Tom Warren seems to throw cold water on rumours of Switch 2 being as capable as PS4 Pro

These videos are getting more absurd. If he really wanted to show how Cyberpunk 2077 has come "a long way" then why isn't he comparing it to the game running on a maxed out PC with path tracing and all the bells and whistles? He think Switch 2 shows how far the game has come?

My nibba, look at the thread you're in.

People tend to forget that there is much more than TF when it comes to the power of a machine. Docked switch can run games that a PS4 Pro can't, and handheld Switch 2 that a PS4 can't. And in the vast majority of cases, the Switch 2 version of games those consoles have in common will look better.

It has a much more recent feature set (rtx, dlss...), more RAM, a much better CPU...

The switch 2 is more of a Series S lite than a PS4+. And I wouldn't be surprised if there was occasionally games running/looking better on Switch 2 than series S. CP2077 is just the beginning, it's literally a launch game.

Same as the Switch 1 which ended up running surprisingly competent ports of Ace Combat 7 or Kingdom Come, the Switch 2 will probably surprise us further down the line.

To complement, this is el analista on X:

"Switch 2 has better textures, global illumination and higher level of detail than Xbox Series S and PS4 Pro in Cyberpunk 2077. It also offers better general performance than PS4 Pro version.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I think if the dev take advantage of the new architecture, like mesh shader, and leverage DLSS and RT cores, and its larger pool of memory. We might see better looking games than xbox one x. Would expect DLSS to do a lot of heavy lifting abeit at 30fps.

I thought that channel isn't to be trusted?

If DF is right, it should perform a bit better than PS4 and with DLSS be pretty close to PS4 Pro in image quality, but in terms of raw power it clearly won't be as good.

LOL the expectations keep dropping. This thing is pathetic for the price. Also that crappy old LCD screen to boot.

The Copium is starting. Now they start making the excuses

Bahahaha. Dude was so clearly full of shit now that everything is known and docked Switch 2 actually turned out much stronger than almost anyone speculated.

What will these Nintendo hating fanboys make up next, lol? Complain about the screen in handheld/baby mode? It's 2025 folks. Get a LG and man up. It's nut cutting time.

They only thing they have is shitting on the LCD screen… So sad 🤣

Then what is the frame rate average? Easy to say "better", but if he has analyzed it then where is the data?
Disregard. Probably should post this along with the video:

PS4 Pro: Dynamic 1188p/30fps (Common 1080-972p)

Nintendo Switch 2:
  • Docked:
Quality Mode: Upscaled 1080p/30fps with NVIDIA DLSS (from common 720p~635p)Performance Mode: Upscaled 1080p/~40fps with NVIDIA DLSS (from common 635~540p)
  • Handheld:
Quality Mode: Upscaled 1080p/30fps with NVIDIA DLSS (from common 635p~504p)Performance Mode: Upscaled 720p/~40fps with NVIDIA DLSS (from common 540~480p)Xbox Series S:
  • Quality Mode: Upscaled 1440p/30fps with AMD FSR (from common 1440p~1260p)
  • Performance Mode: Upscaled 1080p/60fps with AMD FSR (from common 9720p~800p)
PS5:
  • Ray-Tracing Mode: Upscaled 2160p/30fps with AMD FSR (from common 1800p~1440p)
  • Performance Mode: Upscaled 2160p/60fps with AMD FSR (from common 1620p~1080p)

  • The platforms chosen for this comparison have been chosen to help contextualize the graphical capabilities of Nintendo Switch 2 in Cyberpunk 2077 with quite a few surprises.
  • CD Projekt Red has put a lot of effort into making a great version of Cyberpunk 2077 for Switch 2.
  • Despite its lower rendering resolution, Switch 2 shows image quality on par with the PS4 Pro and Xbox Series S versions thanks to DLSS.
  • In Handheld mode, Switch 2 maintains its sharpness in quality mode. However, the performance mode sacrifices resolution a bit lower than expected.
  • Xbox Series S sacrifices the quality of ambient occlusion in performance mode, while Switch 2 maintains it.
  • Switch 2 also shows better textures compared to Xbox Series S. As for the shadows, they are better in performance mode, but inferior in quality mode compared to Microsoft's console.
  • The draw distance and level of detail is also superior in some moments on Switch with respect to PS4 Pro and Xbox Series S.
  • PS4 Pro has a more inconsistent framerate than Switch in general, however, the PS4 Pro version stopped receiving support after version 1.6. This is something to keep in mind.
  • The target framerate for performance mode on Switch 2 is 40fps, but it can drop to as low as 30fps at some points. In this sense, it falls far short of the 60fps offered by Series S.
  • Load times are twice as fast on Switch 2 compared to PS4 Pro, but twice as slow as PS5 and Xbox Series S.
  • Cyberpunk 20777 has exceeded all my expectations on Switch 2, being a highly recommended version.

Yea, and it's also an almost empty sandbox, so you have much more space to have fun with yourself. I wonder why CDPR, instead of releasing that CP2077 Switch 2 demake, didn't just release a (480p) YouTube let's play (DLSS upscaled) on a game-key card. That would certainly be enough for an average passionate Nintendo fan, wouldn't it?

Gamer79 Gamer79 has had a hate boner for the SW2 since before it came out. Dude got a PC and went full platform warrior.

I wouldn't trust his opinion ion on the SW2 to be genuine in the slightest.
I call it like I see it. I still love the original Switch. The Switch 2 is full Nintendo greed.

You could just quote the post lol

Fanboys always talking about specs and power while Nintendo easily sells 100+ million units with 20+ million selling games.

It's all about self insecurities really.

I'm actually playing the game, NPC count isn't an issue at all. Awful driving is though, and there are some bugs regarding ennemies who attack you (like they fly back and forth, get stuck behind a car, and then when died their body slide on the ground until disappearing

Wow the Switch 2 version looks vastly superior....

I'm pretty sure it can run any game ever released based on this. I mean if it beats PS4 Pro on cyberpunk(an open world heavy cpu game) what can't it display? Like, this system will get every multiplat game until PS6 at least.

I...don't think a waving dick about the big sales number show the other self insecurities...
