Tomb Raider PC Performance Thread

So is there little performance impact on amd cards for hoverhair, only on nvidia?

If so: HAH, now you know what it's like you nvidia goblins! *raspberry* :p

Having played Crysis 3 for the past week, I'm amazed at how good Tomb Raider looks. The games runs perfectly at 57fps with everthing at Ultra, FX-AA. It's definitely one of the prettiest games I've laid my eyes on. Prettier than Crysis 3 I dare say. SPECS: 2600K@4.5Ghz, XFX 7970 Ghz. Dazzling hair effects I must add.

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics outdid themselves!

I remember someone saying that you couldn't change your graphics options in game so I just assumed that was fact.

After checking under the options, it turns out you can change graphical settings in-game afterall:

Are those the settings you are using? Does it run well according to your specs?

Any noticeable framedrops because of the hair?

What can I expect setting and hair wise on my i5 2500 and my new MSI 7850 1GB? It should be at least playable since the game came with the graphics card :p

Anyone with SLI run benchmarks with tressfx on yet? I'm wondering if my dual 670s can handle it.

Also is the steam version unlocking at midnight? Or is it one of those 1pm est releases?

Anyone with a 660ti running this? Of 670 and 680 owners are having issues, I dont have much hope but I thought Id ask.

660ti here and just crashed after getting out the cave. Popped on to GAF to see if anyone else had experienced crashing and I feel relieved (kind of?) to know I'm not the only one. Pretty bad that this is as common as it sounds. Hope it gets patched...

I do know it seems to be slogging the GPU more than any game I've played just because the fans crank up more than I've ever heard them.

I didn't see a need to try without the new TRESSFX as the framerate never dips below 55fps.
Very smooth and the hair does look amazing. Even the shadows the hair casts look good.

One this I must say is that this game will fry your graphics card. BF3 and Crysis 3 warm my GPU to about 71 degrees max. Tomb Raider is heating it up to 74-75 degrees on my slightly overclocked 7970@1100/1600.

Turn off tesselattion if you have it on.

Resolution? I'm assuming 1080p.

Don't have benchmarks but I have 680 sli at 2560x1600 and with everything max settings I'm getting 55-65 fps. Some dips to 55 but usually that's for a split second when I'm approaching a new section. Haven't gotten to the open jungle area yet though.

Edit: sli doesn't work yet so my above performance is technically on a single 680.

The only difference is that I have AA set to FXAA. I've played the game for about 20 mins and am getting very close to 60fps the whole time...and when it dips its as unoticable as it gets, no stuttering like I get with Far Cry 3. Hopefully I'll get the same performance once I'm outdoors.

I remember the hitman absolution crashes were solved turning OFF anti aliasing. Does anyone tryed this?

If so, just hope Square Enix will patch this very soon.........

But, I just can't believe they don't know the game crashes with Nvidia cards... But thez release it anyway.............. So lame.......

Review code for PC only went out today, whereas Xbox and PS3 code went out well over a week ago. I wondering if the reason is this - the PC version had late running issues.

All that mentions is added official support for SLI. No performance enhancements.

Am I interpreting it wrong? It says this:
Game Highlights
Increases performance for GeForce 400/500/600 Series GPUs in several PC games when
compared to the GeForce 314.07 drivers.
This is the GeForce Game Ready driver for SimCity, StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm,
Resident Evil 6, Hawken with PhysX, and Tomb Raider.

In addition to an added Tomb Raider SLI profile.

WTF is this? I bought this game from Origin 10 hours ago and I can't do anything! Not even preload it!

Changing VPN to US doesn't do a damn thing.

Anyone help??
