This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Is there anywhere to see the damn Evil Within gameplay footage without people talking over it? It's like this new trend where every game shown at E3 HAS to have someone talking over it and no sound... If anyone could help me find a video of it I'd be super happy!

Question about the Metal Gear Solid legacy collection. Are the earlier games just ports or HD remakes?

I'm torn between this and the HD collection

So I was messing around with the PC Version of the FPS Shadowrun and the framerate had some pretty interesting consequences on game mechanics. I think the game was built to be run at 30 FPS because if I increased the frame rate it would adjust mechanics such as weapon recoil, spin up time on a minigun and jumping on sloped surfaces. The higher the framerate, I went up to about 250, the worse these effects became.

I talked to a couple friends about it and they think that the PC version may actually be actually emulating the 360 version, which I find ridiculous if true. Since a lot of game mechanics can be tied to frame counts I seem to believe it.

Anyone with more knowledge or insight care to input their opinion?

Is the PSN version of FF6 okay? I remember hearing bad things.

If it's the PS1 version that's on PSN (and I think it might be) the load times are horrid, particularly because they happen at the beginning and ending of each and every battle. For me it made it unplayable, because it irritated me so much.

That seems silly, couldn't they just load the whole game to the RAM so it loaded much faster?

Does the PSP version of MGS Peace Walker support 3 player co-op?
I've tried looking, but all reviews state that it has 2 or 4 player multiplayer, so I just want to make sure.

I haven't turned my PS3 on much in the past few months, but how long have there been non-PS3/PSN related ads in the XMB ticker? I keep seeing "Get fast cooling relief with Rohto Cooling Eye Drops."

For some reason the OT version of the this thread was shut down 3 weeks ago so i will ask here.

Which one of these are better spec wise outside the extra ports? (like speed)

Second one.
The first one has a 2 core ARM Cortex A7 CPU running at 1GHz, the second has a 2 core ARM Cortex A9 running at 1.5GHz.
Rest of the specs are about the same.

I'm pretty sure there's a setting for that in the XMB. I never get those. Only ads I get are for PlayStation related ads.

When you say worse, you mean more or less? I'd imagine the former (more recoil, more spin up time).

Wii U Virtual Console/Game Pad Question

Alright, can anyone answer this? My kid is approaching the age where I want to start getting her into the games I grew up with. After checking the Virtual Console on the Wii (I don't own one, just looked online), I know I can get her into at least my top 25 from the NES, SNES and N64. However, I'm thinking the Wii may be a waste of money, since the WiiU is at the start of its "generation", and the VC is accessable there too.

So here's my question: I can't seem to get a clear answer on just how many of the VC games are available on the WiiU, and more importantly, which ones can be streamed to the game pad's screen. That's what I want, my kid, on the couch, with the game pad only, playing classic games. Is this possible?

Can someone explain to me how the hell this worked:

segamegacd32x.jpg

I never owned it but was intrigued by the concept. Was there some kind of switch to decide what system you were going to use? Or was it something you did within the OS?

Additionally and theoretically, do you suppose 32x and Sega CD would have done better if they were standalone consoles that didn't need the Genesis?

Never owned one but Id assume youd put a cartridge in the 32x with the cd being empty and it would auto play the cartridge game rght? And visa versa, put the disk in the cd part and no cartrige im the 32x and mega Cd disk loads?

I believe this Wikipedia list is accurate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Virtual_Console_games_for_Wii_U_(North_America)

This is the only stuff that streams to the controller right now and supports save states. You can buy Wii VC stuff from the emulated Wii menu, but it doesn't have fancy features and is TV only.

Nice! Thanks man. I was afraid of that... but still, as long as the full library is available. I guess I'll need to invest in some Wii U/Wii Emulation compatible controllers.

When you say worse, you mean more or less? I'd imagine the former (more recoil, more spin up time).
The spin up time took forever and the amount of shots fired was severely low compared to what it should be at 30 FPS. Recoil nearly disappears at a higher framerate conversely, my friend said that the amount of recoil could be tied to the frame count, but it doesn't get more severe as I increase the framerate, it goes the opposite to nearly zero.

Jumping up sloped surfaces and staircases is also broken at a very high framerate, you don't actually jump, it's like a mini bump and strangely animated.

Does anyone have an rss feed for retronauts that is actually complete? 1up.com/flat/podcasts/retronauts.xml only goes to the mid-50s or so and while you can download all the episodes from the site, it'd be much easier if I could just get them via rss.

Yo, I only played the first hour of Uncharted 1, and thought it was boring as shit, and kinda crappy gunplay.

Is Uncharted 2 really that much better, and does it deserve all the 10/10 buttlicking praise it gets?

And since Uncharted 3 SP is free on PS+, how is that?

I don't care about multiplayer.

I had a similar experience with Uncharted 1. Gunplay didn't feel great and the guys took way too long to kill.

But I loved Uncharted 2, as it improves on 1 in pretty much every way and really is deserving of the hype.

The games that are going to be for PS4 and PS3 (Battlefield 4, Watch_Dogs, Assassin's Creed 4, etc)... What should we expect the difference would be for both platforms? BF4 is probably less players in multiplayer (32) and sure graphics won't be as great and not 60fps... Are they removing content like maps and levels? Will I have the same experience playing on a PS3 instead of PS4? (XBox360 or Xbone as well)

I feel a bit guilty here. Back during the Xbox One reveal, when Phil Fish was having his twitter meltdown, I made a crack about him being a one hit wonder, and he blocked me. Now that he's making another game, should I go back and apologize to him, or let it be?

PS4 is wifi only right? My roomie preordered one last week and now our router just died. Anything in particular to look out for spec-wise on the router so it plays nice w/ PS4?

It should be the reason they say 2 or 4 is because the stealth missions i.e. any mission that aint a boss fight is limited for 2 people. Its only the boss fights that are up to 4 players to take down the mechs, but its not that bad literally half the missions are boss fights.

Hey guys, a while back there was a thread rating the working life at some prominant development studios. I remember that Valve and Riot were both very highly rated, does anyone have a link to that thread/article?

Not sure how it's taken me until yesterday to notice this, but why is there no "sort alphabetically" option for games on PS3?

I mean, it's not like there are no sort options at all. To have a sort feature and then not have "alphabetical" as one of the options just seems weird.

It's been 7 years of me cringing every time I remember that I can't sort A-Z.

Righteo.
Cheers, I assumed it was something like that, but just wanted to make sure.

As a PS Plus subscriber, along with being fine with digital distribution - and therefore having a large games collection - I'd be a lot happier if I could put my PSP/Vita bubbles somewhere.

Neither MS nor Sony have a very good solution for large collections of DD titles. They really need to fix that for the next generation. Steam's very good in that regard; I love the simple list of everything you own, with downloaded titles highlighted.

So I'm trying to fix my nephew's wii and it's hard to find a disc cleaner at my local stores. Online takes too long to ship and I want to do this by his birthday in a few days. I did in fact find a regular CD/DVD lens cleaner. Will it work for my Wii since they use the same basic systems to read discs?

Ok guys, I have a Wii U and want to get into the Super Mario Galaxy series. Should I start with SMG 1 or skip SMG 1 and start with SMG 2?

is USB 3.0 fast enough that I can install games onto an external hard drive without it hampering performance too much, if at all?

I assume at some point, the limiting factor will be the hard drive's read speed rather than the transfer speed, but I figured I might as well double check here.

I like SMG2 a bit more than the first, but I think they're both fantastic games. Unless you're short on time, I'd recommend playing the two games, starting with the first one.

I personally think Galaxy 2 is the better game, but the original is so much fun and joyous as a whole. You'll also appreciate some of the nods to the original that SMG2 has if you play the original first.

This is a question I want a lot of people to answer, but it's dumb and insignificant so I'll post it here.

I was watching a speed run of Super Mario 64 and I got reminded of something. You remember that in Snowman's Land, there's a section where you're trying to reach the top of the giant snowman, but when you get in front of his face he'll blow you away and you have to use the penguin to protect yourself?

My question is, did you guys walk beside the penguin or did you climb on top of his head to get past that part?

Apparently, the "normal" way to do it is to walk next to him, but as a kid I never thought of that and always jumped on his head.

I did both. I figured there were a lot of ways to get certain stars.

Went to download Ridge Racer (PS1) off the UK PSN store. It's not there.

How can this be?!?!

My PAL PS1 copy is cracked so I can't play it, and my NTSC version won't play in my UK PS3.

PSN PSOne Classics should have Ridge 1, SURELY?! Gutted right now, wanted a bit of classic 'Ridge/

Not a gaming question exactly....but does anyone know of a free photo hosting site besides photobucket? My bandwidth is all used up. I can't find the Stupid Questions thread so I figure I'd ask here.
