Another cooking question: how in the hell do I cook eggs on a stainless steel pan without making a huge fucking mess? Both fried and scrambled eggs are turning out horrible.

It sounds like the pan is too hot? Use a medium low heat. For scrambled eggs, I like to use a low heat and keep stirring until it thickens slowly; the consistency should stay even. For fried eggs, I go a little hotter so it keeps it's shape, but careful not to go too hot. Water drops on the pan should just bead and pop, not steam off instantly.

I would highly suggest using a non-stick pan for eggs. But if stainless steel is all you've got you're going to have to use a very liberal amount of oil to have it come out without sticking. And as parrotbeak suggested a low-medium heat should also make things easier to control.

Put about 2 tsp of butter in the pan over medium heat. When that gets foamy add the eggs (2 per person), and don't be pokey about it. Add both eggs quickly, mix them up a bit with a hard spatula, and add about a tbls of milk per 2 eggs. Mix that all up, add salt and pepper. Once the eggs start cooking they're gonna cook fast, so don't walk away once the eggs go in the pan. Remove them as so as there's no visible liquid. When it comes to eggs, cooked in the pan means over-cooked on the plate.

edit: don't try cooking them over low heat, it'll take forever and they'll come out rubbery. Cook on medium and just don't walk away. Stir constantly.

How do you stop remembering the stupid things you've done? I always remember them, all the time, and it's making me miserable. ):

Any places do free eye exams? I don't have insurance nor do I have a cent to my name to get my vision checked for a job. It just needs to be snellen chart for crying out loud. :(

I had a problem with multiple wasp nests under my deck over the summer. Took one down but was too windy to get the others. Since it's 30 degrees farenheit now, can I just whack those nests without fear of angry wasps attacking me?

What do you need out of it? Your prescription or just somebody who can verify you can read from a certain distance?

A basic physical at one of those in-store clinics might be able to provide the latter.

Is there anywhere I can view an example for of a manuscript (for a novel)? I'm supposed to write one and I'm having difficulty getting started. I've found some instructions on how to format and such, but I'd much prefer to actually see what one should look like. It would be even better if it was for a book I was familiar with, such as a public domain story, but at this point I'm not going to be picky. I've Googled around and haven't been able to find a suitable example, and many of the sites seem to be trying to sell me something, or trying to infect my computer, or both. Any help would be appreciated.

It can't hurt to try.

When news anchors are saying the news they have little papers in front of them. What's the point of that if they read everything from a teleprompter? Also sometimes they write stuff on there, what are they writting? These thoughts have plagued my mind for decades.

I think I once read this is for situations where there might be a malfucntion and the teleprompters bug out.

Secret Service wants to know if my uncorrected vision is Snellen 20/60 and Baily Love 20/63. I called Wal-Mart and those fuckers said they only do full exams that costs $65.

Depends how far away you sit currently and will with the larger lower res set, but yeah, most likely.

I think they have notes or a copy of the teleprompter stuff to make sure pronunications or the proper degree of seriousness is displayed.

They then check off stuff to keep track.

I've asked this a number of times before, but I figured I'd ask again considering I'm running out of chances to fix things: My Samsung P2770HD has a light circle in the middle. During dark scenes in movies (or credits) there's a halo in the center of the screen. It's fairly minor, but annoying. Is this something I should just come to expect from LCD, or should I exchange it for another screen?

Monster Cable. Otherwise the aliens are gonna steal your signal.
A serious answer: buy the cheapest one you can find. The signal is passed digitally. A $5 cable will perform exactly the same as a $100 one.

So I've got this PC here, when I plug my headphones in the front jack, the rear jack (where my speakers are plugged) seems to be "cancelled out" or something and I only have the sound coming in the headphones. This is annoying as I constantly have to plug/unplug the headphones and I fear that the plug will wear out.

I'm on windows 7, is there a way I can have both plug working at the same time?

Is there a listing someplace of guests with the highest number of appearances on the late night shows, specifically Letterman? I've been searching around for about half an hour (CBS, wiki, imdb, etc) and not come up with anything.

This may be of use; there are some posts towards the bottom that seem to have a solution.

What would cost more energy (electricity): a fridge close to fully packed with stuff or an empty fridge? My gut feeling is that when a fridge is packed with stuff, it'll take less energy to keep it at a certain temperature after the products are cooled down. Thoughts?

Thanks, I don't know what I did exactly but its working

While I'm at it, I have another question even if I think I already know the answer :(. If I put two xbox on local network and have two Borderlands games, can I play a DLC where the license is only linked to one gamertag hence one xbox?

Since you can play splitscreen with 2 gamertags, logic would be that you can host a dlc game and invite a friend who doesn't have it, right?

If the fridge is starting cold in both cases it shouldn't matter. Since the amount of heat entering the fridge through insulation leaking and whatnot is constant regardless of what is contained within the fridge the amount of cooling it needs to do is also constant.

I think a fridge packed with stuff would take longer to cool everything down if it started at a higher temperature, since air should be significantly easier to cool than whatever the item in the fridge is.

All this of course is independent of when the most temperature change occurs, which is when you open the door.

I'm rearranging my home theater that I setup years ago, and I just noticed that on my surge-suppressor power strip four of the eight outlets are labeled, "Transformer". What's special about those outlets and which components do I want to plug into them?

Okay, cool. I was talking to my dad on the phone a couple of hours ago, asked the same question, he thought it'd take less energy once the fridge is full and cooled. He said his grandma used to stuff their old fridge full with old paper when it was almost empty and not used much.

Just adding this to the new page, because it would really help me out.

Can anyone remember that uber patriotic music video where there is a guy with real Alice Cooper style hair singing about how awesome the USA and freedom are, and there are firefighters and military people in the clouds? And a woman with a baby at a graveside?
