Nope. I hate the up close batman arkham cam that steals 1/3 of the screen.
Give us back fixed cams that showed off the huge landscapes and cinematic fighting angles + Stick flick instant dodge rolling!
100%. I enjoyed the first God of War on PS4, I really couldn’t get into Ragnarok. Some games don’t translate as well when you completely change the camera angle. For instance, and believe me I know I’m an old man, but even older games like Castelvania’s and Metroid’s, for me honestly (even Mario), never could be what they were as 2D games.

Sure , don’t get me wrong, games like Zelda OOT and Mario 64 were great, but to me they were one of a kind and the other 3d versions for me at least could never be what the original Super Mario Bros, Or OG LoZ ever were. And I couldn’t even look at, play, or enjoy the Metroid Primes (after both 2D masterpieces), and never had any interest whatsoever in the 3d Castlevania games.

OG Kratos is just Atrius just five years older from the last game with a shaved head, war paint, and runs around yelling at everything like an emotionally challenged young man. That’s exciting?
Yet the character and entire story is he killed the GOD OF WAR and became it himself. I’d think fictionally, if there were any such “God” of War, he’d pretty much be pissed off all the time. Grow the fuck up.

I think Egypt makes sense for main game. And they can remaster/remake the OG trilogy on a side with different studio.

Although they really should go to India next. Who doesn’t want to fight Shiva? 🧐

This is perfect. Sony already has a young actor in its pocket:

Remaking 1 + 2 in the Ninja Gaiden sense, where they use a brand new engine, but keep the core gameplay same, would be awesome.

here’s the new young kratos, please be excited

I wouldn’t even be surprised anymore if that’s what they do to him. Perhaps this is a more ‘Inclusive’ Kratos who uses they/them pronouns. He is young and rebellious and he will have a unicorn he rides into battle with as well. Nothing is off the table with the way this industry has been going lately. What a bloody shit show that would be.

The talent that knows how to do the first 3 games no longer exists at SSM.

What you will get is a for “modern audiences” attempt at Kratos.

Prequel would be really cool. I'm done for it

False. God of War Ragnarok has better gameplay than any of the original trilogy in terms of combat.

There's nothing magical about the original series, or some kind of talent loss. GoW2018 and Ragnarok are both highly rated.

Boring. Should have made him turn back evil after the modern games. Going back to young Kratos to doing the prequel feels like a cop out. Like they want to make sure that he stays a bitch in the lore so let’s don’t do a sequel. If they did a proper sequel, there is no way they would be able to get away from making him no longer a bitch.

Should do a new one in modern times where he is a badass. This also is anticlimactic since we are will know what he eventually becomes.

Imagine getting a new Dragon Ball Z game, but it takes place during the Namek saga. We’ve already seen future power levels, it’s a boring cop out they chose so they wouldn’t have to write a difficult story. The story will also be a meaningless, irrelevant recon, since it wasn’t needed for the new game. they can just make up one episodic story, make sure it has nothing to do with a new game, and there you go. shoehorned in and meaningless. What a disappointing premise. The most boring of all premises. The most safe of all premises.

I’m calling it now, they want to trade Kratos out, they know they can’t do it this game, but they will never make him not a bitch again. We’ve seen the final timeline of Kratos, and the end of his story, anything that ever happens in God of war after the end of Ragnarok, we have a different hero. Sad.

"nothing magical about the original series" + "God of War Ragnarok has better gameplay than any of the original trilogy in terms of combat" = lol, LMAO even

Man, you'd really defend everything that's associated with our Lord and savior Sony

I'd say you're joking but knowing you for the past 3 years in here...😁

A new god of war game back in Greece with no kid yet using the modern framework and camera would be interesting.

Nothing about the new camera or whatever from the new games make it special (if anything that garbage needs to be thrown out, in favor of free camera control, that isn't up Kratos ass).

I always found the lack of camera control frustrating, plus most of those landscapes were just flat paintings anyway. I would much rather we have something that is like the newer games with larger areas to play in.

Sure, buddy. Whatever rocks your boat.

You can keep your homogenized, corpo-approved, focus group tested, curated for modern audiences, bastardized version of Kratos.

You can also take the mediocre, souls like wanabee combat and shove it in your preferred hole.

I can’t wait to see the bullshit they come up with, tho, I would love to be proved wrong, but Sony has nothing by misses since the start of this gen.

Sure…buddy….opinions

I bet you screamed at the end of gow3 as it all devolves into one big kratos guilt trip

The pacing, dynamic music, and use of the fixed cameras for epic shots in the original trilogy make a narrative masterclass, infinitely better than the new games. I like GOW 2018 (good side quests, some set pieces) but the pacing and narrative is vastly inferior. They replaced the old epicness with a melancholic vibe that doesn't benefit the series, more so when we have no attachment to Kratos's wife. That's one of many narrative mistakes, my favorite being the "revelation" at the end which doesn't have any weight because the game didn't bother to foreshadow the reasons why that name is important. That's why many YouTube reactions were like "OMG, Atreus is the guy from the MCU??!"

Massive facepalm.

He looks visibly upset about the challenges of going bald. He has slain every enemy in existence but is powerless to the follicular challenge he now faces…….and that is driving him crazy. That would explain why he is old and grumpy and has an eternal bug up his ass now.

Nintendo wanted 3D so badly that they've wrecked a whole bunch of their best IP by forcing it into 3D.
Jumping to the 'new thing' when the old thing works better is modern gaming's biggest flaw.
Castlevania doesn't work in 3D and Shmups don't work in 3D.
On top of that, Shmups don't work in widescreen 16:9 and Castlevania won't either.

I honestly don't think anyone would deny this. The newer games have way deeper mechanics, steeper learning curve in learning all the combos you could do with axe, the blades and runic attacks. The older games, while good, were button mashy and required less skill. Try button mashing in the newer games 😅, while you could've gotten away with it in the old games, it's not possible here. Again people shouldn't think I'm dissing the older ganes, they were still good, it's just too bad they lived in the same world like the more skill based devil may cry series.

Nothing about the new combat system is mediocre. Sure it's not Souls, but is not mediocre at all. Its meaty, its heavy, its tactical, it's skill based. What better combat system did you play in recent years? Not mentioning Souls of course, I'm curious

Stellar Blade, Wukong, Lies of Pi. All these are much deeper, tighter, and purely skill-based. GOW never aimed at depth combat-wise. The originals prioritized executions and spectacularity, while the new ones try something that falls halfway. The combat is "better" in depth and variety, yet it feels insufficient for the type of game it wants to be. It's just slightly better than Spiderman.

Lmao at wukong 😂, you already lost me there. The originals prioritize spectacle over deep mechanics. They felt loose, hitting your enemies never felt satisfying as it lacked ooomph. The only thing I would probably give the old gow over the new ones, are the puzzles and platforming sections but that's it. The new ones feel deep, the game feels deep, every hit detection feels strong, something Wukong lacked btw. It's all about how the game mechanics feel, and the new God of War makes sure that the everytime you dodge, hit or execute enemies it feels satisfying. I can't say stuff about stellar blade or lies of pi but lol at Wukong.

The hitboxes in Wukong are so weird that some Bosses manage weird Maneuver where they hit you out of nowhere. For that reason alone I can't take some seriously when they mention Wukong. That's a huge flaw for something that relies on Boss encounters. Maybe the devs didn't shouldn't have included those giant bosses, aka the centaur/centipede boss that made me quit the game forever after I realize that way too many times my attacks didn't register for some reason. That boss was ticking point for me.

Stop you right there.

Atreus is 14 in Ragnarok.
Kratos is almost 40 when he becomes the God of War.

And he’s said to be over 1000 years old in the two recent games. There’s a lot in between GoW3 and the new God of War that we don’t know about.
