Anyone know of a utility that can fix a messed up boot manager.

I have a dual boot machine with Windows 7 and Vista and somehow the manager got screwed up and doesn't know where to point anymore. Stuck in Limbo. It's telling me I'm missing files when that isn't true at all.

I need to fix it and using the windows utility discs is proving useless. There has to be another way.

suggestions?

more specific it says : can't load Winload.exe

Well I guess this is as good a place as any to ask my question. A friend of mine is a member on gaf and he had his username and password automatically saved on his phone when logging in. I guess gaf gad some kind of crash or something a few months back, according to him, and his phone lost the password and he doesn't remember it. He told me his username and email address and asked if I could help him get back on gaf. He also said he'd give me Little Big Planet 2 for free if I succeeded. So anyone have any advice how I can help him? Thanks.

If there was actually a way for you to help him, that would be a serious security issue. Hopefully even the admin(s?) can't even get the password for him, since it should be stored in an encrypted format. These situations are usually handled through some way of automatically getting the password sent to the e-mail address you used when registering (or resetting the password and sending a new temporary one to that address), but as far as I know NeoGAF doesn't have anything like that. Maybe the admins/mods have a way of resetting the password and e-mailing him a temporary one, I don't know.

He can do it himself: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/login.php?do=lostpw

And therein lies the problem. He's been a member for quite some time and his registered email account is no longer active and he doesn't have an address that would qualify based on gafs requirements. You thing a mod would be able to help him out?

I doubt a mod could help. An admin certainly has the power to help, but whether or not they have the willingness, IDK. I guess you'd have to PM one of them(?).

I see. I think they (all two of them) had it´s place here but I understand his point

Why do they tell you to use mouthwash after brushing, when it seems like using it before would be more practical?

Aren't you basically removing most of the toothpaste on your teeth when you use mouthwash?

Done. Hopefully it works out. Thanks for the tip.

I always go floss -> mouthwash -> toothpaste

This is at least how they teach kids to do it with the kind of mouthwash that shows your plaque. There are also mouthwashes that tell you to rinse with water after use.

I go Brush -> Floss -> Mouthwash.

In my mind, the toothbrush gets most of the crap off. The floss gets the crap out of the gaps that the brush can't reach. Then, the mouthwash gets the residual crap that comes out from between the teeth, but doesn't stick to the floss.

Dude you should totally floss first. It will change your world.

I figure the flossing dislodges stuff, you'll spit it all out with the mouthwash and loosen the plaque, and then you polish it all off with the brushing.

There doesn't seem to be a NeoGAF Books thread so I'll ask this here: What are some good fantasy novels that aren't epic, high fantasy sagas? I like fantasy but I feel like every book I read recycles the same medieval themes of knights and wizards and dragons and magic and wars and politics.

I'm looking for something imaginative but less typical.

Why does almost every woman want to have kids (kids or gtfo) since its so damn expensive and your lose the time you have to enjoy the thinks you like because you have to take care of yout kids?.

Makes sense.

I think your tooth brush actually has a good bit of bacteria and crap (literally crap) on it, though, so the mouthwash usually kills all of that.

Anyone know good places to look for apartments or houses for Rent in the Seattle area (specifically Edmonds/Lynwood and Shoreline?). Might be pushing this a bit by asking on here, but my lease is up soon and I'm getting a little desperate for housing. Trying to keep rent around $500 a month which is also making things difficult (poor student is poor).

Why is iTunes such shit?

I like to keep my songs ordered by album and by track number so that I can listen through an artist's work as it was meant to be heard. But iTunes can't keep this straight. I arrange by track number and it's still out of order, and it's like this when I sync to the iPod too. How can I fix this?

How in the hell did everyone in Field of Dreams that lived in the 1980s immediately recognize players that played in the 1910s? There weren't a lot of photos of these people, and the only way to watch a baseball game back then was live. Hell, Terrence Man was the oldest living person, and even he would have been a kid in the 30s and 40s.

Has really been the only nagging qualm I have with the movie.

I want to talk about an old game, but the OT thread is a year and 3 months old, is it okay if I bump it?
If you've got relevant info about the game, it's cool. Otherwise, I would suggest just making a "RTTP" thread about it.

I need some GAF magic.

I'm looking for a youtube video, it's fairly well-known, it's a fan made cartooned video of an actor, his sorta dancing along, I think strumming a guitar, I think at some point his got big star-shaped glasses on, and theres some sort of song playing along with the video.

Alright GAF, do your magic!

I was wondering, is Chess copyrighted or trademarked or whatever, or can anyone make a chessboard or PC game and sell it commercially?

The rules of Chess are pretty firmly in the public domain at this point.
