Let's talk about the best fucking thing of this manga by far, the character designs

What a badass mofo, my favorite.

r/bleach is hilarious

Front page one of the topics is "Despite its flaws, Bleach makes me more hyped than any manga ever"
It is like getting excited to see how someone handles a particularly crazy dare I suppose. Like telling Robert Jordan that Wheel of Time went long enough, you're going to get really sick so you HAVE to finish it in a 300 page book. When he had like 5 or 6 books left.

I am Korean.
If Kubo ends it with Ichigo & company LOSING, omg, that would be the GREATEST. Its honestly the only way I can think of where Bleach goes out on a note of significance of some form.

Yeah...That worked out great for Shaman King.

He'd still be like "Screw off. I gotta write more about this Bowl of the Winds!"

I was about to ask what the heck happened with Lille since I don't remember him dying but then I remembered Yhwach probably just absorbed him, lmao.

Haha, is that how it ended? Man, I should get back into Shaman King, that was one of my favorite mangas but dropped it around the time I stopped buying those monthly Shonen Jump volume things.

I'm still inlove with this picture, goddamn, just look at that artstyle! So good.

Did the manga get shittty later on or did it stay just as amazing as when it first started?

The follow-up to Shaman King ended up on a worse cliffhanger.

I wonder if Kubo can pull off a Shakugan no Shana ending with one chapter left.(he can't)

The main villain wins in the end but it turns out it's a good thing and he makes things better for everyone

Aizen winning would certainly be better for everyone.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
T-minus 2-3 days until the final chapter. I've got my bunker ready for the fan fallout.

Are there really any Bleach fans left? The only fans I could imagine to go rampant are the Aizen fans (like me) if he doesn't get a proper send-off. He's the only reason most of the remaining readers still care for the shitshow that Bleach has become.

You are right, Bleach really excels in character designs:

I miss Rukia's hilarious drawings. Too bad we couldn't get one more mini arc were Ichigo was just a Substitute Shinigami again.

Random thought: I wonder if Kubo will eventually return to his previous manga 'Zombie Powder'. Was killed too soon imo.

Yes. Bleach was a lot of people's formative manga. It informs what they think Shonen is and should be. There is a reason it is consistently at the top of manga aggregate sites as a most-popular despite 1) free-falling in Japan and 2) sucking shit.

We all have our favorites. And I bet you that our favorites all went to hell at some point and either recovered or we ignored it. Bleach is just an extreme example of a manga going to hell and the people that stuck with it are the most die-hard.

Speaking of which, if Grimmjow survives I believe he will be the only arrancar alive along with Halibel and Nel. He will be fine.

I keep forgetting who's dead dead in Bleach or just presumed dead. My memory is a bit hazy but Kubo did a lot of fake deaths, drawn-out deaths or seemingly dead people who came back alive later that I don't actually know who actually died.

If you get backstory you never die. That's pretty much rule of thumb.

YUP, early Bleach did a fantastic job on creating characters you cared about. There was some character main or not where you marked like crazy for. (Mine was Urahara and his crew which was why I loved the Aizen/Urahara/Vizard flashback) Even as the plot went to shit people still stayed on to find out more about the characters they love. Which is also what pisses people off because there's no closure to a majority of the characters,

Taking 2 minutes to read a chapter made it easy to follow too. Kubo should just make a character book detailing an back story and epilogue of each character and their skills and strengths.

I think I tuned out sometime after Hueco Mundo or something. I don't remember most of it. Every now and then, I glanced at the latest chapter... It's just people fighting and talking against empty backgrounds, explaining their nonsensical powers. It's really jarring to look at the first few chapters, that was some good shit.

Like, the final bad guy's power is to "change the future"? What the fuck? Why doesn't he just instantly kill everyone, then... Eh, it's probably been explained. That's just what I gathered from glancing at the latest chapters.

Beyond Aizen's illusions somehow being able to trick this ability and Ichigo just somehow being resistant to it, this hasn't been explained at all.

That's what happens when you go overboard with a power before thinking it through. You end up having to come up with bs excuses and ass pulls so that the bad guy doesn't end up wiping everyone and end the series the next page.

"I need to raise the stakes, but I made Aizen too powerful so I need to make the final guy even more powerful. No it doesn't make sense but I'M MAKING MON- what do you mean I'm cancelled?!"

So, has the ending leaked? I stopped reading/watching Bleach after Ichigo beat Butterfree Aizen but after reading this thread I am not sure if I want to know how it ends.

I can totally see this ending is going to be worse than the original ending of Shaman King.

Oh man, what a shitshow. Will always love Bleach. Kubo just ran out of walls to write himself into and eventually just started going nuts.

Only 15 pages and somehow this entire story is supposed to wrap up?

RIP.

I can't believe Nisekoi is going out on a higher note than Bleach, and I say that as someone who actually enjoys the former.

How the mighty have fallen.

Shaman King got canned right at the climax, but Takei got the chance to properly end it when the Kanzenban volumes came out.

It's one of my favorite WSJ manga. It does end
on a loss
, but in a GOOD way. Legitimately got shivers. Definitely check it out.

Don't!

It gets muuuuch shitier than Bleach ever did. It made me stop reading, since it was so absolutely bad.

The ending is one of the worst ever.

The final chapter will be 15 pages of blank spaces and gazes between some unknown chars. And then Ichigo will say whatever and END.

Over fifty characters got involved in the final confrontation with Aizen. Some of these characters were just now appearing for the first time, simply written in to provide the tenth- through fifteenth-most important Soul Reapers with individual opponents. Kubo's efforts to make the battle a grand spectacle backfired by favoring quantity over quality.

Not much more needs to be said, honestly. By inflating the count of total fights that needed to resolve before the Big Bad met the Big Hero, the stakes were watered down and it was hard to care anymore about the intervening chapters. Bleach became a treadmill of unimportant fights between unimportant characters punctuated every 3 years by a predictable title fight of powerup/counter-powerup.

Probably should've weeded out a lot of the extra Sternritter and boiled it down to the Elite Four and perhaps use Gerald as a bankai sponge to show off these unrevealed bankai and actually kill him. It probably wouldn't be unreasonable to just make him collapse on himself from growing too much, he basically did that with fucking Gremmy.

And spend more time developing the backstory instead. It's more interesting to find out how the Quincies got to this point than to watch Pepe and other losers.

Actually, it was Aizen who saved her by cutting her down during the Fake Town battle, allowing her to survive instead of being killed by the other shinigami.

Since when were you under the impression Aizen wasn't always a good guy?
Since he blew up Tousen upon him starting to turn back.

Or was that soul suicide?

It's tempting to reach out to the team of 538 to see if they can do an analysis of the concentration of 1v1s per arc for a selection of Shonen Manga over the decades, so we can confirm the idea that Kubo simply doesn't know how to keep a lid on it. Hajime no Ippo follows a realistic undercard > title card fight tempo. Kenshin maxed out at, what, 12? What was Oda's record of underlings in a single arc? It's hard to think back all the way to Alabasta and get an accurate count, but I'm pretty confident it's Baroque Works and we didn't have to see them all fight to watch Crocodile go down. Kubo wanted to ram twenty-six individual bad guys + the Final Boss before we could get any sense of closure on his series.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
Man, I was planning on picking the manga back up aftEr all these years, but it seems it's just not worth it

Is it Wednesday or Thursday the chapters normally drop?

It's a double issue this week(meaning that it counts for two weeks, not that the magazine itself is any longer) and sooooometimes those hit early. Be on the lookout Wednesday but expect it Thursday morning
