The law says yes, but morally pretty much everyone on the internet says its ok. Cant you use the CD-Key and activate it on STEAM?

It's not the steam copy, so no. The retail Fallout 3 doesn't add in to Steam. Believe me, I tried. =(

If I own a game, and the disc cracks, and I download an ISO off of teh internets, is it technically piracy since I own the disc? My Fallout 3 disc has a crack in it. =(
Heh, pretty much the inverse of my problem yesterday. Wanted to play an older game, had the CD but long lost the case with the CD key.

If I'm cooking something that requires me to touch raw meat, I'll always make sure I wash my hands afterwards (of course) but my question is - should you use soap? I normally do, but whenever I watch cookery programs they almost always just give their hands a quick rinse and that's it.

of course you should use soap, running water over your hands doesn't do anything.

There is an admin that works here, that constantly does the following:

"Hey, I just sent you an email"

Wanders of to my desk and stands behind me. Waiting for me to look at it and address whatever issue right there.

WHY? He just sent me the damn email.

Next time I'm going to tell him to shut my door from the outside.

EDIT:

When he stands behind me, he leans over close to my ear with one hand on my desk and the other on the back of my chair.

I wish HR would let me punch him in the throat.

I guess that's the definition. I don't directly supervise him though. So I have no real say over him. He's in admin support.

Why do oldies stations play the same songs over and over again? I understand Top 40 gets incentives to play the same hits repeatedly, but oldies stations have millions of songs they could play. A station here just went "old school" with songs from the 80s and 90s, and my friends were happy cuz it's all songs we grew up with, but every time I turn it on, it's the same 20 songs on repeat. So I'm back to not listening to the radio at all.

It's the same with 80's stations. I mean, I love Duran Duran, but they sang more than Hungry Like the Wolf.

I have an American PSN account and I want to be able to watch netflix, but I'm not in America so I'm guessing I need to set up a proxy. Any suggestions on that? I've seen http proxies, but I'm guessing this is something different? Like, do I need to set up a vpn in a server in the states and then connect to the internet through that vpn or something? Have you guys tried this?

Also, I don't think this is illegal since I'll still be paying for netflix, but if it's something that I shouldn't be asking here, please let me know and I'll remove this.

I don't like closing my PC even tho its pretty fast on W7, so I just press Moon aka sleep, safe or not? Is the PC somehow Off?

Why not just stick with the current disc for the next month until the US app comes out? You'll get better content and access to physical discs with the US Netflix.

Edit: sorry, I was reading that as if you were in America but wanted access to the Canada app

Ya, I think 80's = oldies at this point. 90's is "retro" or "old school."

My question is more the economics of it. I know a lot of people just turn on the radio out of habit or for contests or whatever, but they always complain about the limited song rotation. Is it because the station is only licensed to play a short list of songs at any given time? Or that they don't have actual djs anymore, so it's delegated to someone who doesn't have the time to update the playlists?

I need a link to a YouTube video.

It was posted on NeoGaf not long ago, and it was about space expanding, very anti-God, pro-evolution. About an hour long, I watched and loved the whole thing. I think it was a college lecture, the guy has some books on Amazon but I don't remember his name. Basically, I should have bookmarked it.

Any help?

Thanks lagspike. Right after posting this I remembered the thread it was in.

Move along. :D

Any harm with installing RAM as follows:

I had 2 sticks of 1GB of RAM DDR2800, they are installed into 1 and 3 slots (for dual channel, colour coded).

Now I thought I had ordered 2 sticks of 1GB but I had ordered 1 stick of 2GB accidently. It's the exact same brand (Kingston Value-Ram as I went with Critical Ballista before and had horrible success). If I place that into the 2nd slot, now 1 set will be channel and the other won't be. Will this be a bad combination or does it really matter except for the little bit of performance difference by using channels?

AGH. It's still doing it!

I put in a blank CD-R into my PC and it reads as DVD RW Drive (E:) , but when the PC reads the blank cd, it says "CD-R" under the DVD RW Drive (E:) icon.

What gives? Do I have to change a format or something that makes it read CD-R, because I tried using an old CD-R and the icon changed to the Itunes logo.

Say I'm going to speedlimit towards a set of red traffic lights. I have absolutely no intention of stopping, but through a stroke of luck, just as I'm about to enter the intersection, the lights turn green.

Did I break the law?

I sold 2008 unibody macbook pro 15 inch without a battery for 900 dollars. Is that pretty good deal or was I being stupid? And the guy I was selling it to was nervous as fuck!
These moneyz better be real...

I cant imagine you did. Wouldn't that be a thought crime?

...

My head hurts.

What exactly are you trying to do?

Is the Fire Emblem series a strategy RPG or a tactical RPG? Is there even a difference between the two or are they the same sub-genre of rpg?

Instead of worrying about it, have you tried just burning with it?

So it's working?

Just burn whatever you need to burn.

I tried burning a few CD-Rs and when I put into my car's cd player, nothing happens. Just static, and I can't even change songs.

I did try burning the songs through itunes and it said there's no burning software located?

No, although there was intent to do so. Your main problem would have been negligence. If someone was entering the interction when the light turned red for them, they usually would have control of the lane and you would have been cited for some kind of inattentive/too fast for condition type fault. There would likely be at least partial liability although no ticket/jailtime.

Walk us step by step how you tried burning the failed CD-R's.

I insert a blank Maxwell CD-R disc.

I go to my itunes playlist.

I click "burn disc"

Window pops up and disc format is set to 'audio cd'. The other options are MP3 CD or data CD or DVD.

But the cd is ejected and itunes says 'this is not a blank cd'

WTF.

EDIT-Tried other burning programs and they don't even recognize the blank cd. Just spits it out.

Anybody make banner ads around here? I'm looking at advertising options for my fledgling game and am willing to pay standard professional rates.

I'd prefer to work with someone from GAF, since I think we should do what we can to help each other out. PM me with your rates and examples of work, or please send an email to contact@twooutrally.com

Also, let me know if there's a particular subset of gaffers that would be more appropriate to ask than this general helpdesk-type thread. I'm looking for artists and marketing professionals.

I am writing a paper on colonial settlers in North America who left their settlements to live with local Native American tribes. I am having a hell of a time finding good sources. Can anyone point out some books, articles, anything written on the subject, or even mentioning occurrences of it?

Roanoke?

WanderingWind said:

That's kind of just a hypothesis. It's unclear what happened to those settlers. I am more looking for the documented cases where people would leave a village only to be found later living with natives. There are multiple accounts, but I can't seem to find good sources.

Avatar?

anybody know the username of that gaffer that made a thread about commiting suicide? And actually saying he was going to do it and the thread got locked and all.

Guess what I'm trying to get at is has he been online at all? Or did he , god forbid, actually kill himself?

I believe Mayflower is what you're looking for. Great book and I highly recommend reading it even if you don't need it for your paper.
