Tite Kubo's Bleach Manga Nears Ending

Theresa getting that runback was godlike. Loved the ending to Claymore.

Madara getting his shit pushed in by 8 Gates Guy was the most badass part of the war.
eh I'll put that 2nd just cause I was expecting it to happen eventually, where as Madara kept surprising with the shit he pulled out of his ass

So the Soul Society arc made Bleach popular, but it also ended up hurting the manga in the long run?

Yes, completely true.

When you write a series, you need an exit ramp if the sales aren't great so you can close out. Kubo's was too hard to avoid (compared to Naruto or One Piece). Like, with Naruto, you can see how Kishi could end the series after the Chuunin Exams and call it (with some slight meddling). With One Piece, you can change up what happens when they hit the Grand Line and boom, decent wrap-up.

With Bleach, we got way too close to an ending at the end of the Soul Society arc. It was clearly (Ichigo beats the shikai captain) -> (Ichigo's bankai beats Byakuya) -> (Ichigo uses some Hollow stuff to beat Aizen). Then the series ends. Too much was blown in that arc, and there was really nowhere to go after that. I mean, by making Kenpachi lose to Ichigo there, you've guaranteed that Kenpachi can't win a fight again. That's crazy since he's super strong (in the lore) and insanely popular (with fans). No way can you make him lose to a guy with shikai.

Same for most Gotei people in that arc. They're all just portrayed as too weak, and so their later power boosts feel incredibly unearned.

Naruto vs. Jinchuriki and Obito vs. Naruto/Killer Bee/Kakashi/Guy justifies the War Arc, IMO.

The latter was well-paced, well choreographed, and reminded me of Part 1 fights with the tactics and trickery at play.

It turns really stupid when Madara shows up and the Juubi transformations, so long and boring.

Thinking back, I feel pretty comfortable in saying that this specific panel is the very point that Bleach was ultimately doomed to getting axed before it was clearly ready to be.

Like so many things that happened in Bleach, it was a seemingly cool movement that, while subverting expectations in theory, just ended up fucking the overall story over for a variety of reasons. At the very least, it is a microcosm of virtually everything that went wrong with the series.

I laughed at that scene for 2 reasons:

1: Ichigo is just knocked out, our HERO ladies and gentlemen.

2: Askin is just explaining that stuff, that doesn't making any sense why he would be explaining. Why would he be telling Ichigo that Gerad is the Soul King heart?

Also highlights Kubo doesn't know how people talk.

So I am guessing the chances of the anime coming back are close to nothing, right? Shame, there are spectacular fights to show.

The Arrancar Spanish inspired soundtrack was fantastic. I wanted to see their take on a German OST.

Poor Kira never got his chance to shine.

I wouldn't say never, but I can't imagine people are chomping at the bit to do it.

Sales for the manga are already kinda poor compared to where it used to be, its rankings in Jump have been near the bottom for almost half a decade now, and the anime itself has been cancelled for just as long. Even if they rushed it into production now when people are all talking about it again due to it ending, would we really be able to expect it to have an audience capable of supporting it through a pretty dire arc with an entirely unsatisfying ending?

Even the live action movie seems utterly futile now.

I thought the special announcement would be the anime. If they didn't announce it now when the Bleach talk is higher than it will ever be, when will they?

No spin-off manga, no movie, no OVA an no anime. Such a pathetic ending to one of the big 3. Bleach's compared to Naruto's is night and day.

Yeah, I can't see when or how it'll ever happen, especially with them having passed the obvious best time to do so.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually did. Inuyasha eventually managed to come back from cancellation after being gone for longer than Bleach has been cancelled, though we're rapidly approaching the point at which Bleach will have been cancelled for longer.

The send-off for Naruto was fucking huge. It really was a big deal, and I can't even imagine how enormous One Piece's will be.

Bleach will be out and forgotten like a fart in the wind.

I was about to comment on how Bleach was unceremoniously shoved off in the corner of the WSJ cover for its last chapter, but then it turns out Naruto was similarly in the corner of the cover for its last chapter too.

I ignored One Piece for the longest time because of this exact same reason. But honestly, after 100 chapters or so you just kinda get used to it.

I wanted to get into One Piece, but lost interest around the Vivi arc. Something about the stories just drag for me.

Yup. That is how epic final battles should go down. So far both Naruto and Bleach have disappointed in that regard and I imagine of the big three only One Piece will manage to have a satisfactory conclusion by the time Oda brings it to a close.

50 years down the line, if we're lucky.

Forever funny. Hollow Ichigo is the best.
I missed his antics always reminding us what a shot MC Ichigo was, dude litterally showed Ichigo how to properly use his bankai, showed him how to do black getsuga which Ichigo just imitated and showed Ichigo again how to "properly" use black getsuga. Also saved his ads against ulquoirra, he was fa real hollow MVP. Probably would have ended up with a more entertaining arancarr arc if he actually managed to take over.

All but one knocked out cold, but I'm not even sure they died. It was left sorta vague.

---

I wish the announcement was a Xenoverse-like videogame with a Storm-like story mode.

A Bleach 3d fighter would be awesome.

A game in which I can make my own shinigami and have him/her have their own shikai/bankai. Or an Arrancar with a resurreción? How I wish this was true.

foxuzamaki

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
There was a DBZ tenkaichi style bleach game that was never translated into English for some reason, especially for the time it came out that i rreeeaaallly wanted to play

TIL people actually like that obnoxious cockroach Obito.

I guess we can add their supposed corpses to the large pile of unresolved plots.

We can't even get a storm game for fucking One Piece we aren't getting it for Bleach.

how is that anime by the way

The new D.Gray-Man anime's good. The shift in art style and some of the voices might be awkward at first, and it also dumps you right in the story without really reintroducing the characters and concepts, so you might want to refresh your memory on how the first anime ended. One complaint about this part of the manga was how confusing the art was, and the anime definitely helps in that regard.

Hoshino art for battles have never been great, the fact her art just got more detailed during that arc made everything so messy.
