whats with the point pop-ups after killing a guy? Do we really need that?

Killzone-7-610x400.jpg

okay this one is actual 'money' or whatever so I GET IT. But what about the other 50 games that have it. I get bulletstorms pop ups too. But no reason for them to be on KZ3,Resistance, etc.

It gives the player direct feedback in front of them as to the reward they are getting for doing what they are doing. If the money on the top right hand corner just updated people (especially in the heat of battle) aren't going to remember what it was before the kill to see how many points a kill got them. The obvious method also allows a player to see that things like headshots or stealth kills are worth more points and so encourages them to do this in future to get more money.

It's just an obvious reward/incentive mechanism. It can be distracting or break immersion, and I think their should been an option to turn it off, but I don't think it is a major issue.

For the genesis model 1 (specs here) would it be ok to go over the AC adapter requirements? My Mom has tons of AC adapter and I don't want to have to buy one if I don't have to.

According to Wikipedia, the iQue GBA was the only Nintendo handheld with a region lock at the time. It will only play Chinese carts. Does anyone know if the same is true of the iQue GBA SP+ (AGS-101)?

Anyone?

It's a question, but it's geared more towards looking for suggestions. I'm really considering getting Borderlands 2, but I'm really unsure if it's a game I'll like and my budget is very limited right now.

Why I'm thinking about getting it
Dig the visual style
Appears to be open world
1st person shooter
Seems to have quests, etc.

My most played games this generation are the Halos, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Skyrim and Minecraft.

Is Borderlands 2 a good fit for me, and do I need to play the first one, or can I jump right in?

Thanks!

A question about Borderlands 2.

I started a co-op game at my friend's house on my profile, my character got to level 8. Copied the save to a stick and copied to my 360 with the intention of playing through single player with a different character. Hit 'New Game' and play for a bit, go back to the menu and my original character has disappeared, overwritten by the new one (there was no warning like there usually is when you hit new game)!

Can you only play one character/save at a time?

If so it means I can only play co-op with my friend (once a week) or have to have two saves (so two sets of challenges/guns) on the go at the same time.

Quick gaf help me out really quick as in I need a decision right freaking now.

Borderlands 2 or like two used games like darksiders 1 and infamous collection or something else.

Press Y to change the active character. (I believe it's Y, look at the bottom of the screen, it'll tell you which button to press).

Yeah, it kind of scared me at first as well.

I guess if you wanna play Borderlands with other people it might make sense to get on that now while more people are interested.

But then you save more money in the long run if you just wait awhile on Borderlands and get the inevitable GOTY collection.

I guess it helps to mention I want to stream said game on my channel. I'm not sure I know anyone to play with on live but I suppose I can ask gaffers in the official OT. Thanks, this might help me.

Why won't arcade sticks (specifically the TvC wii stick with usb adapter) work with psone classics on psn?

The up direction will not work.

Thankyou! (and to Unicorn who answered me in the OT thread) You've both made my day :D

If you buy a retail copy of a Steamworks game like Borderlands 2, does that mean you're still just technically buying a license that works on Steam since it's impossible to launch the game without it?

How much should I pay for a virtual boy in good condition without the box or the instruction manual and how much for a completed Red Alarm game with box and manual?

I bought a USB HP headset today, and the PS3 has no trouble recognising it, and the mic works. However, even though both input and output are set to the headset in the Accessory settings, the general audio is still coming from the TV via HDMI.

fake edit: Just researched it, seems like its only compatible with PC. Have I just wasted £12, or can I salvage it?

Can the Wii U surf X-rated sites on it's installed browser yall think?

Why are retailers afraid to stock 'AO' rated titles? It's just an 'A-O.' Sheesh. Freedom to talk, speak, jump, sing, all that Jefferson stuff.

AO titles wouldn't make money. It's not so much a retailer thing as it is a developer thing.
The retailers don't stock AO titles, so developers don't make AO titles. They wouldn't make money because retailers don't stock them. Now, do retailers not stock them because they don't make money or because it would affect their image?

So i'm starting a playthrough of the RE series. Should I play RE1 on PS1, or should I go for the Remake on GCN/Wii?

if he plays on playing everything, it might be more interesting to start with RE1 PSX and then end with REmake before he reaches RE4 or whatever.

Yeah I do plan on playing every game (although i've already completed RE4 a while ago).
Is the PS1 version of RE1 worth playing?

i'd say yes. if you're going with discs, look for the original, non-greatest hits, non-dual shock version of Resident Evil Director's Cut.

Hmm, actually I was planning on buying the PSN version.
Forgive my ignorance, but what's wrong with the "greatest hits dual shock" version of the game?

the main issue is the music

you go from this to ...this. if you have no choice, it's obviously not a terrible choice, but the new music is really bad.
