On another note, this article brings up something rather bothersome about Attack on Titan. The crass commercialism surrounding it.
It just feels a weird an apocalyptic story where anyone can die is heavily supported by merch.
I was thinking of the phrase "Too much of a good thing" not too long before the author brought it up themself. I gotta agree with his points, especially when he was bringing up Frozen as an example.

I mean, I like Eva, but that has some really weird choices for merchandise as well. We all know of the silly Gillette deal, but there's a freakin' official HUMIDIFIER. Like, who looked at this anime about giant robots, emo kids, & WTF endings & thought to themself "I can totally turn this into a humidifier & sell it!"

....then again, I guess it's better over Angry Birds branded coffee or HDMI cables.....

SPECIAL ONE NIGHT ONLY REVIEW OF TOONAMI

ONE PIECE- Yes, when I was doing this frequently this was basically the defacto number one. It still is.
SPACE DANDY: AMAZING. One of the best episodes of the series.
NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: Surprisingly good animation and like any episode where Naruto interacts with the minor characters it was grand. That Hinata bit slays me everytime.
BLEACH: Surprisingly strong after a bunch of weak episodes (and the pretty good final non-canon™ episode) even though its basically Jo-jo themed Vizored are they good no they are bad wait they are good nonsense.
NARUTO: Ino-Shika-Cho graduating from comedy background characters for one night only ruined by the Sauce's ultimate emo attack...though that is still a fairly memorable moment.
BLACK LAGOON: The last really great episode of the series. I don't really like where it goes from here.
COWBOY BEBOP: One of the weaker episodes of the show. Still better than everything that came after. Yep, it's that good.
GURREN LAGGAN: I've never been a huge fan of the first episode. The voice acting is also a bit off. SHA-MON. The series starts slow but man does it pick up.
ATTACK ON TITAN: Great backstory episode. Science lady might be crazy but her methodology and conclusions are sound.
FULL METAL ALCHEMIST:BROTHERHOOD: Not the strongest episode but some more nice bits and pieces of the back story. Things are brewing though at will hit a head next episode.
SAMURAI JACK: Weird episode. Glad I watched this on Monday instead as it would have put me to sleep Sunday morning.
STAR WARS:CLONE WARS: Had to turn off the tv because I remembered I needed to drive somewhere...and then spent the whole day goofing off with my relatives. Anyways, still better than Batman.
BEWARE THE BATMAN: Not actually that bad for the series. Above average really. Still puts it below a droid episode of Clone Wars. Yeah.

Saw Guardians. Good but I still prefer Thor 2.
GAF will now proceed to collapse upon itself due to my statement.

Thor 2 > Winter Soldier > Guardians > Avengers > Iron Man 3 > Iron Man > Thor > Iron Man 2 > Captain America > Hulk > (
Ant Man goes here
)
Jobbing at AM but the rest of my ranking is real

One night they should just have a bunch of shitty dubs in a row.
Garzey's Wing, Pilot Candidate, that one Yu Yu Hakusho movie where they called him "Kuwahara"

i have no idea why Funimation has not redubbed that movie.

as for AoT, i never really find that to be a problem limited to dark shows (really it's inevitable if something gets popular.) it annoys me in general to see that amount of commercialization. but beyond that, i don't think AoT sells its dark tone very well; you can't go for grim and then have every character ham it up as they scream their lungs out. i don't think the show crumbles because of this (though some people would say it does, and i wouldn't really argue with them on that point), it just creates this really weird atmosphere that's kind of unique but hard to take very seriously due to how over-the-top it is. like, to the point where i'm actually pretty surprised at how many people DO take it super seriously.

You certainly have a very... interesting opinion of Thor 2.

I'm a fucking sucker for fantasy space opera style stuff and the final fight scene was amazing.

Dance-off that didn't even go anywhere. Like if there was an actual dance off it would have been a much better movie

Also while I'm not going to pimp it the next episode of Shippuden is pretty good.

So is the one after it. The rest of the arc however made me tap out halfway through...twice.

Once when originally watching Shippuden subs as they came out hot and fresh each week and the other time on Disney XD.

I didn't hate Thor 2, but I wouldn't rank it over the first one, nevermind Guardians, the Avengers, or Winter Soldier.
And I would rank Iron Man 3 below everything else.

Not even sure what I'm looking at here. Thor 2 was probably a bigger waste than even Iron Man 2, which is one hell of a feat. Both are nothing but vehicles for other movies to look forward to and I can barely even consider actual films.

I preferred the fight in iron man 3 to the one in IM but tbh everything below avengers could go in any order besides hulk last.

Not bad for the ratings. Was hoping for higher numbers farther back in the block (especially for TTGL), but I'll take what we can get.

How in the world does a rerun episode of family guy have that kind of effect?

People love the crap out of Family Guy for some reason. Family Guy continues to be the highest rated show on Adult Swim even when some of the aired episodes are upwards of 15 years old.

For how late it is, I'm okay with GL's ratings. Hopefully will stay above 700k or at least 650k.

Going to be interesting to see the ratings for the AoT marathon. Just hope I don't fall asleep while watching it with my friend.

Family Guy is one of the ultimate, and cheapest "If the TV's on, it has to be on something" shows. There's no intertwined plot, it's a half-hour, it's not too serious or requires someone to really pay attention, and it's a hit with young'uns.

The percentage of people who are Nielsen families that fall asleep while Family Guy is on must be high. My dad does and since his room is adjacent to the bathroom I often heard Code Geass or whatever when visiting.

I imagine this was your dad when he woke up.

"Attack on Titans" :)

Is ranking #1 across "all targeted adults and men" better than just "adults and men 18-24/18-34" or whatever?

Guys, no reason to buy SAO. If you want Smut, buy Akiba Strip from last week. If you want a good game, Danganronpa 2 is out in a week or so

The Giantbomb quick look of Akiba really ruined any interest i had in that game, although it wasn't much to begin with.
