I liked this week's chapter. Although there was very little in the way of action, there was significant character development for Torso, whom I previously thought was a worthless character but now I can somewhat see his motivations. It's strange though, you'd think he'd view life as precious and wouldn't deprive others of their loved ones considering how someone he saw as precious was stolen from him but I guess he's trying to fill that void left behind and he's trying to replicate the feeling and beauty of this lost person... Whose name escapes me.

pacing slowed down and I don't mind it

Torso childhood friend is basically Mutsuki (same family background), he and Mutsuki also shares similar thought process during their teenage years but sort of opposite: Mutsuki suppressed his violent behavior, Torso's youth was naive and also love his childhood friend but he doesn't recognize it and progressed into a violent monster.

Really hard to say what direction it'll go, but it's getting interesting.

Torso is shit but honestly the direction seems to aim at Torso dying for Mutsuki:

How he wants to bring her to the ocean, etc, might be a twist, but judging at how he talks about finding his friend's "will to live/life force" beautiful, at the end I imagine he probably wouldn't mind dying to let Mutsuki live.

edit: I think it's because Ghouls have the natural instinct to kill and eat and on top of that Torso is also uneducated, he didn't really make sense of his feelings and they are likely also suppressed along with the act of killing his father, since he said he don't remember it and he didn't seem to feel a single thing about it, and from that point on he chose to go by his instinct which result in his affection for his friend getting twisted.

Yeah yeah, another flashback but that was one of better ones we've seen. Fuck Torso still, but it was a nice story and a good change of pace. I kinda feel like slowing things down now is nice.

Really interested what happens next. I'm with people that the torso Urie saw was Torso's, but I wanna know how Mutsuki pulls that off, especially with no arms or hands. I don't think he can create arms and legs like Kaneki, since I think Kaneki's fake arms and legs were part of his Kakuja.

Mutsuki isn't regenerating like Kaneki folks, she's not Rinkaku. Doesn't rule out the body being Torso's, but I'm not expecting her to pull a Kaneki and grow back her limbs. Kakuja seems unlikely as well, given she hasn't been cannibalizing other ghouls.

The fuck
Mutsuki cut off Torso's head and limbs. She even fucking castrated him.

She's fucking crazy, it's about time Ishida revealed that part about her.

Also is she the one that got Suzuya blamed for killing cats because we see her killing cats here.

If so fuck her that's unforgivable.

Edit: She just became unredeemable.

wow Ishida delivered

Mutsuki is fucked up lol

this is quite a turn of events
hmm who's the special class mentioned at the end?

I'm not sure if they're in the academy the same year, Tokage have always been killing the cats before Mutsuki, and Suzuya also saw Tokage doing it

Wait, what happened in the auction?

He
ate the CCG corpses, when he got hurt in the auction he had trouble walking/regenerating until running into a hallway of dead CCG employees, then it showed him clenching his teeth, the scene skipped to something else and when the scene went back to Mutsuki he had mostly regenerated after "taking a break".

Now I question the events that we saw. Was torso actually a bad dude that cut off her limbs and raped and beat her repeatedly or was that all in her imagination and all he did was held her in captivity and wanted to legit show her the flowers?

I dont know what to believe anymore

Wheres amon? I want amon

dude is legit a crazy guy who cut off Mutsuki's limbs, and has been beating him up whenever Mutsuki struggle repeatedly, that's basically what we know, Mutsuki never mentioned about rape so I think the author left that part ambiguous because it could just mean Mutsuki suppressed that part of his memory and don't like to think about it or he just didn't, but it can be viewed as he did because what Mutsuki did to him after would make a lot more sense (outside of his hatred for his father).

but Torso legitimately wanted to take Mutsuki to see the flowers, sucks for the guy

I bet Amon will appear in the next chapter =P I think Amon met Akira for the first time in chapter 80 in the original TG and we're at ch79 in :re, believe!

Great chapter; interesting use of the cat to compare and contrast his situation to Suzuya. I don't think there is much hope for Mutsuki to remain at CCG now unlike the former, especially with the parallel to Kaneki's situation in the original (which had him leave Anteiku). Perhaps he'll get picked up by Amon and Kurona.

Are Amon and Kurona on the same side? I know that they're both share in interest in the scientist who started all this but beyond that I never thought that they were allied. Hopefully they DON'T take in Mutsuki...a crazy person like that doesn't need to rolling with Amon!

I'm just assuming here based on the brief glimpse we saw of them together at the end of the last arc. Mutsuki feels like the kind of person who just needs some guidance; I think Amon would be a good person to provide. I agree that we'll probably find out more next week (props to Anteater for noticing the chapter correlation)!

This is at least tangentially TG related.

Sui's Hisoka One Shot

Last year Sui joked about doing a origin story one shot of the character Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter for April Fools.

With HxH getting a new volume for the first time in forever and :re's volume coming out at the same time, apparently the magazines got together and actually made the joke real.

Hey, it even looks like Togashi's scribbles. I like how Sui didn't try and copy Togashi though, you can definitely tell it is him via the paneling and character designs. They're also both writers who do a shitton of talking. Apparently there was an interview with Sui and Togashi, I'm more interested in reading that.

They either are or he was looking for her after the auction. (the panel of him whispering Yasuhisa after obliterating ghouls)

Why would Amon take in a monster that's just as bad as Torso? This chap pretty much confirmed she was batshit insane and hiding it all along.

Mutsuki would fit in Aogiri :P

Someone translated the interview as well!

Welp, you said it. The chapter ending in a nutshell.

nah juuzou is gunna die:
yeah suzuya raising death flags:

this line: your lackeys/subordinates huh, your "most important/most precious", I'm glad I get to show Shiro your suffering.

We know Suzuya couldn't actually feel pain, so kurona wants to kill all of Suzuya's teammates because they seem to be important to him now inorder to make him "suffer", in the Joker one shot, Hanbee mirrors Suzuya on how he failed to protect his father (Suzuya lost Shinohara) and Hanbee ended up protecting Suzuya in the incident, I think this time Suzuya will die to protect his squad instead, and ultimately ending up following Shinohara's footsteps.

Fuck Juuzou! I like how his character has changed since TG but he was a sadistic fuck when he fought the twins back in TG. It was heartbreaking watching them suffer so much and for Shiro to die in Kurona's arms... *tear drops* I personally think that the fact that his subordinates are present means that he will die. It seems that Aogiri was in shambles after Jason and Shiro passed and Kurona defected. Sure they got Takizawa in return but their war potential seems to have taken a nose drive while CCG has added a number of Beasts to its ranks.

Man, Suzuya feels like an afterthought in RE. He had a lot of development and presence in the OG, but now he's just kinda there. The only memorable thing was his little backstory during the auction and that fight with that grotesque mom ghoul.

If he does die I can't say I really care.

yeah he's a fully developed character, I think he was foreshadowed as some Arima-like genius but they never went anywhere with that, it's why I think he'll probably die, even Ui gets more development than him

81 Spoilers, oh fuck

Kaneki fucking won, that was smart of him to use his talking kagune that way, Owl is destroyed so if Arima is going half ghoul now would be the time, more CCG employees are on their way so he's gonna get exposed if he does, maybe he'll kill everyone? This is gonna get real messy for him and Furuta if they continue to drag.

and RIP Juuzou

and Kurona just fucking absorbed her sister's corpse using their kagune, lol

i don't see how kaneki won that fight, so the twin was floppy this whole time eh...

I don't think shizu is dead.

Amon dream is dead, he's just a running gag at this point. :(

all thanks to his talking kagune

eto could've done the same but she didn't

at this point amon is probably going to get his own side story somewhere

did he win ? i dont see it judging from the last panel... looks like arima is blocking the attack ?

Kaneki didn't win yet; he just broke his kagune (as he's done before). I'll bet that if Arima is a ghoul, we're going to see it next chapter (or next time they come back to this fight). Even if Kaneki gets his ass kicked, it would be good timing since the CCG backup is heading to that location.

Also I don't think Juuzou is dead yet. Don't think they'd off such a developed character that abruptly.

Arima's quinque is broken, I don't think he's taken any real damage yet. Time to show off that kagune Arima, fuck shit up.

btw I'm totally cool with Juuzou getting off'd, haven't cared for his character at all during RE.

Arima didn't lose yet peeps. If anything, this would be the point where someone landed a solid punch, but Arima will respond with an uppercut.

I would've cared for Suzuya if it was the original TG since he had so much development then. But he isn't breathe main focus in re so whatever happens won't affect me.

did he win ? i dont see it judging from the last panel... looks like arima is blocking the attack ?

kaneki destroyed his quinque, so he has nothing to fight with, so it's the perfect time he reveal he's a ghoul or stop fighting

he's most definitely a (half) ghoul but I still hope not lol

Finally, comeuppance for Juuzuo for being an obnoxious little shit in part 1. God Bless Kurona.

Not very fond of making her yet another seemingly cray cray character. but at least her kakuja mask is dope. The multitude of eyes is a common trope but one I'm nevertheless always fond of. Though I hoped to see something of the kind on Kaneki's new kakuja as that one early panel in :re seemed to imply.

Arima vs Kaneki was really nice in that it was something bit different than just usual trading of the blows and Kaneki was forced to strategize a bit.

I guess it's time for ghoul Arima and maybe Hirako ?

Chapter 82 is out

Yoo what in the world

RIP in peace Arima. Furuta is just a half ghoul created by Kanou, that's laaaame, how is he so fucking perfect?

I guess we might get to see some Arima flashback next chapter. I guess the dude might just be tired of being a puppet his entire life.

This fucked up all my thoughts about V, since they seem to breed humans and ghouls and likely no half ghouls.

super peace

it's probably his character though

i honestly think the guy is just a depressing dude

dude couldn't even think of his last words to write for all his missions even though he know he could die

he probably has affection towards kaneki and he didn't say shit to him

not to mention he looks sad all the damn time

Vhsxjig.jpg

he probably don't even want anything, except for the fact he actually has affection for kaneki, I sorta feel sorry for him, he probably was just conditioned to just kill or be killed

This chapter was so disappointing and anticlimatic. I'm willing to bet Kanou is the One Eyed King, honestly nothing would suprise me at this moment in time. So many things were mishandled. God, I swear with all these weaving storylines and character plot threads, Tokyo Ghoul is the ASOIAF of manga

furuta being a kanou experiment was speculated and sorta foreshadowed, doesn't make it less shit, it's at mgs4 tier story telling tho

but i'm glad Arima isn't a fucking half ghoul :P

the more important thing in this chapter is this shit tho
