course it does. But don't expect that to stop the anti-Xbox conspiracy theorists with camera envy from saying Milo is nothing more than a glorified Pinocchio to Molyneux's Gepetto

lol

Could GAF please tell me which game Mr. Smith is playing on the NES in this photograph? I thought it was "RBI" but not sure.

Is it safe enough to buy stuff from the PS Store with my Credit Card?
Haven't bought anything since early 2011.

PSN Cards are out at my local store, and I basically need to only add a couple Euro,
not gonna go for the full 20.

My PSP 3000 D-pad is kinda making creaking noises even though i didn't use my PSP for THAT long :( so not sure how long it's gonna last plus it's getting on my nerves.

I now wonder, since i still have quite a lot of meaty RPGs on UMD that are still unplayed, is my best option to maybe buy one of those E-1004s? I heard they're a lot cheaper than regular 3000s, but i also read they have a couple more inconvenients (Wifi, less RAM or something?) Or would it be cheaper to rebuy all my games on PSN and go for a Vita which i will buy regardless at some point? (I got around 10 sealed UMD games left)

I've been contemplating getting the PC Skyrim due to its high chances of being on sale soon, and I've been wondering what state the PC version is in now with regards to controls, stability, performance, etc. I'm a bit hesitant because I've had not-so-great experiences with the PC versions of Bethesda games in the past, but I've also noticed that they've been making much more of an effort with Skyrim's patches in fixing problems and making improvements compared to their other games.

I'm looking for the Quicka spell in Blue Dragon, and I can't find it at all. Most FAQs say it's in Pachess Town, but there's no Spell Shop there, and another one says it's in Buroy Town, but it's not sold there either. Help?

Why do Japanese games take forever to come out as opposed to western releases that take 2-3 years max?
They don't. Just because Team Ico and Square Enix are extremely inefficient doesn't mean that all Japanese studios are. For instance, Gust have managed to squeeze out a high-quality RPG for the PS3 every year since 2009 and they still have time over for other projects.

Fair enough.

Anyway, with the announcement of FF VII being re-released to PC/coming to Steam and adding achievements, will playing the game on the Vita (like Sony announced at E3) include trophies?

Is there a way to make Game Boy/Game Boy Color (games that work with both systems) boot in original Game Boy mode when played on a Game Boy Advance SP?

The Game Boy appreciation thread mentioned a couple of titles that are significantly different depending on mode (a couple were said to be better in OG Game Boy mode) and I wasn't sure if this was possible or not.

Who said that about what? Wouldn't you be better off asking in the appreciation thread?!

I only say, because I'd like to know this too!

I for one enjoy the story.
If you want to know what's going on then yes, bbs for sure.

In khII you encounter a group called Organazation XIII, but you don't fight thirteen members in khII but they are all dead somehow, well you beat all of the rest in chain of memories, only Sora doesn't remember.
Just an example

Quick question anti aliasing through Nvidia Control Panel. If you want to do AA through CP, do you enable override and then disable the AA in-game?

GAF, I want to buy Ore No Ryouri from JP PSN but I'm not sure if it's possible, is there a way to do it? is there some way to get JP PSN credit? I want it so bad. :(

So I'm 99% sure my PS3 just died :(. But it's not the Yellow Light of Death. Just nothing happens when you go to turn it on. No power up, no fan, no lights. Nothing. It's an original 60GB model, so I'd really like to keep it, and I can't afford to buy a new one for a long time anyway.

I think it's the power supply. If this is so, is it easy to replace? Will it last a long while if I replace it? I'm quite competent with electronics, as I took it for 4 years in high school and still build and tweak my own PC to this day. I see PSUs for $30 shipped on eBay, but will those be of good quality? What are my options?

Help me, GAF. you're my only hope :(.

I'm pretty sure the PSU on the original PS3 is self contained and relatively easy to replace. I'd try that before you send your console back to Sony and lose all your save games when they wipe your HDD.

I remember seeing a mini- preview in EGM years ago for a Harvest Moon-style game called "The Shroud." I thought was a hilariously ominous name for such a game.

Does anyone know whether this game ever came out or if the title was mistranslated?

will this wired xbox controller work on a PC?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003VD56KW/

It's only £19.99 delievered compared to the one advertised as being for PC by a third-party seller is roughly £27.00 including postage (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004JU0JSK/).

Is this just bs and the one designed for the 360 will work on PC or is there some difference that I am overlooking?

The wired 360 controller should work just fine. I think Vista/Win7 even have bult-in drivers for the controller.
