Todd Howard: Elder Scrolls 6 is still in a design phase

Other than Todd saying they will add even more stuff to Creation Engine 2 for TES Vl this interview gave pretty much nothing new.

Good lord. I guess with Starfield coming out next year they feel no pressure at all to rush this. This game is going to be cross-gen with the nextbox isn't it

2025 earliest with 2026 most probable imo. Not sure what was the point in announcing a game that's more than half a decade away.

Then why tease it? For fucks sake. Talking at least 2025 then really I imagine. Really wish studio's would just publish their roadmaps. It;s a fucking game, why the big secrecy?

Agree, they don't have anything. This game is most likely 3 years away, at least.
Well, if we're lucky Starfield comes out in November 2022....which means TES Vl will be 2025 at the earliest. They have a 3 year development phase between games. Fallout 76 --> Starfield with 4 years being the exception.

So if it's still in the 'design phase' 3 years after teasing it at E3, then what phase was it at back then...?
Pre-production.. like they said it was.. and have repeatedly said in interviews that it wouldn't really be in development for a while.

It's known they don't have a dev team on the project.

Measure twice, cut once. A well planned out game will go through development more cleanly. That's what makes good studio leads so valuable. The ability to strategize and put resources in the right places.

*start of next generation in 2028*

todd howard: elder scrolls 6 is still in very early development.

seriously though, this game is probably atleast a decade away. if im still alive, i'll be freaking 39 years old by then.

Skyrim was 10 years ago.
However, they're still pumping out expansions for the Elder Scrolls Online.

Seriously, they could release an offline version of ESO as it is today and call it "The Elder Scrolls VI" and I feel like most people would be happy with that.

At least this means that it won't be cross-gen.
You mean it will be so far into the NEXT generation it won't be playable on Series X?

Is Skyrim still selling? This feels like the GTA VI situation where GTA V won't stop selling that Rockstar refuses to make GTA VI.

So have you a company that had a solid track record of releasing great games in a series you love... 10-20 years ago.

Their modern games like The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76 have been hugely successful ventures for Bethesda. If you don't think those games will influence the design decisions of The Elder Scrolls VI, you're kidding yourself.
