Bi-lingualGAF, translate this for me:

"Chias a tu madre pendejete"

I was playing MAG (great game BTW), and our squad leader was being worthless so I kept messaging him to do something. Eventually he wrote this back.

Based off online translators. Something about your mom being stupid. Don't hurt me. D:

Fake edit: I don't know what Chias means.

Fuck your mother, asshole.

Does anyone have that picture of a stick figure staring angrily at his PC monitor? It's a meme and I don't even remember it but I need that picture for something.

Will buying a better, say more expensive, modem help reduce the frequency of having the modem either times out or restarts itself? Google seems to suggest that this happens when the modem gets overpinged

I have comcast. If so, any recommendation?

Winamp question: Before whenever I closed Winamp or changed the track and then if I reopened the file it was on previously it would resume from where I left it, only really useful for podcasts but anyway, since updating this feature is gone. Anyone know how to re-enable it ? Or what it's even called.

Couldn't find any option in preferences, but I found this plug-in which does what you're describing:

Is there any way to listen to live streams of American radio stations in the UK? I've tried proxies and stuff but they don't seem to work.

I've seen people write chias before, seemingly misspelling chicas and chinga? I don't understand it. I assume Mexico because pendejete.

Is there a website that lists what's currently available for streaming on Netflix? I don't currently subscribe, so you can only search for specific movies or shows instead of being able to browse the selection.

Haven't posted in here or answered any questions in a while, but where can I get computer help on GAF? Is there a thread for it?

I got a free laptop and 1TB external HDD from a coworker but the things are bogged down by all kinds of malware and viruses and shit. It won't connect to the internet, all the anti-virus programs on it are old and out-of-date and won't work, and the free Norton I got from work (whatever full version the military gets for free) won't boot off the cd. I pop in the cd-rw and nothing shows up after I open the D drive.

Don't really know what to do, but it would be nice to get these working. The HDD has a ton of movies he got off the morale drive while TDY to Djibouti.

Does it mean anything if I'm dreaming significantly less than I used to? A few weeks ago I wanted to try lucid dreaming so I started logging my dreams and realized a lot of nights were going by where I didn't dream (or remember them at least). I had fever recently and I always have a bunch of nightmares when I'm feverish but I didn't have a single one this time. I also don't wake up with morning wood anymore. I usually get at least 7 hours of sleep. I'm either woken up by an alarm for school, woken up to the sound of my mother emptying the dishwasher, or I wake up to pee then can't fall asleep. I'm constantly being woken up prematurely it seems.

If I understand your situation correctly, it sounds like the best solution is to back up any personal files on your external, then wipe the computer. Sounds so completely messed up that the only solution is to start all over.

Edit: Also, if you've never done this sort of thing before, google around a bunch so you know what to expect, and what to back up.

The external is completely fucked as well. I believe all of the malware on his laptop came from the external when he plugged it in and started using it. So outside of that fucked up external, I have no other storage. I am kinda dumb about that though. I've seen so many deals come along for TB HDDs and I've let them all pass me by. I've been saying since '07 that I need to get one and wipe my own laptop but I've never gotten around to it.

As long as you're not running (executing) anything from the external, it shouldn't infect anything.

What's the best way to convert .MKV to any burnable format without losing quality?

it depends on weather you want to keep x264 encoding, and, what do you mean when saying "burnable" .. ? you mean - playing it on a DVD ?

Yeah pretty much. I just it to retain the same quality.

Back up the stuff you need to the external. Unplug the external, then reformat the laptop.

Install antivirus (Don't use that Norton that you have. I suggest avast antivirus.) and everything and make sure the computer is secure before you even /think/ about plugging the external back in.

Also make sure you have Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware installed.

When you're secure and ready, plug the external back in and then run a full scan on it using Malwarebytes.

That should fix all your problems.

I haven't burned a cd-r in a LONG time, so I decided to add some songs onto a free program I downloaded called IMtoo or something like that. I added the songs I wanted, burned it, and so I wanted to make sure the songs are on the cd, because last time I tried burning songs onto a blank cd, nothing happened when I put it in my car.

Is there any way to play the blank cd on my computer to see if everything is good?

Just put it back into your CD drive and make sure the files still play?

You might need to check your car's manual and make sure there aren't any restrictions on the format or file structure.

Aw, that's a possibility. When I put the cd in and go to my computer, I see "DVD RW Drive (E), but when I click that open I see all these files and stuff and Norton 360 apps on it. I don't even have Norton anymore and the blank cd is BLANK. I took it out of the wrapper when I bought a shit load of them. :lol

first one - it is a lame attempt of british people to redefine social statuses of intellectuals. some of them were opposed to standard intellectual aknowledgements, like - harward degrees, and such shit. it proposed that intuition of a person is more important than the knowledge.

second - dollar is a value that is accepted as the world's value, when international money transfers and calculations are made. it is standardized, so there would be no calculation loss, and it is standard as in NYC, so as in Frankfurt (european trade center)

Aah now I'm relieved.

Now for a request: Can someone find me that image of the black guy looking at his computer screen and making a face that is a mixture of joy and disbelief at what he's looking at?

What's the movie coming out soon where the guy is in a car crash with his brother and his brother dies and only he can see him and everyone thinks he's crazy

Whats the deal with spam mail and penis enlargement?

What's the connection there, why is it so common?

70% of the world's internet is porn. pennis enlargement is a topic not so discussed, as supported by an individual mind. i mean - when you watch porn, surely, the main actor is not the one dude that you see in communal showers, he has a much larger "tool"

Right you are sir, thank you! Sad to say I really liked the trailer, but the film looks to be pretty terrible based on reviews.

Shame there's really not a lot on at the moment (not even that is out in the UK yet!)

I can't make threads yet, but I need opinions - HELP

Applied for a job I really want. They responded quickly, asked me a few follow-up questions over email, and seemed pleased with my responses. They said they were taking applications until early the next week, and would contact me after shortlisting candidates when there was more information. It's been just over two weeks now.

Do I email the HR person I was talking to? Ask about the status of the position? Or wait until they contact me like they said they would (despite the already-lengthy period)?

Email HR. Showing initiative is never bad, and an email is not in your face. maybe they forgot to contact you... happens in corps.

I believe you are always entitled to check back with them; just make sure you're polite. Honestly if you have a phone number I'd call them instead of emailing them, that way you can ask more questions if something comes to mind. Something that's harder to do over email. Unless they told you not to call or they didn't give you a phone number.

Either way, just following up isn't going to make them decide not to hire you.

In my experience it's a good thing to chase up after a week (unless they've given you an expected time) as you either get a conclusive answer of no, or indicate that you're keen for the job which can further a positive impression.

Of course only ring once, and only after an appropriate time period, as you don't want to be annoying.

Some businesses just don't bother contacting people to let them know the job has been filled unfortunately.

good luck :)
