A friend and I were bored and were talking about something similar.

Did they make silent porno in the 1920ies? Complete with speech cards and mood music?

yup, they did. actually i don't know about speech cards, but there were these funny black and white porns with rather chubby women with lots of hair on them.

I was told that the 7-up logo was white and had the red dot because the guy who created it was albino, the red dot symbolised his eyes. Anyone know if there's any truth in this?

Why there isn't a NeoGaf Chat?

Ok, this is a serious question;

What do you do when you creampie inside a realdoll? Is there like a lid on the back of it or something?

I don't own one or anything, just curious.

What's that Garbage song where they're flying around in little, almost steampunk-ish, fighter planes in the video?

This must be a Japanese convention (like how Japanese ghosts have no legs). Even Sonic runs like that in Sonic Adventure 1.

Did Nintendo fund Factor 5 to keep them afloat? If so, are they now second party? If not, where are they now?

What is the reasoning behind Grape-Nuts name?

I'm trying to explain to my buddy what all the Home avatars look like. What's that word for those fake sun tan New Jersey kids that we laugh at?

*If it's considered racist, forget I said anything.

Wikipedia says
Neither grapes nor nuts have ever been ingredients in the cereal. The cereal is actually made from wheat and barley. The original formula for Grape-Nuts called for grape sugar, which is composed mostly of glucose unlike most other sugar sources and food sweeteners which are principally sucrose. This, combined with the "nutty" flavor of the cereal inspired its name. Another explanation originates from employees at Post who claim that the cereal got its name due to the cereal's resemblance to grape seeds or grape "nuts".

Alright, I get that you can't travel at the speed of light without infinite energy or zero mass or whatever, but what is that speed in relation to? Where's the non moving point in an expanding universe?

Every time someone is accused of being racist and defends himself with the argument that he has "black friends" he gets mocked and laughed at. Why doesn't that count as valid proof that the person might not be racist? Why would racists associate themselves with the people they hate?

I've always wanted to ask that.

me and a friend of mine were reminiscing music videos awhile ago and she brought one up that had this guy writing the lyrics to the song on a window he was behind. so when he wrote the lyrics it would just be backwards writing to the camera. neither of us could remember so I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction to the band and/or song.

Racism doesn't equal hatred. It's about treating one race differently from another.

I have a theory that japanese characters run with arms straight behind them because it's a lot easier to draw

I have a couple of official threads related questions:

2-If i want to make an official thread do i have to notice an admin or mod first ?

Is there a keyboard shortcut to switch between tabs in Firefox? I just switched over from Maxthon and am missing the abillity to switch tabs with ctrl+arrow keys.

Ctrl + Shift + Tab maybe ?
Oh and do you know the answer to my questions ? :3

Nope, that doesn't seem to work - also, I don't think you can get banned for bumping an official thread, not sure if you need a mods permission to make one though.

*edit, it's just ctrl+tab, thanks Fersis :D

For those who have looked into it more, is Aubrey de Grey full of shit or is life extension possible beyond a hundred years?

Alright question time:

We are all familiar with the famous Muppet345 rant about honor and FFXIII (It was HUUUUUGE) It even got referenced in Persona 4.

My question is: From where did this originate? People often attribute things to gaf that start at either 4chan, Something awful, or gamefaqs.

We have the original post:

"Square just shot themselves in the foot.

I don’t know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I’m an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It’s not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase FFXIII for either system, nor will they purchase any of Square’s games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Square has alienated an entire market with this move.

Square, publicly apologize and cancel FFXIII for 360 or you can kiss your business goodbye."

And this was made on the 14th. But then you have this video, also posted that day:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-uT...on.com/?tag=muppet345&feature=player_embedded

While the video is obviously a joke, did it come first? Did the gaffer get banned for a reference to something else (his later comments would suggest otherwise, though)

Furthermore, are both of these a reference to something somewhere else?

EDIT: Now I'm almost convinced it began somewhere else.

Well, I'm pretty sure it started here, because it was in the Gaf thread on the E3 360 conference , pretty soon after the announcement. Muppet was indeed banned for it. And he's never come back to say if it was a joke or not.

:lol

I still literally laugh out loud whenever I see this. I believe the first time I saw it was in the E3 thread on the gaming side last year. Unfortunately I cannot remember which E3 thread it was that I first saw it in. I remember the very first time I read it and I could not believe my eyes. Just the audacity and ridiculousness of it all.

I am not familiar with the Persona 4 reference though what's that about?

When a little kid stuffs a pea up his nose and it gets stuck why don't they just get the kid to sniff cayenne pepper to make the kid sneeze it out?

It definitely does not originate from that video however, that is the guy currently running the somethingawful forums and there was a thread about it on their forums, linking to the neogaf post (I'm pretty certain).

Gotta ask though, what was the reference to it in persona 4?

CSS HELP PLEASE!!

Ok, here's my site: http://www.4thtimearound.com

Here's my external style sheet: http://www.4thtimearound.com/css/global.css

If you look at my CSS, my last rule is for a class that gives elements a 2px white border. I set the image in my HTML (the big thinking man photo) to the "displayed" class. Why is it not showing up with a white border? It seems to work in IE but not Safair or Firefox.

Okay, I figured it out. Whenever setting a border, you MUST set a border style or it just won't show up (why did this not come up when I validated my CSS?).

BUT, now look at it. There's a border around the image, but it's showing up all funky (it looks like it's drawing two borders??). This is with the class in the CSS set as ".displayed". Whenever I change it to "img.displayed" it looks like it should.

Why is there this difference between ".diplayed" and "img.displayed"? Shouldn't they render the same results?

How many French Gaffers are?
I have a crush on Eva Green and i would like to know if French girls are as (Generally)cute as she.
There are some, I'm one of them, and no, they're not, sorry. I don't understand this kind of question, how could a country have more cute girls than another when we're all mixed up genes-wise?

I found a pretty good deal on a desktop/monitor combo on Newegg. The problem is the OS is 64-bit. Vista Home Premium 64-bit to be specific.

So, don't 64-bit OS's have lots of compatibility problems? Will I basically have to change the way I compute and what programs I use if I buy this? Can I click a button and make the OS 32-bit? Help me please. I'm not much of a techy person.

Just act really shy and reserved and eventually some chick will try to talk to you.
This is bad advice. This will only work on a girl that already likes you.

You need to pretend to be the most confident man in the world to get girls to like you, if they wanted to see someone full of self-doubt they would just date themselves.
