GAF, what are these and how do I eat them?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myrica_rubra

Pop them in your mouth, spit out the core.

Alternatively, you can preserve some in baijiu to get drunk off of later.

Way jealous you have some, I've only had the chance to eat them twice in my life.

You should follow the 3-tier model as closely as possible, and reduce the amount of logic in the database layer as much as it makes sense. The focus should be on DRY. This usually means that simple data access snippets are embedded in the business logic layer.

There is no single rule though! So try things out, I suppose.

For videophiles

Assuming you have two identical movies, one in 1080p and one in 4k.

Both use the same range of colours, and their bitrate is exactly proportional to their resolution.

If viewed on a 1080p TV, which one will appear to be clearest, with the most defined details, etc..?

I'm tipsy and lazy, but i was wondering if anyone knows which thread it was where "sharp knees" was first coined?
I remember reading it when it was first posted but can't really remember the subject.

Depends on the scaling method of the program being used to render the video and the compression of the two videos. If they're both uncompressed then you'd get the same effect as you'd get when you do that in a game or when you take a tiled shot; the 4k would look better (though on TV's pixels are comparatively huge and the difference could be unnoticeable).

Hmm... from the examples I found online, one person used a stored procedure for something really simple and the other just wrote it out. I guess I'll just have to try it out like you said!

I tend to prefer stored procedures because I think it makes the code look cleaner. I'm biased though because I work with SQL all day :lol

I'm having trouble getting my political views to show up on Facebook. When I select the choice "Other" it never shows up on my profile, but any other choice (e.g. Republican, Democrat, etc.) shows up just fine. Anyone else had this issue? Can anyone quickly test if for me to see if it's just my problem? Is Facebook just keeping me from being wishy-washy?

Choose a side. Don't tell me you're an agnostic, too.

How does this sorcery work?

It's a one frame non-looping animated png. APNG's a non-standard format that Mozilla cooked up, supported only by Firefox and Opera. The other browsers display the first frame.

FF5 displays the first frame for me as well (OS X). I didn't check it with other browsers or fiddled with a PNG tool to look at the core data though.

Anyway, APNG follows the PNG standard in principle insofar as custom data is allowed in the protocol, provided that the basic frame can be represented by any PNG viewer.

I've upgraded to Firefox 5, but there's something bothering me with the tabs. When I close one out of multiple tabs, they don't adjust shape until I move my mouse away from them. Is there a way to not have that happen?

I just downloaded IE9 (I had IE8) and I swear every website looks sort of blurry and strange now. Is it just my imagination? Can I make IE9 look more like 8?

Probably something wrong with your ClearType settings.

Thanks, I'd never heard of cleartype. Looks like cleartype can't be turned off in IE9 for some reason from what I've read. Looks like it's back to IE8 for now.

The Terminators have a mission to wipe out all Humans, so what will they do when their mission is complete?

"oh....I guess we better just patrol this barren wasteland one more time, just to be sure"

"But we wiped out all the humans three millenia ago, pretty sure they're all gone by now, Boss"

They will have no purpose and hence will have caused their own demise by carrying out their mission ???

Why do I see broken down cars on the side of the road with shirts rolled up in the window? Is that supposed to mean something?

It's generally suppose to be a white shirt/towel, and yes. It means that this car is broken and needs help.

type cleartype into the start menu search, select Adjust ClearType Text, and go through all that. A lot of programs use it, you should properly calibrate it.

What the fuck?!

Yes, why is that?

H2O, in the form of water vapor, easily attaches to methane molecules by the chlorine atom, or the sulfur released from bacteria, making the foul smell more readily attach to the nostril lining, subsequently sustaining the odor longer than in a dry climate. In addition, warm vapors will cause any crusted mucus to soften and disengage, providing more surface area within the sinuses. And lastly, (if you are male) the qualitive factor of "worse" is a perception of foreign gases - as to our own emissions, the qualitive factor is "better."

Why is it that "there is" seems to only be appropriate to a singular subject, while "there are" is for plurals, while "there's" is appropriate for both, while there is no proper contraction for there are?

I've been looking into buying a new plasma and was wondering what the difference is between Moving picture resolution and Native Resolution. I've been looking at Panasonic S30s which have a moving picture res of 900 and last years S2 models which have 1080. Is this even a big deal?

"There's" is not appropriate for both. If people are using it that way, they're erring.

Whats up with groin/ball sweat. Whenever I go to the gym and then about to have a shower I like to run my hands in that general area and I always sniff for some odd reason. Why does it smell different than armpit sweat?
