I need to mount my typography final onto bristol board and hand it in by tuesday . Wtf is bristol board? My professor says it's fairly common but I've looked through multiple stores and none of the customer service reps have ever heard of it. Need help asap!

Bristol paper, heavyweight paper

There's this Hyundai commercial where this girl attached to these elastic-bungee type cords, and then pulled by an ATV and then let go. She slings back and forth. What I want to know is whether the video is real or faked. And if it is real, is it a known extreme sport?

I have a Panasonic EDTV Plasma flat-screen (from '03).

Since it's not HDTV, is it worth getting a Blu-Ray player? Will I notice the difference at all?

From a few pages back, never got answered. Anyone?

I don't know why this is so confusing for me:

I want to buy a new and larger bed, but I'm not sure what all I need. Mattress and bed frame are obvious, but are boxsprings actually necessary? Headboards?

Also, how much is this likely to cost me (for a queen-size)? And should I try to buy all this stuff in one place, or do I need to shop around for the different bits?

Thanks in advance for any help.

headboards are decorative, not structurally required.

you can just get a 4 piece metal frame, with wheels on the bottom, bare-bones style

Is there a web browser that has a mute button for a specific tab?

Like say I am browsing the web and have Pandora open in one tab and in another tab I happen upon another site that insists on playing sounds/music (flash or non-flash) that I can't necesarily mute. Is there a way to just mute all sounds from that one tab and be done with it?

The fact that some websites automatically play sounds/video is the worst thing about casually browsing the internet. 90% of the time these sounds are unwanted obtrusions. It's one of the reasons why browsing on a cell phone is sometimes more appealing than browsing on a desktop/laptop :\

Boxspring is required, unless you want to roll Japanese style and throw a futon on the floor. Headboard is not.

At most mattress outlets you can get a whole set, mattress, box spring and basic brown metal frame for around 250-400 bucks, depending.

At a Chinese food place, are white rice and steamed rice interchangeable terms?

Sounds right to me. Around here you have white rice or fried rice.. I would guess they cook the white rice by steaming it.

Hi,

another question for GAF to help me solve. (ill try and refrain from overusing)

the story so far....

I have a external HD that has been working fine until i took it to my gf's place and when to plug it into the PlayStation for use to watch some movies. at this stage the HD didn't show up under the selection menu (which it had done previous times before)
so i plugged it into my laptop again to see if it was the PlayStation messing around. this again had the same problem of the HD not showing up under my computer.
at this point i was under the impression that the case had failed somehow and the drive wasn't getting power so i went and brought a new case and set it all up.

after this i went to plug the new enclosure back into the laptop and see if i could see the drive. no :(

so i went googling to see if anyone else had the same issue and how they solved it.
so far i have 2 semi ideas but this is getting out of my league.

the first solution I've seen is that the drive (external) has the same letter assigned to it as another drive (I've only got the laptops drive and the external)
so first question is, could someone please tell me how to assign a new drive letter? I'm running windows vista and all the tutes so far have got me up to disk manager and then loose me :(

thinking that changing the drive letter didn't sound right i kept looking and then noticed that the drive (under disk manager) is 'unallocated' ? the hell does that mean?

my friend (when he had the HD) was able to connect to it and thought it was all working fine, but we tried again last night and it would not show up on his computer either?

when the drive shows up on my computer (only under disk management) i can click to initialize it? what does this actually imply? will it format the drive?
I'm worried that ill loose photos that i have saved on the computer! i know I've been meaning to back it all up but it just never happened, so id rather not format it if it can be avoided.

Edit: ok it wont show up under disk management on his computer at all now so im not to sure where i go from here?
data recovery software is the option im looking at now but without it even showing up is it possible to run?

Now that my vaguely techy tech support department has shut down and I'm being bumped to plain old isp tech support I'm thinking of looking elsewhere for a job. Most areas of IT can be learned pretty easily with certification courses for those so inclined.

Do any of you working in IT in the UK know which areas (if any) it should be fairly easy to get a job in? ie areas in high demand. I've been studying for an MCSA for some time on and off, as system administration is something I'd like to get into. Maybe database administration is more in demand, or java programming, or website stuff (html, css, php, js et al) I could probably have a look around some recruitment sites and find out, but since I'm at work I don't know if that would go down so well!

Any experience folks can share would be appreciated.

Does anybody feel like their senses slightly predict the future? For example, when I'm sleeping and I fall out of bed, I wake up before I hit the ground. If I'm sleeping and someone screams into my ear, I feel like I wake up a fraction of a second before they scream.
Am I just batshit, or does anyone get this?

Might be your head playing tricks on you.

I have this thing where sometimes a sequence of events will occur (i.e., drop a spoon, then hear a baby cry, then get approached by an old friend, etc.), and I'll swear to myself that I've dreamt or imagined these things happening in the same sequence, but really it's just my memories behaving screwy.

That's not just deja vu?

Guys, I'm looking to sell my iphone 3GS 16GB on ebay in order to then upgrade to the new one this summer. Is there anything I should know before doing so? Should I format it? What's the difference between jailbreaking and unlocking? Should I do this in order to sell it for more? I bought it in November so is it still under warranty? I only ask because this individual seems to be getting high bids and I assume it's because he mentions it's still under warranty.

Thanks guys

NY GAF!

I need to get to Copiague, NY on Long Island. Should I fly into La Guardia or into Long Island Islip Macarthur? La Guardia seems like it'll be easier to get to Copiague on the LIRR, but I'd like a reality check to be sure!

Thanks!

I don't exactly know where Copiague is so I don't know how to get there specifically, but I know it's between LaGuardia and MacArthur, so it's probably the same in terms of distance. Although MacArthur is a tiny airport while there's tons of planes going between LaGuardia and wherever.

Hey GAF, it's more of a request than an actual question, but I'm looking for a GIF I saw here, but I can't find from what it is. It's a black guy in a food joint getting up, wiping his mouth and clapping as he looks to the street. Can you help find it ? Thanks.

Thanks! Southwest flies to both, but it turns out that the question is moot since I'm getting picked up now and don't need to take the train. Thanks though!

Ok GAF, tell me who this guy is:

I believe he is a television host from the 1970s. What's his name!?

Lots of free cookies and milk for the gaffer who gets it!

would it be possible for someone who can karate chop a pile of cement blocks (for example) to collapse a person's skull by karate chopping them on the head?

I can't find the "this is NeoGAF, dude" GIF anymore. Y'know, the one originating from that 1UP Show episode in 2006 when Luke was questioning people, camping out for the PS3 at launch, on their plans to sell them through eBay, and one guy just pops out of nowhere and says "this is America, dude", etc.

Anyone have it?

I believe that is Jack Paar. And based on the background, it looks like he's on Letterman's NBC show.

My friend is flying out of Nashville's main airport tomorrow. Is the airport still running fine, despite the flooding?

Sometimes I see electrical outlets with the little switches inbetween the sockets, usually in bathrooms.

I think they say "Reset" or something and they can be pushed in or out.

What do they do?

sweet jesus, why does Windows Media Center suck so bad? I want to add my tv shows to it but it keeps putting it into the movies section. is there a way i can get it into the recorded tv section? the episodes are in divx and i'm running windows7.

Hi dallow :D

In a similar vein to this I was doing some bathroom pondering myself ... I wonder why they have those red lights (heat lamps?) in bathrooms at beach hotels?

So I've heard about people in prison being released like 20 years later because new dna evidence comes out or something which proves them innocent. My question is, how the heck does this happen? 20 years later? how?
