I recently got rid of the old CRT TV in my bedroom and now I don't have a TV in my room. It was really cozy with the TV and I miss it :(

I have a desktop and a netbook in my room. Is there anything I can do to turn one of them into a TV? I've got a cable box but I don't think my computers support the connections. I have netflix/hulu but I'm looking for something streaming that plays random episodes, like a real cable-connected TV

I'm wanting to apply to become a RCMP member soon and (if I make it that far) will have to fill out an application. One of the questions is:

Have you ever been involved in a physical altercation of any kind? Yes No
If Yes explain (location and circumstances):

So I should include the one physical altercation I had when I was a teenager or does the RCMP only want to know if I had any when I'm an adult (I'm 18 atm)?

Research a good TV tuner card for the desktop.

I've got a question that's bothering me for some time.
In a lot of movies and series (such as 24) someone tries to let someone pass out by putting their hand on their mouth so they can't breath.
So I was wondering, is this really possible (very dangerous?) and if so how is this technique called?
Thanks

Isn't that just asphyxiation? When your body can't get enough oxygen you lose consciousness. Oxygen deficiency may cause injury to the brain, so don't try it yourself.

Yeah, it's one of those things that works a lot better and without side effects in TV land. See also: safely knocking someone out for a few minutes by whacking them on the head with something heavy.

Cheers dude, and no, I was not planning to try it myself haha.

Haha yeah I see it a lot in television and I know it will damage your brains (or atleast, there is a big chance). Lost was all about knocking out eachother. :D

Whats the cheapest it would cost to ship a video game/DVD sized item in the mail? To another continental US address and to a European address.

$1.88 to the US if it's very light (4 oz). Generally $1.88 to $2.56.

Anywhere from $4.33 to $7.81 to Europe for that weight range.

Rates here if you know the exact weight:

https://www.usps.com/send/first-class.htm

https://www.usps.com/ship/first-class-international.htm

A little cheaper if you put it in a bubble envelope and it isn't so thick to be considered a package (>3/4 inch).

Does anybody recognize either of these two fonts:

http://www.dafont.com/stereofunk.font?fpp=50
http://www.dafont.com/rezland.font?fpp=50

I'm doing a job for somebody and they want this style of font (near as as I can suss out, at least!). I don't really have anything quite like it, save maybe Bauhaus, in my collection. On the other hand, these stupid free font sites are notorious for making dummy versions of otherwise famous fonts/logos.

So... does either of these fonts come from, say, a particular brand or product and I'm just not realizing it? I would really hate for that to happen.

Alternately, if anybody has any other suggestions, I'm open to them!

If I can only get one Karl Pilkington book which one should it be?

Ricky Gervais Presents: The World of Karl Pilkington
Karlology
The World of Karl Pilkington
Happyslapped by a Jellyfish
An Idiot Abroad: The Travel Diaries of Karl Pilkington

I'm leaning towards Ricky Gervais Presents and The Travel Diaries just because they're easier to get but I'm open to all of them.

rezland looks familiar but I can't tell where I've seen it before. :/

You could try this website:

http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/

It's supposed to do some recognition, but it can pull up similar legit ones as well.

Which is grammatically correct:

1. All but one of the subjects were told to pick the wrong answer.

OR

2. All but one of the subjects was told to pick the wrong answer.

Word tells me that #2 is correct, but I can't fathom why, be it my horrible command of the English language or the fact that it's 2:30 AM.

I think this question was asked not too long ago and the answer went something like this:

1. All but one of the subjects were told to pick the wrong answer.
2. All but one of the subjects was told to pick the wrong answer.

Which one sounds and looks correct now?

Ok, #1. I knew hoped I was right. Gracias.

So I just got a Droid X2 and I'm pretty much technologically dumb. My school has their email through Outlook Express Web Access and I can't figure out how to manually sync my phone with my email. When I put in my email and password to sync, it says it must be inputted manually.

It then gives me four options: my general settings, incoming server, outgoing server, and other settings. General settings is just my email, account name, and real name. Incoming, it asks if I have a POP mail server or a IMAP mail server (?). Then it wants to know my server (I think I have this correct), my username (email address?) and password. Outgoing server wants me SMTP server (???), username (email address again?) and password.

When I attempt to connect, it says there is an error and that it can't connect to what I put in as my SMTP server. Anyone know what kind of thing should be there? I tried googling it but ended up with a lot of people asking the same question, and then no response.

Talk to your campus IT, they will know how to set it up in a few seconds.

Is Hollywood really going to remake Death Note?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1241317/
As far as I know it's going to be a film version, not a TV series remake. Right now Shane Black is attached to direct, he's directed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and will be writing/directing Iron Man 3. I would've liked someone else to direct but I'm not that opposed to it, I'm willing to give him a chance. The script is what matters for obvious reasons, there's no way they can crunch so much stuff into 1 movie without taking out important bits.

I'm pessimistic about it being good overall but eh, it's gonna happen because Hollywood sucks. I'd honestly prefer it get it's own live action TV show in the states and remake that instead since at least then you can do it properly like how it was in the manga, and seeing the anime converted to live action would be pretty cool if done properly.

This might be obvious and I feel kind of stupid but... If I were to download a 150mb video with a 14gb per week download limit, would that take 150mb out of my limit, i.e I'd have 13.85gb left? There I said it; it's just I remember being confused in the past when streaming videos took comparatively nothing out of my data transfer limit!

Oh God.

Yes, but if you were torrenting, you have to account for the amount that your bittorrent uploaded as well. Usually its anywhere from 50-150% of the original file size, depending on the type of connection you have and the people connected to you. The client will tell you how much you have uploaded.

Is there a way to view my posts in one place? There was one topic I posted in, didn't subscribe to, but can't remember the name of. You'd think I should know this, but... =\

I'm in the UK and want to order something from amazon US. The price is 299$ which at this very moment works out at £183. Will amazon charge me £183 or what will they most likely charge?

Not a hugely important question, but I traded in some stuff with Amazon

It went from Alabama to Tennessee to Virginia to Maryland to New Jersey

Where the hell is this thing going?!

How tall do you have to be to shop at a big and tall store?
I'm 6'4" and tried to shop a big & tall store. I was surprised to find out most everything there was more for the big. I'm not "big" so I walked out with nothing, never to return again.

How does the government differentiate between price fixing/collusion and every company charging a similar price because "that's how much things cost"?

Exactly what you said: collusion. It can only be conspiracy if there's an agreement.
