You're not soldering on transistors or anything like that you simply plug in your Video Card, RAM, and Processor into their respective slots, plug the cords in for your hard drive and power supply, and screw the motherboard onto the case. Everything is color coded and you can't actually fit anything together the wrong way. Well, thanks. I will start looking into it. Also, as far as parts go I don't really know which brands and kinds of things to get. Like how much ram I should get. I know if I get a certain amount of ram you can only go so far with memory. Right?
 
I'm trying to think of a music video... I think it was a chemical brothers song though I'm not sure... and it has a russian dancing in it I think, or romanian perhaps, and a bear dancing at the end or something....

edit: now I'm thinking it might have been a basement jax video... :? maybe not... :(

I did some more testing of my speaker, and here are the results so far:

1) connected to headphone jack on laptop, powered by laptop USB = minor hiss, no buzz
2) connected to headphone jack on laptop, powered by nearby power strip = buzz
==different room==
3) connected to headphone jack on PC speaker, powered by PC USB = minor hiss, no buzz
4) connected to line-out jack on PC, powered by PC USB = minor hiss, no buzz
5) connected to line-out jack on PC, powered by nearby power strip = buzz
6) connected to headphone jack on TV, powered by PC USB = buzz
7) connected to headphone jack on TV, powered by nearby power strip = buzz

I could understand if it was just the power strip vs. USB, but the TV does it no matter what.
 
I stand for long periods of time at my work, and my feet are hurting by the end of my shift. Any recommendations for some comfortable shoes to get?

What kind of shoes do they need to be? I've had a pair of Rockports for years that I really like. Cushy sole and they weigh less than my Chuck Taylors.

Real talk, though? First thing I'd do is stop locking your knees, quit popping one hip out, and stand with your weight like 65% to the ball of your foot. Best thing you can do.

Is it the sort of workplace that allows casual footwear? If so, I highly recommend looking into lower end running/walking shoes. I recently got a pair Saucony Grid Cohesion TR4 shoes (for $40), and they were the difference between uncomfortable 50 yard walks and comfortable 3 mile runs. I imagine they might help with general foot comfort.

With some vendors, you can get a barebones system with the option of them assembling and testing it. That's the case, power supply, motherboard and cpu -- basically, the tougher parts are done for you. From there, you can buy memory, storage, software, etc and just plug them all in (or install them).

this thread is very active with knowledgeable posters, and the OP has upto date builds that you can order off newegg as parts and put together yourself. building a computer, once you have the parts in front of you, really isnt challenging, even your first time. iom sure someone in there will be able to recomend a youtube video or webpage guide. good luck.

The vendor websites will tell you the maximum amount of memory (and what type and speed) each of their motherboards can take. As for recommended specs.... anandtech.com and other websites periodically post a list of configurations for different use cases (power user, budget gamer, business user, ricer, and so on). There's a thread for that on GAF, too. Anybody got the link to that?

Dunno what you're talking about, apartments and condos are two different things.

edit: though wiki seems to imply differently. Apartments are in a high rise typically while condos are just like.. little houses, sometimes joined together. But with a condo you get a small yard and driveway and whatnot.

I'm sort of surprised, looking on Google about this. It seems what you're suggesting is true, but in my whole life condos have been totally different than apartments.

Double edit: Something like THIS, though that's actually a bit smaller than the one's I'm used to.

AFAIK, an apartment is something you rent, and a condo is something you buy, that often has associated condo fees

Digging a little deeper, it seems what I'm thinking of is more commonly referred to as a "maisonette" though I'll be damned if I've ever heard that term before. It's a condo! :3
 
I've heard both -- that condos are apartments that the resident owns, or that condos are kinda in between a town house and apartment, possibly a 2 story apartment. I have a 1 bedroom place in a building and I use both terms interchangeably, but usually people refer to it as an apartment, probably cuz it's pretty small. I'll say condo if I want someone to know I own it without coming right out and saying so.

The same loose terminology occurred in my college "apartment," which was more of a dorm, but I guess was technically an apartment, but exclusively rented to college students. The hallways smelled like barf and urine like a dorm though.
 
Can you control Youtube's player with a keyboard? Is there a button you can press, like spacebar or something, that will pause/play a video while watching it?
 
Man, I'm guessing no one's going to be able to answer this since I have to be so vague, but here goes-

There was a song from the mid-to-late 90's that I really remember enjoying. It was kind of a pop song, though a little more sombre than Britney Spears or anything.

It was sung by a man.

The music video was black and white and I think it featured people dressed up from like the 1920's (think Boardwalk Empire). The entire music video focuses on a girl, I think, and for whatever reason I seem to remember her getting pulled across the screen by a rope that may have been tied around her waist.

So, anyone know what the hell song I'm talking about?

MBTs all the way - I had massive foot pain due to having a collapsing arch in my left foot, and two days on MBTs cured all the burning in my feet. Best, most comfortable shoes ever.

That's how I've always heard it referred as. I own a condo and the layout is pretty much like any apartment I've seen locally or from friends. I lived in an apartment complex that's been bigger than my current condo space, but it was always referred to as apartments.

High rise condos in the metropolitan areas here in the Bay Area are always referred to as condos regardless of size, lack of garages, and with a very low rate of owners renting out their place. Then i'll read, hear, or see something on HGTV about apartments for sale in New York. Or how celebrities made an expensive purchase on an apartment.

I'm pretty sure no. I remember hearing, either for the film or the book itself, that there were concerns over the recipes so Chuck had to fake all of them. Not sure if it applied to both or just the film.

The term maisonette is used commonly here in the UK, I believe it generally means a flat (apartment) which is split over several floors. Heard of condo before but never actually bothered to see what it is, we never use that word over here.

I am almost certain it does. I always try to keep it upper 70s whenever I drive, and blast the fan if the heat is unbearable.

Just a guess here, but I think that's because those are typically apartments that were converted from being rented to being owned.

There was a mythbusters episode regarding this. If i'm not mistaken it really didn't matter.
They tested whether it was more fuel efficient to drive with windows down, AC off, rather than windows up and AC all cranked up.

Either way, if there was a difference (IIRC there wasn't), it was negligible at best.

Someone told me (When gas was at a ridiculously high price of 2.00/gallon) that having the windows down burned more fuel which is why I always use AC now. It feels better anyway.
 
The A/C thing depends on the car I think. Single belt systems won't see much of a difference.

Most cars today are single belt though.

There might not be a big difference between windows down and AC, but both use a lot more gas than windows up and no AC.

I've gone to festivals "alone", meaning i've met up with far off acquaintances, that i usually only meet on festivals anyhow.
One year i was totally set on going to all of the concerts by my own, but that got kind of ruined.

Unless you have easy making friends with the camping next door (assuming it's a festival where there's camping) i'd be hesitant.
Then again, i usually only go to festivals because of the music, and rarely hang out at the camping.

What festival are you considering if i may ask?

They usually have a control test (which would be windows up, ac off in this case) and i can't seem to recall there being that big of a difference.
But sure, every little thing helps. I don't drive so i wouldn't know really.

Its Get Loaded Festival which is in London. I live in London so there is no camping involved. The reason I ask is that, I sort of want to mae friends but suck at socialising in a sense of getting along easily towards a group of people. There are some bands I like which I am intrested but I heard going alone, unless you are sort of person who can talk to anyone, sucks.

How easy is to make acquanted with people at festivals?
