This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

What is a good way to view the games you've purchased on PSN?

I searched and found two ways:
- Look at your list of downloads (this method sucks because it's loaded with garbage like demos and avatar download, and you can't remove anything).
- Look at your transaction history (this method sucks because it's just like looking at a credit card bill).

Surely there is a way to easily look at a list of the games you own, such as on Steam or XBL, right?

There isn't.

You can't access it from that corridor. To get there
first get back up from where you fell down, then go right to the next big room. Go all the way down to the bottom of the room and bomb the two different looking tiles. Now you're in a room where you got the Charge beam. Power Bomb the pipe looking thing at the bottom and you're set.

Thanks! I needed the
gravity suit
though!

I'm considering buying Little Big Planet PSP - is there any way to download levels to it from a PC, without using a wireless connection? I am the only person in the world who still doesn't have Wi-Fi.

Please buy a wireless router. Even if it's a shitty $20 one. Just do it.

You can use Sony's MediaGo software to download PSP content to the PC and then copy it via USB to the PSP.

I think your only options for that are either getting a WLAN USB stick and route the internet traffic through your PC or really get a wireless router. The second option certainly is the better one.

Do the Tropico games allow you to really build big cities or should I be looking to the Anno games or somewhere else for that? This whole SimCity thing has me wanting to build enormous cities. I'm not a fan of Tropico's tone but it's not a deal breaker if it allows you to build the biggest by far. The time the game takes place in doesn't really matter.

IIRC the cities cap at 500 citizens (on the 360 version, I don't think I played the PC version much as I'd burned out on Tropico 3 already), so no, but it'll take you a good while to hit that many. I don't think it's what you're looking for but I still recommend the hell out of it anyway.
INEVITABLE COP-OUT ANSWER: Steam sale.

Okay. I remember downloading a lot of trailers on the ps3, but for some reason I can't find them under 'video' (there is no folder or file there). Since I don't remember deleting them all, does anyone know if there any other place I could look =/

Does the Wii U Pro Controller Dpad feel like the gamepad's dpad? (ie: how it feels to the touch) How much smaller is the dpad compared to the gamepad?

I'm thinking of getting FF VIII from PSN. Is there anything important I should know before starting? I.e. missable stuff such as the items for the celestial weapons in FFX, the chests you aren't allowed to open in FFXII or other beginner's traps that can screw you over sooner or later?

Can someone translate these messages?

My PSP seems to be acting up.

Edit: Seems it just says "Do you want to quit the game?". But this really shouldn't pop up randomly.

why does David Cage's games have bad everything exept graphics?

He is bad at writing and he probably doesn't realise it. Which is a shame, because some of the scenes in Fahrenheit (never played Heavy Rain) are really well done, especially in the beginning, but the story itself isn't even remotely good or coherent.

Yeah, "Do you want to quit the game?" and "Please wait a moment"

I can't decide which game to play. Help me, GAF.

1. "Asshole Thorton" playthrough of Alpha Protocol.

2. Pure melee playthrough of Fallout: New Vegas.

3. Pick up either MGS:R or Vanquish.

Get both Metal Gear Rising and Vanquish. Forget about steps one and two.

Heavy Rain is a huge improvement over Fahrenheit. You should give it a try if you own a PS3.

Thanks. So since this just randomly pops up while playing a game (most of the times after a few seconds), it's probably that my UMD drive's broken? I hadn't used my PSP in quite a while.

heh gaf,

i have previously bought mass effect 2 new

and since mass effect 1 and 3 are now on psn/ps plus respectively i am going to play them though again

if i buy mass effect 2 preowned now am i able to download all the dlc again?

or is it on the disc, my memory is hazy

thanks

edit: think i phrased this badly, when i say dlc i don't mean stuff i bought i mean, katsumi, shadow broker etc.

Or a broken button sending the signal.

Nah, PSP works perfectly if I take out the UMD and play something from the memory stick.

I suspect you're - effectively - both right. That is, I *think* that message pops up if you open the UMD drive while a game is running. Therefore, if it's not a button, but the 'drive closed' detector that's sending false signals, that'd fit the bill; not a fault directly with the USB drive, just with that clasp.

None that I recall. Try not to spread awful card rules (i.e. random). Also, talk to Cid before your first real mission.

I'm replaying Zelda: Link's Awakening for probably the seventh or eighth time, and I noticed a little detail that I'd never really considered before: the aligator painter in Animal Village is named Schule Donavitch.

Why? It's so random for such a minor character to have a name, let alone a first AND last name. Is there some significance or reference behind it?

Can someone point me in the direction of which thread Bethesda was supposed to be working with a Japanese developer??? For some crazy reason I keep thinking it has something to do with project Zwei, but can't be sure...

To save time and money, game companies buy a game engine (ie. the Unreal engine). Are there a such thing as an 3D model asset packs for sale? You would think with the ballooning costs of development, people would sell packs of models, textures, etc that developers could use in multiple games. Why pay a dozen modellers to design a dozen lamps a dozen times for a dozen games when you could just choose one from a pre-made list?

Yeah, it runs the risk of making the games look the same, but hopefully good developers would be smart about their use of these assets.

A lot of art assets in games are outsourced. It's a good way of lowering costs while getting material according to your specifications. There are also open source repositories that you can use if you have a small budget.

Thanks. You'd think developers would have their own personal 3D model "bank" that any new project could take from, with the condition that it must be tweaked in some way and then re-deposited.

It wouldn't surprise me if most developers had something like that. You can for instance see that several of the 3D models and animations in Demon's Souls are taken straight from King's Field IV. Why waste time redoing things from scratch if you can just reuse old assets?
