I'd just like to remind people that we're never going to actually find out what the fuck the Soul King is/was.
Why does Yhwach call him "Father?" Why does Yhwach call Ichigo his "son?"

Tune in next time, on Bleac- [CANCELLED.]

Yhawch calls him his son simply because of Ichigo's Quincy heritage. That's all there really is to it.

Could be quickly revealed in the last chapter, or detailed in a data book.

I guess he would be the true father of the Quincies with Yhwach as his only son, and that his ability is full control of souls and their flow. And so allowed himself to be sealed in ember or whatever to maintain control for forever.

I still laugh whenever I think how much shit went down in about a 30 hour period between Orohime disappearing and Aizen getting whooped by Itsygo. That's like...70 percent of Bleach.

I'm more excited for this ending than I was for Naruto's, I can't wait to see how big of a trainwreck this will be.

Though the shipping meltdowns that followed Naruto can't be beat, good times.

r/bleach is hilarious

Front page one of the topics is "Despite its flaws, Bleach makes me more hyped than any manga ever"

There were a couple of very hard line bleach fans here up to a few years/months ago. Always shocking when a non joke poster actually thinks Bleach is any good anymore, let alone better than some of its peers.

I haven't thought Bleach was "good" since about halfway through Fake Karakura Town, but damn if I haven't been checking the internet every Wednesday/Thursday for years now.

It's basically been Stockholm Syndrome and a morbid curiosity to see some of the series' bigger questions and mysteries answered.

I guess now we know that 85% of them never will be.

I still love Bleach despite all its blatant flaws. I roll my eyes at time and get frustrated when nothing happens chapter after chapter, but I still love the characters and the aesthetic.

This was pretty much the reason. Also, Bleach was the first Shonen anime I really got into- it did have a lot of impact on me growing up, and I want to see it through. I feel like it was one of the first for many, so they probably have a similar reason for wanting to see it through. A part of me wants to believe it was good at some point, I did enjoy the early stuff when it felt like a superhero story combined with a high school drama/comedy-reminded of of Spider Man. Soul Society was also good I'd like to think.

I swear they were fighting Szayel for like a year at one point. It's insane how long the beginning of the Arrancar arc until the end of Deicide was in real time since it's basically one giant arc.

Out of curiosity, I decided to see how many chapters (roughly) from the introduction of the arrancars to Deicide. 184 is when Shinji first appears, and Deicide 1 is chapter 399.

So, 215 chapters between the two. Bit more than 4 years' worth, roughly.

Gah.

And speaking of Szayel, the fight with him begins in 264 and ends 306. 42 chapters (though not all directly on it, of course).

Kubo Tite is probably the Zack Snyder of mangas. I've never seen such a steep decline in a series. Not to mention, how much wasted panels on empty backgrounds and space. Compare that to One Piece, or even Naruto, where they fill in panels with detail. In comparison, it comes off as if Kubo is lazy.

What characters tho

They're all cardboard cutouts

Aizen
,
Aizen_
, and
__Aizen____
.

Also Urahara, Isshin, and Shunsui. I liked a lot more characters' designs but they didn't really get as much development as those guys (relatively).

I would have liked Rukia if her character development weren't so tied into her relationship with Ichigo.

Pretty much. One Piece's art is overflowing with content and detail backgrounds.
Heck compare how this final arc of Bleach has gone on for over four years, versus One Piece's Dressrosa arc that only went on for two... The latter had quite a bit more content in it in half the time (including Oda taking several breaks during).

I wish I had a time machine to go back in time and tell myself not to waste my time reading this since nothing will pay off.

If I was a bleach villain I would have one.

What I'm really hoping for is Quincy guy being defeated, Ichigo turning around going "thanks, Aizen" He goes "no problem," Points his sword up "Bankai" Picture of Kubo "Thanks for reading and all your support!"

smurfx

get some go again
i want the ending to be aizen focused. maybe have aizen reveal his bankai can rewind reality and he rewinds time to chapter 1 of bleach. says he will win when he and ichigo fight again in the future with his troll smirk as the final page.

It used to be so, so good.

Hard to believe any time you read a recent chapter. Or even a not-recent chapter. But once you go far enough back, it's like "whoa, who's the guy who wrote this and what happened to him?"

Kubo really needed a editor to repeatedly sit him down and say, "no. Go on hiatus until you can plot out something that isn't hot garbage".

Original cast (human world + SS) is freaking stellar.

I feel bad for Isshin. He hasn't done anything in 6 years, and Urahara himself was dehyped from the super-mega genius he once was - Mayuri easily usurped his hype status by figuring out how to beat an Elite Sternritter (the left hand of the Soul King no less). Urahara's man-of-mystery, scientist with questionable motives and methods angle was also abandoned to no one's surprise.

Fuck Shunsui, that guy introduced the worst 'asspull' of Bleach to date - the God Sword.

The only way this will be interesting is if Kubo gives it a Jojo-esque ending. I don't think he has the guts to do that though.

I've only ever read part 1 in full, is that a good example of a Jojo-esque ending?

I wouldn't mind it, really.

Still, its only gonna be 15 pages so really I expect nothing to be resolved or anyone to be satisfied.

Man if Aizen, after all his past work to try and overthrow the Soul King, has Bach right in front of him and doesn't try to take the Soul King's power for himself, and just says "whatever, I don't even care anymore", that might actually be the worst thing ever.

Edit: aside, how weak was it that, after a whole war fighting over trying to make a key to get to the Soul King, the quincies get in because Ichigo basically left the door open...

Yeah, even though SS arc was great, I kinda wish it had stayed slice-of-life/Japanese high school Ghostbusters. They could still have powerful moments with killing hollows like Grand Fisher.

Mayuri is great too. He's just so out there that it's hard not to be entertained.

Everything kinda went to shit at the end so I'll give Shunsui a pass for that (although it wasn't really his doing in the first place, he was just holding on to it).

When I think "JoJo ending," and I think of Kubo's situation, I expect a Stone Ocean/JoJo Part 6 ending.

But you may want to look/read that on your own time, because it's a bit of a doozy.

Yeah its on my list to get through, but y'know how backlogs are. Every season passes and I just have more and more and more on top of it.

Someday...

Does any one have this fan edit making Utitake looking like the final villain. Makes jokes that he is the son of the soul king, Aizen his apprentice, he made the hollows and the crowned jeweled.

A light chapter of One Piece covers about as much as four chapters of Bleach. A particularly dense one maybe ten. Bleach is mainly white space.

I remember one or two posters here who got really mad everytime someome disliked a Bleach chapter and somehow keep dragging One Piece to the discussion. Those guys still around?

Anyway I have a feeling this will ens without any closure. Just the battle ends, the group sees sunset and cut to many reaction shots and that's it lol.

Bleach aesthetic is so rad

The general is japanese based badass, Arrancar is Spanish? this last arc is german? its stupid as hell but its resulting sick name and such lol

Shonen Jump, who announced the manga was ending in 5 chapters 4 chapters ago

also Volume 74 will be the final volume and the next chapter is the final chapter of volume 74

Also last issue they announced that both Nisekoi and Bleach would be ending in this week's double issue with Nisekoi increased to 25 pages and Bleach a standard length

Me: What the fuck!!! 15 pages!?!?!? how the fuck is anything going to be concluded in 15 pages!?!?!?!

inner Aizen: since when were under the impression that Bleach would end any way but poorly?

Nisekoi is ending too!?!? great now I can skip all the fluff and find out who he choses(did the same with ichigo 100%)

The worst part about this being the standard 15 pages is that in Kubo and length it's more like 5 with how he likes to dedicate entire pages to words or a foot.

The last page is going to be a full white page with some words on it, calling it.
