That would be my guess, too. I found some interesting, but very brief, history about this on Wikipedia. Still doesn't say why they are used, though.Professor Beef said:Maybe to capture your attention? That's my guess.

Thats the question from my text book and while I know what the function does, I'm not sure how to phrase the argument portion.

It's to keep the car in your mind. They really just want you to stop by and check it out. I don't know very many people that would actually switch but the commercials at least tickle your brain whereas before, Ford wouldn't stand a chance as people wanting Japanese cars would only compare across those types.Nard Bagman said:In Ford commercials where they give someone a new Ford with all the options to replace their old car for a day or week...why do they think it's a viable advertising method to pit a car a person bought (with whatever options the person could afford) against a brand new Ford with multiple thousands of dollars put into every option available? OF COURSE the person is going to say the Ford is better with power-assist parking and navigation and whatever else Mike Rowe is spewing out of his hat-wearing head. "Oh yeah, this Ford is way better than my Honda." No, its available options that you just got to try for a week are awesome. They say nothing about the quality of the car itself, just how cool the expensive options are.

Hmm, I'm not sure what you mean by that 100 thing. Maybe User CP > Edit Options > Thread Display Options > Number of Posts to Show Per Page > Show 100 Posts Per Page.UnluckyKate said:Thanks. I'll be looking for the 100 post per pages viewing thing.
The technology behind GameCube/Wii is much older, more time has been available to make emulation work, and it's more feasible for modern machinery to pull it off.TheBez said:Why is there no Dolphin equivalent for 360/PS3?
Yes, I would say so, however the difference is somewhat subtle. The content of the threads generally have no differences though.Murkas said:When someone makes a thread, is there a difference between THREAD TITLE-GAF and THREAD TITLE-Age?
That sounds pretty spot on to me.FromTheFuture said:Yes, I would say so, however the difference is somewhat subtle. The content of the threads generally have no differences though.
*-GAF calls upon the group of people who are related to the topic. For example, USA-GAF are members from the United States, Athiest-GAF are members who are atheists, and so on.
*-Age makes more sense in the context of an event and the thread calls upon all members. For example, USA-Age might be about someone travelling abroad to the United States, or Athest-Age might be someone who is considering Athiesm, and so on.
Or maybe I'm just reading into things too much!
Attaching a new 3.5mm plug is a pretty cake job, really. Only thing to watch out for is fine cabling (audio cables especially) frequently use enameled wire. Basically just means you need to hold the bare wire in a flame for a few seconds to burn off the enamel in order to get the solder to stick.scar tissue said:dear gaf
i've got these awesome earphones
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/310j7rcgNCL._SS500_.jpg
i got them as a gift, obviously the price is waaaaay too high
after many years of abuse, the cables seem to have been bent/broken slightly above the plug
2 possibilities:
- can if fix them or take them somewhere to get them fixed?
it should be as 'simple' as cutting off a cm and putting on a new plug, if such a thing is possible
- similar but cheaper headphones
my auditory canals seem to have weird shapes because conventional earphones fall out all the time
thus i need similar ones, with a closeable 'clamp' to hold it in place
i don't care that much for the supposedly superior sound by bang & olufsen (fuckin elitist snobs) as i use an iphone with supposedly inferior sound (never noticed any difference anywhere, tbh) but the design is fantastic, these are literally the only earphones i could ever wear without them falling out or chafing my ear or something
thanks for the advice, you can count on gaf day and nightMacGurcules said:Attaching a new 3.5mm plug is a pretty cake job, really. I guess I should ask: Have you ever used a soldering iron before?
This should give you the gist of it.scar tissue said:thanks for the advice, you can count on gaf day and night
yeah, i've used a soldering iron but not for stuff this small/sensitive
i guess i'll google "attaching 3.5mm plug" or something

Link Man said:A question for the Mods (or perhaps more of a suggestion):
When we have threads with [Updated] added to the title (for example, the Project Cafe thread over on the Gaming side), could you maybe add the date of the latest update as well? I know that the official policy is new news, new thread, but if you're going to make the effort to change the thread title, it couldn't hurt to add the date in there.
