Reboot it completely. No Arnold. Come up with some clever new twist, don't just remake the first. Take advantage of how iconic the Terminator is as a symbol of our fears of A.I. and tell a more modern story that addresses current concerns in A.I. safety. Shoot it mostly at night and get some blue gels for the spotlights.Bring back synthwave soundtrack. Keep the endoskeleton design close to the original. Has to be R-rated.

Another small scale film sounds like people just want to remake T1. They've been trying to remake T2 for years and failing to nobody's surprise. Remaking T1 might pan out better, but still reeks to me of been-there, done that.

Whenever the future war is brought up, you get people naturally assuming it has to be this large-scale, all out Future version of Saving Private Ryan's beach landing scene with lasers, stretched over two hours.

I'd much prefer a future war film that plays as a dark horrific, men on a mission film ala everything that happens after SPR's beach landing. Ever since that scene with Reese in the parking garage in T1, the universe has painted the future with allegories from the Holocaust. I want to see a men on a mission/12 Little Indians-type film in that hopeless landscape.

I'm optimistic that a good Terminator film is still possible. Might be worth it to try a return to a lower budget slasher film like Terminator 1. Make it a bottle film following the template of 10 Cloverfield Lane, or something like that. Small scale, dark, scary, and thrilling, with good actors that can pull off emotional, tense, and horror scenes.

I just think it would be easier to succeed with a smaller film that has a clever viral marketing campaign that chases Terminator 1 rather than trying to outdo the popcorn smash of Terminator 2 like they've failed to do for damn near 20 years. You aren't going to create a better T1000, or a better highway chase scene, or a better plot of timeline fuckery, so just stop. Stop with the Kyle Reese, John Connor, Sarah Connor spinoffs, settle in the universe and tell a small story of the survivors of Judgement Day.

Neece knows what's up

Yes, yes he does

Unless they do something crazy like make it a secret sequel/prequel to another franchise entirely, this should not come to pass.

And I like Salvation more the most people.

But we just want to see more callbacks and hilarious quotes in different contexts

1. Don't call it Terminator 6.
2. Ignore everything after T2.
3. Give us the future war movie we've wanted for 25 years.

Then end the franchise. That's it.

Basically. I don't care who the director is, if I need to watch Genesys to watch this one, I'm just not going to watch it.

Make it about a time Traveller trying to save the franchise after T2 and trying to sabotage the sequels that were made.

Do not make it about the future war. The first two Terminator films tell you basically nothing about the war aside from the fact that it's a post-apocalyptic war against killer robots. Because really, Terminator 1 and 2 were ultimately about an unstoppable assassin trying to kill someone in modern-day America. What's cool and iconic about those films has nothing to do with the war. The war itself was never important, and trying to make a movie based on it completely misunderstands what the first two films did and what made them work so well.

If you absolutely must make another film, than go back to the basics of Terminator 1 and understand what made it work. Make it low budget and give it a horror feel. That's the only argument I can see for a new film.

Basically, if any Terminator film features a Terminator grabbing and throwing their target in a non-lethal way, the film has already failed.

He wasn't alone.

I like the line in the commentary for T2 from Cameron about the rental company concerned about the GE-mini gun. After it was empty Arny just drops it on the ground.
Cameron - "Hes a terminator, he doesn't care about it once its empty"

didnt they sort of try this with salvation? and it was complete shit

Terminators are fucking stupid.

Why kill a dozen of humans / cops to steal clothes / weapons / ammunition / vehicles before finding and eliminating the target?

When they could simply arrive naked, steal some clothes without attracting attention, then track the target, follow it unsuspiciously and kill it by snapping its neck when they are alone with the target.

No. They didn't try that. Instead you had another film from the T3 writers where Helena Bonham Carter is Skynet and Terminators act dumb. Movie wasn't a horror movie either. It was just another dumb action movie.

Does anyone actually give a shit what Cameron has to say or think about this franchise anymore? He has shilled for every one of the last *three* movies as being the REAL Terminator sequel, that it's going to be so good and give the fans what they always wanted, you're gonna love it, etc.

Fool me once, ok, but fool me four times, why am I buying a ticket?

A first official promo shot has been released:

I don't like it.. It reminds me of thos terrible Genisys promo shots. I was hoping for something darker and more gritty.
I want a true sequel to T1/T2, don't leave me hanging Tim Miller...

I still can't believe how young he looks to me in this now, compared to when it first released.

And remember when people actually thought Arnold was looking old at that time? If they only knew....

So many sequels since T2 and they're all bad, the only one worth a darn at all is T3 which is just a lame rehash of T2's story but is at least fairly entertaining, but Salvation was garbage and I didn't bother with Genisys at all.

The only thing giving me any hope at all is Tim Miller, I want to believe he can actually make something good, but this franchise seems just downright tired, even more so than other franchises that refuse to die, remember, Cameron originally intended it to end with 2.

A few factors gave me hope here.
First thing was that cameron got the movie rights back.
Then the involvement of tim miller who did a great job with deadpool and seems hungry to prove homself as a director.
And of course all the talk with cameron about a true sequel to T2 and them disregarding all the other sequels.

Well I will still keep my hope up but this promoshot isn't exactly promising.

Curious to see how they'll market this movie: "Here's T6, which as the number implies comes after T5, but is a direct sequel for T2"...

Hope it will be man vs machine(s) like T1 again, machine vs machine has been done to death.

There is a rumor that they are going to cgi young furlong for some 90s scenes. Also Arnold will be playing the human that the t800 is based on.

It sucks that they were not willing to get furlong for this. Supposedly because of his ongoing drug habit.
I would have liked to see him getting in shape for this like Hamilton did.

Hmmm....after the last two films I’m ready to be disappointed.
The first two were classics and the 3rd a fun but forgettable movie but the last two were just meh.
We’ll see if it lives up to the franchise.

Linda Hamilton has turned into Andy Warhol

Is the person in the middle a man or a woman? Looks like a Final Fantasy protagonist

There is nothing more to do or explore in the Terminator world. You can't recapture the magic of Terminator 2
