For you Organic Chemistry Gods out there: Is doing the reaction 1. NaNH2/NH3 2. H3O to turn an alkene into an alkyne the same as simply doing KOH/Acetone? My text book seems to use both synonymously and it's pissing me off why they would choose one over the other.

The Norton problem could be causing the update problem, but that's just a shot in the dark.
I would try Symantec's own "Norton removal tool" (Google it; you can get it from Symantec themselves or from a software download site) or Revo Uninstaller to get rid of Norton.
You can also try booting into safe mode (reboot > press F8 before the Windows logo > select safe mode) and try to update/uninstall from there.

EV = 16 * (226/372)^2 + (-11) * [ 1 - (226/372)^2]
EV = 16 * (51076/138384) - 11 + 11 * (51076/138384)
EV = 817216/138384 - 11 + 561836/138384
EV = 1379052/138384 - 11
EV =~ 9.965 - 11
EV =~ -1.035

Tntnnbltn might have the right answer and I screwed up somewhere on these heathen numbers. Real math doesn't use numbers.

So mosquitoes tends to bite me more often than my friends standing next to me. Are mosquitoes attracted to a certain blood-type more than others? Why won't they share the love and bite others instead of me?!

Same happens with me, i get devoured by them and the rest of my family doesn't even get bitten, what blood type are you? i'm blood type "O"

So I bought the Fast Five bluray on amazon, but I didn't realize it was the DVD package version (I didn't even realize they made blurays in dvd packaging :| ) I should have just sent it back and got the bluray packaging, but I didn't (I watched it right away) and now I want the bluray packaging. I have a spare bluray case I can use and I tried googling to find a scan of the cover so I can print it out and put it in the case. All I could find were shady forums that required me to sign up to view a printable size pic. Where do I go to get a printable size pic or does anybody have one they could link to me? Thanks.

It really depends on the specifics of the situation. For instance, not breathing does not equal dead. If a person is in respiratory arrest, but has a heartbeat, they will usually be placed on a ventilator and closely monitored for changes to their condition while other interventions are taking place.

In the cases of cardiac arrests due to medical conditions, it depends on the age of the person and their general state of health, and how long they've been down. It's up to the doctors to decide if further attempts at resuscitation are necessary. A young person who has been in cardiac arrest for a short amount of time is usually going to receive more time than an elderly person who was knocking on death's door to begin with. I've brought patients to the hospital and have had them declared dead the second we took them off of our cot, and I've also seen them attempt to resuscitate patients for half an hour. The thing is, after a while if you can't make the heart beat, you just can't make it beat, and sometimes they're forced to call it quits.

As to what happens after the person has been officially declared dead, it also depends. They don't tend to put a sheet over people as you see in movies. If a family has arrived at the hospital, they'll often clean up the patient's room to get rid of tubes, and canisters full of suctioned vomit, and any other unpleasant thing they can do to make the family more comfortable, and then allow the family into the room to say their goodbyes. After that I've seen bodies sheeted until the medical examiner arrives to prepare the body to go to a funeral home or to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

But, yeah, there's not a whole lot of consistency in terms of exactly how long any one person is going to be down before declared dead or with what is done to dress or cover the body after death. I'm speaking only to our two local hospitals, of course.

Hey I can't help that I think about things in practical ways. He either makes 2 and you get $16, or he makes 0 or 1 out of 2 and you lose $11, it's more likey that he'll do the later, therefore the expected value is -$11 (for you).

Ah, nope. Believe me, you'd sound worse pretending that anything medical goes by an exact rubric, I think. There are rules, but those rules make for boring reading. Unless you're going for incredibly medically accurate, I'd go by Less is More.
 
Is there a way to be ripped off by buying MSPoints in a private transaction through the forums (CheapAss Gamer)? Like something other than just not sending them or sending a bum code. Can I compromise my account in some way, or get banned or such?

He's going to email me the code for the 4000 points after I PayPal him. He has some good feedback but I'm just wondering,
 
How do you guys brush off things that piss you off.

Like if something happens and it ruins you day, how do you guys try to not let it bother you? What do you do to keep your mind off things.

Fap, go for a walk, scream into a pillow, play some vidya games, talk with some friends. Those are the options I always sift through if my day ever turns to shit.

I typically just move on. Most part talking to the best companion I ever had for 6 years, my wife. When I was younger that stuff would really bug me out all day, but as I got older I kinda learned or accepted facts and found my zen.
 
How would 1080 resolution 16:9 ratio (looking to use PS3 on-->) look on a 24" dell monitor that is 1920x1200 native resolution which is 16:10 ratio?

What's the model? A lot of the 1900x1200 panels will correctly scale a 1080p signal so you'd get bars on the top and bottom.

I can't really remember its a dell 24", it has 2 DIV, 1 HDMI, 1 Display Port, USB hub, 3.5mm Audio In port and a Audio out port, some component ports too, 1 VGA maybe.

I don't have it near me, my current TV broke and was wondering if it would be a good effort to drive pick it up and buy a 2.1 computer speaker system.
 
Should I be having HDMI handshake issues these days? Could not find much googlizing my hardware... I'm running a Denon 1909 AVR connected via HDMI to an ATI 4850 w/Win7 64 bit. It's only audio that I'm having problems with, and it only seems to drop when switching between sources such as HTPC > OTA cable or resuming from sleep. I have to turn the AVR on/off in order to fix it. Is this a driver issue or something else?
 
What do people mean when say things like "Facebook is worth 10 billion dollars"? Its not like they get revenue from users so obviously its from advertisers, right? How the hell do you get 10 billion from that?

It depends, there are a few different methods of valuation. One method is to calculate the present value of future revenues. One is to find comparable companies and look at how they've been valued by the market, and go from there. One is to look at what assets the company holds, and calculate the cost of obtaining similar assets.

I'm honestly not sure if any of these traditional methods were used to get that $10 B number. That might just be based on what MS paid for shares of the company.

Apart from ad revenue, they do get revenue from their users through purchases made in FB apps, and through FB credits. That's a lot of money being made right there. Zynga and shit. Birthday gifts. The app landscape on FB is potentially very lucrative, and FB takes a chunk out of every transaction. So take a look at Zynga's revenue — that's 70% of what users paid, 30% goes to FB.
I don't think FB's numbers are open, so which part makes up the biggest chunk is unknown. It might very well be advertising though. Remember, it's something like 400 million people you can advertise to through that platform every single day. The rest is a result of the laws of big numbers, meaning that number of people responding to advertising might be in the millions every day. That means that millions of people generate revenue because they're on Facebook. What that results in when you calculate the worth of FB — I dunno.
 
How the hell do you post youtube videos on Facebook with the preview and description? I used to just paste the link in the status update box but now it just posts the link.
