Tom Clancy's The Division - Information Hub

My hype for the game has died down a little (not surprising given it's been quiet on the news front for a while now) but still have it pre-ordered on PS4. Hopefully I'll be able to grab an Xbox One beta code to try it out.

In case anyone still hasn't preordered, this week at best buy you get $15 in rewards certificates if you preorder the division by 12/5 with gamers club unlocked.

I'm probably going to bite on that for the pc version. $33 after discounts and rewards day 1 with beta access sounds pretty good.

Well I pulled the trigger and preordered through best buy for the pc version. The $15 in rewards cards plus the GCU discount was enough to take a chance on it.

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
So I can confirm I've been at MASSIVE Entertainment this entire week and have been in direct contact with the dev team. I've also seen the game, I've played the game, and that Tidux is full of shit. :)

Will be posting a lot of thoughts and impressions very soon.
Oh this'll be good.

I can say with confidence that the community is not prepared or even aware with just what's in store for them at launch. Gonna be a great year.

Can you describe what the content will be like for those who play single player? I am interested in The Division but I have not interest in playing with other people. I got burned by Destiny and don't want to make the same mistake again.

I sure hope Ubi is taking notes from the lumps Acti and Bungie took-- in terms of critical reception, obviously not sales-- from Destiny's launch and are planning to bring a much meatier experience, in terms of content available, at launch. We'll go all in on future DLC/expansions if the base gameplay and world is worth it, but if preview impressions point to it being super sparse on places to go/things to do and instead lean heavily into locking people into a repetitive loop of only a handful of things, I'd expect a lot of people to take a wait-and-see approach instead going in day 1.

I say this as someone that bought into Destiny from day 1 and regretted it-- though now that regret is mitigated primarly due to everything that is TTK-- and am cautiously optimistic about The Division. I'm really hoping for a strong outing from Ubi on this one.

I so want to trust you, the game has enormous appeal to me and i've been looking for an online-rpg to play with friends for an eternity now, but everything turns out to be disappointing.

I will absolutely let you guys know, when im allowed to. Just wait a bit longer. They are as excited as we are to let the flood gates open.

The game far exceeded my expectations on all levels. Im way more excited now than I ever was before.

I've been trying to tell the naysayers. Don't doubt Massive. They are an incredible developer.

My concern as well. The whole raid aspect ruined the game for me. If it had just been strikes I would have been fine. Hopefully division has something for us.

Glad to see I am not alone. I am OK with meeting a random player or two while doing my thing, but really don't want to interact with others on a regular basis.

I do not mind being always online, but I just hope there is enough single player story content to last me as long as a regular game of this type (20ish hours).

This game is definitely a "wait for reviews" and "wait for a discount" title.

I'm cautiously optimistic but I think it can't possibly be as good as DigitalHitmann is making out.
Fingers crossed though.

I have very low expectations for this game, but Massive is a good developer and i also had low expectations for Splinter Cell Blacklist, which ended up being the most fun i've had in 2013, ahead of Last of Us and GTAV.

I'll keep an eye out, but i'll definitely keep my expectations in check.

Aaaaaand I'm hyped for this game again. It's what convinced me to make the next-gen jump so hopefully I'll blow me away come later December. Hard to believe that it was originally intended to come out Q4 2014.

There's so much about is title I can't tell you guys that I know now, that makes me appreciate everything they've fought for, for this title so, so much more. Like you THINK you know the full story about how this title came to be and how it evolved from day one, but you really have no clue, and you probably never will. Tidux certainly doesn't know a damn thing, I can tell you that.

Sitting down with Thom Clancy, the son of the author, at several events has really opened my eyes just to how much love and care these studios put into their games to stay true to his dad's initial vision while still expressing creative freedom.

The Division is one hundred percent unique in that there is no established background or ground work with a novel, book, game, et cetera and hearing Thom say, "My dad would love this game" is the most rewarding thing to me as a personal friend of his and a fan of the brand.

I went ahead and pre-ordered this as it was the last day to get $15 back in rewards points from Best Buy, despite not knowing much about it. These are the Future Soldier guys, right? I thought that game was solid enough.

Will there be any sort of single-player content?

This is the team behind Ground Control and World in Conflict. Future Soldier was Paris, Bucharest and Redstorm.

The game can be played 100% solo.

The division (horrible pun I know) of labor on this title is split between MASSIVE who is doing creative design and development as well as oversight on the entire project, Annecy which is doing wildlife and NPC interaction, Reflections which is doing missions and lore, and Redstorm whose /amazing/ audio engineering and weapons modeling team is making all the things go bang.

Wait till you fire the Kriss Vector with a suppressor for the first time or have a grenade catch you off guard with a good headset on for the first time. So rewarding.

So could Destiny technically. But I'm cautiously optimistic about being able to solo this.

That's the thing, Destiny isn't fun solo. This is, ALOT of fun solo and to me so much more rewarding because you feel like you're the last hope the city has. I won't spoil it but there's a reason why the game makes you think that way.

Can I just preorder for Beta access and cancel preorder for XBONE?

Just do it through Amazon. They don't charge till the game ships.

Yeah you can absolutely customize your Agent. From character creation to what they wear. There are 3 weapon slots (primary, secondary, sidearm), six stat changing armor slots, and six cosmetic slots. Cosmetic slots layer so if you have say body armor on, your jacket will go over top, or you can completely unequip the jacket and just rock the body armor. They want your Agents to be unique to you. There's also male / female, different hair styles, facial features, tattoos, ect.. List goes on.

Is there more information out of the survival aspect in-game? I vaguely remember the player able to find water in one of the walkthrough videos; is it needed to survive, or like Fallout where it gives a amount of health back, or is it just used as ressources that you can then sell for some $?

All right, I'll take your word for it. I hated doing the bounty/daily mission run in Destiny. Can I do everything solo in The Division or is there multi only areas?
