Why is there another power outage in the Inland Empire again? Last year there was a similar outage and we didn't get electricity back until like 2 AM.

I called Edison and apparently there's over 3,600 houses without electricity!

I understand about the former issues with image shack on GAF, but I imagine that was ages ago...I've probably posted literally no less than 60 images on GAF in the past year all linked from Image Shack and I can assure you, all these images are still up in their respective threads.

I work at a relatively small company based out of Asia, we have an email server set up there that works fine, but it's slow and sometimes problematic for the few of us in America, is it possible to get another server in America that "extends" the original server and if so how? We're thinking of getting a second U.S. Domain but we'd prefer to be able to use the same domain name for all our email accounts.

It doesn't sound like you know very much about what happened. Was it working when you sold it, when did they find out it wasn't working, if anyone's upset. Were it me, I would pay my mother, get a hold of the calculator, and gauge its state.

But I used that one via my iPhone since I was at the VietThai restaurant at the time.

Anybody know the legal boundaries of copyright law for photos used in digital art?

Obviously the artist isnt getting permission for each of these, and the quality varies from each to each (his boba fett and yoda ones are AMAZING!). That said, he's basically cutting them out in photoshop and then applying some neat filters and learned techniques, then selling them for $150 a pop (printing to canvas is actually expensive).

Regardless, what's the legal boundary here? Is this guy breaking the law? Is he too small of an operation to matter? Does this fall under pop art, and is that enough to protect him from getting his ass sued?

Yes, I'm interested in doing the same (and can), but would at least like to hear any of your thoughts on the issue.

Depending on a number of factors that I have no real grasp over (is the work in question still copyrighted ? could a US court consider this product a parody (or transformed enough as to not be considered purely derivative) ? What's the extent of the adverse effect of selling this product on the original ? etc.), it does look like copyright infringement.

There could be a number of applicable defences/exceptions though (not sure about fair use).

Don't quote me on this though.... Where I am, the selling of this kind of things, provided of course the original work is not public domain for one reason or another, would surely be a copyright infringement. On two different counts : economic and moral. But then again, the extent of the latter (which basically boils down to : modifying the original works without having obtained its author authorisation and without giving proper attribution) is one of the main differences between Civil law countries and the US as far as intellectual property is concerned. Here selling modified copies of an original artwork would be a big no no (before a court of course, there's always the possibility of actually falling under the radar and not getting sued).

Anyway, unless you move to France, I would seek some advice from someone other than myself on the matter

It's a 1st gen so I would imagine I wouldn't get more than £50 for it and around £80 for the Hero.

Qualified yes. Some email server products do allow background replication between instances. You need to research that.

I have a reasonable amount of seed capital saved and available so I don't necessarily need to try and get any sort of credit terms and I would be able to purchase a decent MOQ.

My question: How do I hook up with a wholesaler willing to sell me a quantity of games at a price that would enable me to make a decent enough profit margin (as I'm just experimenting at the moment, I have absolutely no clue as to what margins are considered acceptable / standard). I've trawled through various wholesale forums etc but I've not found many suppliers willing to deal with me, unless I want to order everything in from Hong Kong :-\

Primarily, I'd love to know of any EU based wholesaler. NA/JA might also be an option as I'd be very interested to carve out an import "niche", but obviously, it'd need to be a wholesaler willing to retail to the EU. I'd rather steer clear of pre-owned titles until I have a physical sales and storage space, but would also consider looking at wholesale pre-owned stuff.

Situation:

• The elevator is currently at Floor 2
• There are people inside the elevator wanting to go to Floor 4
• You are on Floor 3 and want to go down so you press the down button on the elevator.

The elevator will go up because the people inside have pushed "4". It will skip your floor on the way there because (1) you don't want to go up, and (2) the people currently on board don't want to get off at Floor 3.

Had you pressed the up button instead it would have stopped at Floor 3 and allowed you to board also.

I just upgraded from DSL to FiOS, what do the little bars down in the bottom right corner of my screen mean?

The icon there used to look like a little screen with a yellow triangle that would pop up when I lost my connection (which was happening all the time with DSL), but now I have five bars there and usually four of them are lit, sometimes only two or three, but I've never actually lost my connection in the five days I've had FiOS, thank goodness. But I didn't think signal strength mattered for FiOS since it's a hard-wired connection, I thought either you're connected or you're not, so what do those bars signify?

It depends on the type of tutoring, your level of knowledge, and the people you expect to tutor. There are probably community centers and schools you can contact. Flyers are great.
