4. Why is Finnair the only airline in the world showing the wheel-camera feed in the passenger monitors when landing and taking off?
I was on a flight just recently that showed external camera's on the passenger tv screens. I can't remember what airline it was tho, might have been Air NewZealand

my cousin's PS3 has a hard time staying connected to the Ps3 network but he can still go on the internet with his ps3 when this is going on...he also has a good cable connection. is it the ps3 network or can it be his ps3?

Here's 2:

1. I hate when vending machines give me currency back that isn't native to my nation. When I get a quarter back, it should NOT be Canadian unless the machine is willing to accept Canadian coins.

2. When people throw trash out of their car windows. Seriously, how rude.

This isn't the complaints department champ.

Ask a question or GTFO.

But why does it deposit during sleep and not when you are awake?

Saliva is mildy acidic, deterring bacterial growth somewhat. When you are asleep your mouth produces very little saliva, allowing bacteria to grow much faster.

Wow dude, calm down lol

Here's one: Why are you so angry?

I got the wrong idea about the thread. My bad, it's not the end of the world haha

Nice. I wonder what is the purpose of that feature. I guess producing saliva is a resource taxing process?

Actually a Google search tells me that saliva is actually slightly alkaline, not acidic. Same result, though. Not sure why you produce less during sleep, but I suppose it's because the rest of your body's processes slow down as well.

Saliva is an antibacterial substance. It kills germs. So yes, during asleep you don't produce enough saliva that your mouth fucking stinks.

Cool.

Ok, now explain the itching phenomenon for me. Why does skin itch, and why does scratching it make you feel better?

edit: why does bacteria stink? Aren't our mouths swirming with bacteria anyway? Why does that bacteria not smell as bad as sleep-bacteria?

Was answered just before. Saliva kills bacteria in everyday life but when you go to sleep your saliva glands slow down a little and bacteria isn't killed as fast.

It could be both, but I'd say it'd be the network.

Is it dangerous to use a 2-pronged adapter to plug a 3-pronged cord into a wall outlet without a ground? Only during storms, or what?

Been probably asked before but, how many posts, or months, does it take to get rid of the Junior tag? :lol

Can someone tell me why I can't play hi-def content on my PC without terrible framedropping? I just bought a new video card that uses the Radeon HD 4770 GPU specifically for this purpose and it hasn't helped a bit. I'm running Windows 7 (used to run Vista and it was the same way), I have two gigs of RAM, and my processor is 3.00 GHz. Those are all decent specs, right? And as far as codecs I'm using the CCC pack and playing my videos with VLC (when I use Windows Media Player Classic, the audio and video go out of sync and the framedrops are just as bad). With VLC, still though, I get massive framedrops and the entire video will hang up every ten seconds or so.

Also, when I go to watch the video, I close every process I possibly can so that there's nothing pulling on my system at all.

What am I doing wrong?

If it's 1080p video it's very demanding. Are your GPU drivers loaded properly because it should be taking the workload off your processor. I have a Phenom II x3 720BE and can play 1080p movies using my on board video.

It happens after something like 200-250 posts, or 3 months, iirc. My figures could be slightly off, in which case checking the FAQ forum is your best bet. :)

Well it's been more than 3 months and i don't feel like spamming a bunch of ":lol :lol " after every funny posts on GAF to reach 250+ posts. :P Guess i'll have to wait.

In cases when you have a scab, once the skin underneath has fully healed, your body will produce the itching sensation around the scab for you to scratch it thereby removing it. The reason it feels good is to encourage the itching.
As for the itching sensation gotten from a woolly jumper for example, I would assume it's some sort of skin irritation prompting you to itch/scratch it away.

1. Why are "colonel" pronounced "kernel" and "corps" pronounced "core? It doesn't make any sense.

2. Don't people really say "bye" when they end a call in the US? People in TV shows just close the phone once they heard/said what they needed.

3. What's the phone-ringing type of sound you always hear once in an Airbus A320 when it's on its final approach to landing?
1) I don't know about "colonel" off the top of my head, but "corps" is derived from French ("body") and retains its French pronunciation in English.

2) I've seen both, but it's far more common to indicate when you're ending a call. With that being said, "bye" isn't all that common: "gotta go," "talk to you later," "see ya," etc.

3) I don't know about a phone ringing, but every aircraft I've been on (a LOT of them at this point) uses audio tones to alert the flight crew to certain events. The single ring for the attendants on final approach seems to mean "no kidding -- sit down now, we're <10 minutes from the ground." The single ring ~10 minutes after takeoff means "we've completed initial ascent -- it's safe for the attendants to move around." (That one also means "electronic devices approved," so I don't even wait for the announcement anymore.)

Most of them come with ground wires that you can wedge in under the center screw.

What about if an ant crawls on your skin and it sort of tickles and then you feel compelled to scartch yourself?

All you need is 200 posts if it's been more than three months.

To add to this, why is Kansas pronounced Kansas, but Arkansas is pronounced Arkansaw?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._state_name_etymologies

Arkansas Kaw, via Illinois akaansa Borrowed from an Illinois rendering of the tribal name kką:ze (see Kansas, below), which the Miami and Illinois used to refer to the Quapaw.

Kansas Kaw kką:ze Named after the Kansas River, which in turn was named after the Kaw or Kansas tribe. The name seems to be connected to the idea of "wind".

The names are renderings of two different Indian Tribes. Kką:ze, which is what the Kaw tribe called itself. And akaansa, which is the Illinois rendering of Kką:ze, which is what the Illinois tribe called the Quapaw tribe (They probably used the name generically for both the Kaw and Quapaw tribes. I don't know.).

The pronunciation of Arkansas didn't become official until 1881 though.
The pronunciation of Arkansas was made official by an act of the state legislature in 1881 after a dispute between the two U.S. Senators from Arkansas. One wanted to pronounce the name /ɑrˈkænzəs/ ar-KAN-zəs and the other wanted /ˈɑrkənsɔː/ AR-kən-saw. (My work computer doesn't do Unicode.)

Whereas, confusion of practice has arisen in the pronunciation of the name of our state and it is deemed important that the true pronunciation should be determined for use in oral official proceedings.

And, whereas, the matter has been thoroughly investigated by the State Historical Society and the Eclectic Society of Little Rock, which have agreed upon the correct pronunciation as derived from history, and the early usage of the American immigrants.

Be it therefore resolved by both houses of the General Assembly, that the only true pronunciation of the name of the state, in the opinion of this body, is that received by the French from the native Indians and committed to writing in the French word representing the sound. It should be pronounced in three (3) syllables, with the final "s" silent, the "a" in each syllable with the Italian sound, and the accent on the first and last syllables. The pronunciation with the accent on the second syllable with the sound of "a" in "man" and the sounding of the terminal "s" is an innovation to be discouraged.

Yes, I lived in Arkansas for 9 years. The standard response to out-of-staters who pronounce it "Our Kansas" is to punch them in the back of the head.

I think this might be it. I have this thing called the ATI Catalyst Control Center and I'm watching it as I play the video and the little meter for "activity" is never going above 5%, which makes it seem like the ATI GPU isn't doing anything. So I might have to tell it to decode (or whatever) the video because right now my computer's processor is doing it?

When I look at my "display adapter" it says it's an AMD 760G. Is that the chipset that the HD 4770 uses or do I have the wrong drivers installed?

Has anyone gotten a Cisco CCENT or CCNA qualification?
How worthwhile is the former? Got a chance to do it in 2 weeks for €400, with possibility of CCNA after.

Are you talking about tying your tie so it goes behind the vest? How about tie the tie and then put on the vest?

ATI's site doesn't even offer driver downloads for the 4770 yet. :(

That's your motherboard chipset , that means your video card is not doing the decoding at all.

My question:

How do you view the number of posts someone has made in a thread, I have seen a list before but can't figure out to do it myself.

Ooh, I gots me one (well, two).

1. Which program do you use to edit flv files?
2. Adobe Premiere doesn't work with MP3s?

If you're, say, a millionaire and have all your money in the bank, and you travel down to the Amazon on vacation and go missing and you're declared dead after a certain amount of time, what happens to your money? And then what happens if you come back?

just a random thought from a conversation I was having earlier...

Yes. And don't bother with your hair. You only need to worry about the 4 key areas: Armpits, Asshole, Crotch and Teeth.
