i have 2gb of ram on a vista 32bit machine. would upgrading to 4gb be worth it over upgrading to 3gb since the OS only handles up to 3gb?
 
Is there a modern, free version of the KidPix program i used to use when I was a kid?

My little cousins love doodling in MSPaint and I was wondering if they still made a KidPix-Like application (for free)
 
Hammond organs are electric and don't need tuning, right? Also, how easy is it to replace a speaker on an organ?
 
Opera has an amazing feature called "Fit to Width." Why is there nothing on Firefox that works as perfectly as Opera's "Fit to Width" feature?

Ugh I wish Firefox add ons worked with Opera so I could just switch.
 
Is there a way to upload videos longer than 10 minutes to youtube? I remember that there was a link to a form/documents for filmmakers to fill out but can´t find it anymore.

There used to be, but they changed it a while back. Now not even filmmakers can, IIRC :\

I think the old director accounts are grandfathered in with the original benefits and can still post long videos. The only way to get it now is to be approved for a partner account.
 
Ok i got a stupid question. I went on a date last night and at the end she told me "give me a call if your aren't doing anything" exactly how long should I wait until I call her?

Yep, they did have the cards! I was at the museum of sex and saw some. Some even were just sex jokes. Pretty interesting.

Give it a little bit of time. If you left a favorable impression, then wait it out and let anticipation get the better of her.

Also, by not calling back too soon, you don't come off sounding needy / desperate. As in, it's one way of showing you have a life outside of her.
 
I'm at home (as opposed to my college apartment) and it's late, and I'm hungry. Not being used to living at home, I'm overwhelmed with options of what to eat. I need help.

Should I:

Make a pizza?
  • Pros: Pizza is fucking great.
  • Cons: Long prep time, plus I'm not hungry enough to eat a WHOLE pizza.

Make some raviolis?
  • Pros: I'm really in the mood for ravs.
  • Cons: Sauce is frozen, I'd need to boil water, lots of cleanup.

Eat some leftover egg/sausage/cheese pizza-ish dish?
  • Information: This was made for Easter morning, and was frozen, so it's still good. It's kind of like a huge, giant deep dish pizza, only the crust is thin, and the contents are eggs, sausage, cheese, and some other shit. It's pretty good.
  • Pros: Easy to make. It's right there.
  • Cons: Not sure if I'm feelin' it.

Eat Cereal:
  • Pros: Doesn't get any easier than this!
  • Cons: Cereal... God, am I that lazy?

Or...

Come up with your own suggestion.

I need these answers quick. Time is hungry.

I have two:

1) Why do the back of shampoo bottles have the first ingredient as "Water (Aqua)". What's with the unnecessary clarification? Its water for chris'sakes.

2) This one was one that stumped my senior year high school physics teacher (go figure) 10 years ago: Why doesn't wood melt? However, this applies to probably a great number of materials, so it could be expanded to "What qualifies something as meltable?"

Granted, the question was mostly to make the teacher go fucking nuts. He was a neurotic, psycho, scat-loving freak (long story -- lets just say he ended up being caught brown-handed). I remember him writing the question on a side of the dry-erase board under some "to-do" things, but we never got an answer.


Bonus story: He argued with the entire class one day over the name of the Jupiter moon Io. He somehow couldn't grasp that proper nouns are capitalized, and while a capital I and lowercase L look the same, they're not. So one of the maaaaany jokes that year was to torment him with questions about "Lo".

This one is explainable, but it's materials science. Materials can become amorphous and liquid-y when they have very low modulus of elasticity. Other materials can combust at a certain temperature (magnesium at room temp, wood at extremely high temperature) because of their crystal structure.

Basically, it comes down to the bonds in the material.

Depends on how rich they are and how much they need it.

I tutored 6 Norwegians back in uni for $60 an hour ($10 each). I taught them signal processing. Good times.
 
Is the tutee a cute girl? I once got paid back in a date at an asian food festival and a home cooked lunch. We ended up hooking up, but I really shouldn't have done so in retrospect.

I remember seeing an emoticon around here several times, possibly as a user's tag or avatar or something. It's based on that animated one with the emote saying 'words' but instead reads 'swedes.' I'm not sure if this swedes emoticon is particular to this forum, but I've never seen it anywhere else and I can't find it by searching.

Where can I find the swedes emoticon?
