Help me understand something -- do monitors require drivers too, or just video cards?
I disconnected my PC from my monitor so I could take it over to my new Plasma to try out its PC-Input feature. Seemed to work fine, but I noticed several applications wouldn't work correctly (games, video/media players, etc), usually issuing the error that they couldn't find an appropriate display device. Performance also seemed sluggish, with window movement and scrolling being extremely choppy.
So I was like, whatever, I'll disconnect it for now, do some research into what I have to do to get it to recognize and use my TV as a monitor, and just go back to using my PC monitor.
I reconnect it to my PC monitor, and the same problem persists. It's like it doesn't recognize this monitor either any longer. Old resolutions I was using (1650xsomething) are missing, and the same problems as I experienced when trying to use it with my TV are present.
It was working perfectly until I disconnected from this LCD monitor to begin with, so I'm skeptical about having to actually download something now to tell the video card or PC how to use this monitor, but is that indeed what I have to do?
edit- Hang on...any evidence that my computer is using my 9600 GT is now gone, in display properties and what not. I'm guessing the PC reverted to using its on board video card. No wonder everything's fucked up. I'm a retard; how do I tell it to start using the GT again? :lol
