This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

on a 3DS, can you unlink your account, but keep any digital games you bought on the system for selling purposes?

I see there's "Delete Account" in the eShop, but it says it will delete my games.

I know you can sell a Wii U with digital games.

is removing any credit card info from the eShop and unlinking your Club Nintendo account enough??

Not yet possible. You can't unlink it, only transfer it to another 3DS, but you need both devices and an internet connection to perform the transfer. And yes, that is one of the reasons why so many people are upset about Nintendo's failure to provide a contemporary account system. (Also, you can perform this transfer only a limited number of times.)

I currently have an OG 3DS with a 32 GB SD card. If, in the near future, I wanted to upgrade to an XL (assuming it doesn't come preloaded with a game) could I just pop my 32 GB card in the XL and have all my saves, games, etc ready to go?

Back a few years ago, I saw this comic about Mario Party (might have been 7 or 8), and how Mario was getting more and more depressed every time there'd be a party.

There characters would go: PAAARTYYY and Mario looked more and more fed up.
Does that ring a bell to anyone?

Another one that's completely unrelated to games (sorry) is a picture of Captain Picard from Star Trek TNG, drawn in the style of South Park, standing on a bridge. And Worf in the foreground saying "Captain on the bridge.".

Sorry, stupid questions but would be very grateful if you can help!

So let's say I want to sell off my physical copy of Pokemon Y and get the digital version.

Is it possible to get the save data from the cart and use it on the digital version? I know you can backup saves now, but I don't see the option for physical carts.

No, those games, apps and DLC you downloaded will only work on the device they were first downloaded to (not sure about saves).
You will have to perform a System Transfer. For this you need both your old 3DS and the new one present (and both have to be connected to the Internet.) After the System Transfer is complete, you can then just put your old SD card into your new 3DS, and the games will work.

Yes, you just need to download the Save Data Transfer Tool from the eShop. With it, you can transfer save data from physical versions to your digital version.
I didn't use the tool yet, but from what I understand, the digital version of the game has to be already on the same SD card as the Transfer Tool for it to work.

Why is Far Cry owned by Ubisoft, when Crysis is owned by EA?

Didn't Crytek make Crysis as a spiritual successor to Far Cry? Or did Ubisoft purchase the Far Cry rights?

After leaving a dangerous situation and having to eventually return with some of the enemies still there.(still enough to kill you or course) Why the fuck does the travel system whatever it is almost always face you in the wrong direction when arriving?

Why will the PS4 launch without a new Ridge Racer?

I think Ubi had the publishing rights for Far Cry 1 (PC) and then bought the IP to do Far Cry Instincts for Xbox 1.
Don't know why Crytek chose EA as a partner for their Crysis games.

Does anybody else find the PSP form factor really uncomfortable? It's horrible, just feels very awkward to hold it in my hands (and my hands are relatively small).

I find it pretty comfortable to hold, unless it's a game in which you have to use the analog nub. Using the nub makes it very uncomfortable.

Yes!
I found it comfortable years ago when I first got it (I still have a PSP-1000)
But now that I'm older I just can't play it for more than 10 minutes.

Maybe not a question that necessarily belongs in this thread but, I want to learn about computer (architecture?) at a deeper level so I can read the discussions about dem flips and flops and zorks and have at least some of it sink in. Is there anywhere I can get a good beginners lesson to it? If it helps, years ago I took a course on MIPS but that ended up being a course where I studied to pass and not a course where I studied to learn.

Can DS, DSi, and 3DS all play the same regular DS multiplayer together? Both local and online?

I should have an answer for you this weekend if no one responds by then.

They should be able to. I have traded on Pokemon Black and White from a 3DS to a DS Lite before. In the 3DS settings menu there is a way to access the original DS internet settings as well as the 3DS' own internet settings.

Yes, they all support normal DS multiplayer.

thanks for the response. My buddies and I all miss Mario Kart DS local play, but not everyone has 3DS for MK7. I hope we do it again soon but I didn't want to risk being the jerk who shows up with a 3DS when everyone else has DS Lite and find out they don't talk to each other.

I purchased AC: Liberation HD on PSN and didn't realize the release date is 1/2014.

I want a refund... Am I kind of fucked at this point?

I don't see why you would be. Call them up as soon as possible. You don't have the good yet, why wouldn't you be able to cancel it?

When did you think it came out, btw?

Why can't video game consoles connect to 5 GHz internet? My router has both 2.4 and 5 and it's kinda annoying to use two different connections.

Im pretty sure no funds have been taken.

Go to account management, then to transactions, look for the purchase, click it and then an option to cancel pre order is waiting there for you to be clicked.

Because they're too old? I think the newer handhelds both support it.
But on the other hand, your router shouldn't have a problem handling both at the same time.

Thanks guys. I thought it came out Tuesday, 11/5. I also saw the option to download, but that was for a themed background that came with the purchase, not the game. There isn't an option to cancel, probably because I downloaded the theme in my haste thinking it was the game... it was late and I should have been paying better attention. Doh!

I didn't find it when I set up my 3DS yesterday, nor my Wii U. I've also heard that PS4 won't support it too.

Another stupid question:

I'm tempted to buy a Wii U today in preparation for SM3DW. The only other game that interests me is W101.

Is there a credible game site with a release schedule for Wii U software?

That, and what exactly is there to look forward to going into 2014?

Wikipedia is usually a decent source. It will at least list all major releases. The big retail releases for next year are Bayonetta 2, Super Smash Bros., Yarn Yoshi, Mario Kart 8, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and hopefully Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Online. That's probably it until E3.

well, I was going to recommend vgreleases, but apparently they don't list Wii U? They have PS2 ffs

Is Microsoft ever going to fix their problem with the Xbox website where I can't use my gift cards to download something unless I have my console turned on? Will removing my card and Paypal accounts from my account fix this?

I currently have two PS3s registered to my PSN account; one local, and one at my parents' for when I'm spending time there. I'm planning to get a PS4 - does that need one of the PS3s to be released before I can use it online, or does it have a separate tally of registrations?
