I don't really understand how one can call this "lazy" either.

I believe a game with no new ideas of its own, that copies wholesale from every other modern AAA title on Earth, is "lazy." Maybe not in the sense that they didn't have a huge team working on the game, but in the sense that they didn't even bother to try to come up with a concept that a.) fit the series in any way and b.) had any original ideas of its own to justify the reboot with such drastic change. It's literally like they just said 'ok let's make Uncharted where you have the barest illusion of exploration plastered on top.'

But at this point, as is always obvious, what is one man's "lazy" is another man's "OMG I AM DYING OF ANTICIPATION AND WILL LITERALLY FAINT THE SECOND I PLAY THIS".

PC version only.

Console version looks like this:

Lmao. I own a console, but nevertheless....good one!

What I don't get is, based on the last few threads, it looks like they could just get the full level of excitement staring at screenshots and pictures of the actress. But no, sexist OLD Lara was the only reason people even cared about the old games, those were terrible!

Don't even bother man, people like that have their minds made up no matter how incorrect their 2005 notions of PC gaming are.

The bolded is especially amazing. You have to pay $50-$60 to get a game that looks and runs as horrible as most multiplatform console games do now, while I got a ridiculously better looking and running version for half that price. Blows my mind how unfair that is, but I'm not complaining :)

This may be the only time I ever completely agree with you.

I understand owning and even preferring a console, but there its not one reason to think that it's easier or cheaper than pc. The money I save buying pc games more than pays for any required upgrades. Also, pc games scale better if I ever feel the need not to upgrade...

Please don't misunderstand. I'm not advertising pc. I'm saying that there is no real negative that puts it lower than consoles in any way.

So much salt. I'll marinate my dinner in it.

SHENANIGANS!

But it also says we can preload...kinda hard to do that without the code.

No review code until Tuesday... is this concerning? It feels a little like how they don't screen movies like Norbit earlier for reviewers.

HAHAHAHHAAHAHA....wait, what are we laughing at? I hate not being in on the joke.

The first person said it's appropriate to discuss Luddington as it's her likeness and voice in the game at hand. Person two laughed, suggesting that we are not really discussing her so much as leering at pictures of her. After all, what is there to have a civilized discussion about before the game comes out? I say old chaps I rather fancy her buttocks in this photograph!

Knowing Nixxes, it's most likely fine. I assume they just need some last-minute polish time. It's still annoying, but it happens.

Your corporate droney-ness.

Yeah, that never happened.

Meh, we've also discussed her acting ability in other shows and how that may or may not relate to her voice-acting work. She's also a beautiful girl playing a beautiful girl. Seems logical that might come up...among other things. I kid! But seriously, gorgeous girl.

So in lieu of Camilla pics, what should we post instead? Would bullshots or pics of the neckbeard devs be preferable?

Just heard (along with PC Gamer, it seems) that PC review codes are now unavailable until Tuesday. Oof.

Strange. The console review embargo ended on Monday and the PC version is finished (I just finished pre-loading the game on Steam). I don't understand why they would wait until Tuesday to send out review codes, unless something really is wrong with the PC version. Man, I hope not. I will remain optimistic.

I mean you may be 'true' in your view, but it's not at all hard to know why someone might say it doesn't make sense. How can a true Tomb Raider fan be happy about a Tomb Raider game that destroys everything that made the series great and pretty much guarantees we'll never see another game like the classics once and for all? In a field of crowded me-too third person action shooters, enters another lazy one, and we lose even the possibility of seeing a return of something that is genuinely unique as opposed to whatever this is? A tomb raider game with mostly only cheap optional one room challenge tombs, virtually no puzzles and no meaningful platforming? tetsuo, why would it be hard to understand?

I can totally understanding loving the game for what it is, but approaching as a Tomb Raider fan... is it really that difficult to understand why others might think it hard to accept that anyone who actually cared about the franchise as it was would be happy?

The key difference between me and most off the true fans is that I have played and beaten the game. You aren't lazy when you step into an arena and outclass most all of your highest regarded competition.

This is a broken record at this point but this is Resident Evil 4 all over again. It went over easier because that game reviewed like crazy weeks before it came out and it was revolutionary at the time. I hate to see the old games go. I just recently beat Underworld and I loved every moment but this new one is hands down a better game.

No offense but i have heard many people in TR forums over the years calling themselves "true TR fans" but when the question of what it was that they loved in the old games comes up many of them either say "Lara" or "atmosphere" or "raiding Tombs".

It has occured to me that the problem with this franchise is that you can ask 3-4 people what they loved about this game and they can all offer different answers. Some of them only stay at a superficial level of enjoynment enjoying things like Lara's character, the graphics or the atmosphere and the are other people who go a bit beyond this level and realize that it was the core mechanics of this game (precision platforming that was based on skill, level designs that were puzzles themselves, trial and error etc) that were the true "essence" of this game underneath all the superficial cosmetics like Lara.

So excuse me but i'm always a bit sceptical when someone says is "a true fan" of this series (as in someone who really understands what the game was about and wants to see these core elements transfer into modern games).

Now i'm not saying that you are a superficial fan yourself, but if you really loved TR for what it was (trully) about then you should also be able to realize that regardless if this game is a good one as a new IP,those core elements that you loved about this series have gone forever.

Stuff like this is why I played the old ones.

Preload done. I'm probably going to go through Splinter Cell Conviction again this weekend, another dumb third person shooter, to get myself in the right mental state for this game. It's short so I could probably finish it by tomorrow night.

Be sure to set it to the highest difficulty and play it blind to at least have a little bit of a challange in those modern games.

I could take my glasses off I guess. Even then I could probably coast through that game with all the auto headshots it has.

In... Splinter Cell Conviction?

I don't think I want to hear Michael Ironside in his throes of passion, ever.

Nah just reminding him to keep his volume under control for when Luddington arrives on his computer on Tuesday. He was concerned about her in-game hot moans and groans.
