Tom Clancy's The Division - Ubisoft + Massive, MMO Open World TPS RPG

I guess it's just me and you then.

I don't ever want to hear neogaf complain about games set in New York ,the post-apocalypse, third person co-op shooters, gritty realism, white male protagonists,or guns ever again. Wrap the same shit in shiny new graphics and people will drool over it.

I'm more excited about the open world multiplayer MMO aspect.

I love how multiplayer works. Ubisoft implementing this 'open world', MMO style multiplayer to its games which is amazing.

But didn't the Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 3 reveal look really amazing compared to the actual game released? Must not trust Ubisoft. Same thing with the Watch DOg reveal actually.

yup an important point to remember. but gameplay and story wise this sound really interesting.

That and the RPG aspect. Who knows? The game could end up being cool and interesting. The reaction just seems a bit hypocritical to me at the moment since what we've seen is basically a bullet point list of everything gaf claims to hate. And people are frothing.

I'll probably rent watch dogs (can I do that next gen?) but I'll definitely be buying The Division.

For all my complaining about shooters, there seem to be a lot of good ones coming out.

So it sounds like it isn't a full MMO per se where you could have hundreds/thousands of people running around in the same place, but it will be an open world with a seamless multiplayer where you can have parties of friends, and then other random players might fade in/out.

I'm curious to see more though - what we got didn't really define how the game will actually work in practice. Could be very good, or just sort of fall flat.

My interest level is inversely correlated with the degree to which this is actually an mmo. Is there an actual story? Writing? An end to said story?

Ubisoft did it again.

Last year Watch_Dogs.

Now this fucker right here.

My lord.........

I need this game.

This looked so good. Didn't wow me like Watch dogs did last year but i'm still plenty excited.

This looked very cool. After MGS V, this is probably the most intriguing game today for me.

Also, all of the radio chatter was supposed to be players in voice chat, right? Probably a dumb question, but I'm assuming it was.

I didn't notice it. Was it really running one a PS4?
He was definitely playing with a PS4 controller at least.

This sold me the moment I saw it. I hope watchdogs has some of this.

THIS is truly next-gen.

Very disappointed no PC mention of this.

Probably a very small segment of PC gamers can play this at this visuals if you ask me.

This is probably the reason they didn't make a version for it.

IMO this blows anything on PC out of the water. The effects here are mind blowing.

This is my game of the show so far, it was so damn good and it looks like Ubi is going all out on it. Shooting felt so good, graphics looked so crisp, day one'ing this.

Prove me wrong then.

There is nothing on PC that looks this good as far as I am aware. I have seen Crysis 3, Metro LL, etc they don't impress me as much as this. In fact they are just glorified current gen games, with current gen assets.

Watch Dogs?

There is not a single effect there that Crysis 3 does not do and there are tons in Crysis 3 that are absent from this video, like particle physics, or reflections from every surface, cloud shadows etc

Even if Crysis 3 is 'current gen' game, there was no single next-gen game that does this

Assets quality in Division is amazing, looks like very expensive game and i'm really excited for it, what a pity its not on PC ;\

Clearly this was played on the PC. The only question is will the Final Build of the game look like this. We always see amazing shit at E3, but then it looks downgraded or more simple once the retail release rolls around.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I highly doubt this will even come close to Witcher 3/Crysis 3 levels.

But it's pretty, and as Crysis 3 shows us, pretty games are always the best games.

In all seriousness, this looks like a competent game trailer that advertises an rpg with unknown customizability, as well as an MMO. I don't think it's going to be very unique by the end of the next console generation judging by how many games are implementing "MMO" features as always online DRM, but it is probably going to be pretty fun.

Also, that in-game map looks terrible. It's a bunch of visual clutter for what should be a very simple and intuitive feature.

Well its that time. Its a new generation so its time to go out and troll the fuck out of the PC platform.
Just gotta ignore the bait :lol From PC and console trolls. Though E3 is dragged down by this stuff every year it seems so I guess it's just part of the experience at this point.

I did not see anything that wouldn't be possible on my PC
