You missed some legendary posts yesterday. Too bad they are gone now. Too bad they are gone now. The posts were like TTGL finale x10. They were that good.

Pretty sure Funimation figured most people wouldn't be paying attention to the dub. & even know I know WHY it's lasted as long as it have, I still can't believe it's gotten so many damn spin-offs, sequels, OVAs, and all that.

Edit: oh hey I got the 3rd shift cleaning job at my movie theater & start tonight at 2 a.m. Still gotta figure out my set schedule, but at least this week I won't miss Toonami. Also manager said during breaks, they all watch Adult Swim.

Let us know when you go through the computer training that compares the founder of Meijer to Martin Luther King Jr.

WOW, seriously? Part of me wonders if I dodged a bullet working at Celebration Cinema instead of Meijer....though I have to say, it kind of feels weird considering I never imagined working at the theater, but I'll take it over working cashier at *insert fast food place here*. Plus my friend also works there so that'll help get used to things.

Also now I get free movies (so many per month, I have to see, but FREE RIFFTRAX AND STAR WARS AND DEADPOOL) & everything at the concession stand is $1.50 each. Even the largest of all the sizes you can get.

Edit: Actually, assuming my shift starts at 2 a.m. (could just be this week for training) instead of Midnight & I do have to work during Toonami, at least I'd only miss SAO2 & One Piece. Better than missing it all.

......also I somehow JUST learned that last Sept., minimum wage in MI was raised from $7.40 to $8.15, & then come Jan. will be $8.50.

Ask them to put Toonami up on an empty room that's done for the day. Get the full cinematic experience of Akame, Michiko, and SAO II.

Remember when Shard was vehemently against DBZ Kai on NuToonami, to say nothing of the lead slot? Peppridge Farm remembers :p

I think what's happening is that Resurrection F hype are causing people to be nostalgic for DBZ and tuning into Kai when they might not have or might not have know it was even on the air.

Unrelated:
*not sure how to feel when someone thinks SAO is a triumph of its medium and is older than you are.......different strokes for different folks I guess*

Especially with how we're getting right into the big showdown with Frieza. The movie really hit at the perfect time.

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
I feel like the ratings when we get to the first SSJ transformation are going to be godlike

As I recall Shard's argument wasn't that DBZ Kai would do poorly but that they should continue to go for fresh blood shows and that Toonami didn't need DBZ Kai to survive. His point wasn't wrong as we've seen shows like KLK, AgK, M&H, SAO2, and AoT all do extremely well on the block, but obviously dbz kai has only been a ratings asset and picking it up was the right move.

With the exception of Attack on Titan, all of those shows have been helped by DBZ premiering before them.

Here are some Shard quotes i was able to find from here

I doubt they will be able to wrest control of Kai from Nicktoons, and thank god for that.

Seriously, fuck DBZ, it isn't wanted nor is it needed, we have enough endless shonen to dine upon already.

When told it would bring in high ratings...

No, fuck that, Toonami needs to move past the shadow of DBZ.

So yeah, he was dead wrong and it's hilarious because Shard was so anti-DBZ. It's cool though, I was certain that Kill la Kill and AgK would never air on toonami without major edits and look how that turned out.

Still don't agree with the choice but I was never against it being in the lead slot.

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE

I was so mad at this shit.

Like, even if you're going to do camera angles like that, don't do it during scenes where you are trying to establish some emotional stakes for your story. Like half the time they do the ass shots in this show, it's when the female character is crying or opening up emotionally or something. It's insane.

The worst kind of 'fanservice'. Like, Faye Valentive sunbathing on the deck in a swimsuit is at least an activity that the character "decided" to spend her time doing.

Random butt shots just break the fourth wall in a stupid way.

Okay I'll say it: fanservice doesn't do anything for me. I mean, at the end of the day it's a fake 2D character that cannot be recreated in the flesh so I don't get the appeal. I'll say stuff like "bae" and "waifu" in reference to female characters but it is always jokingly. I get being attracted to cosplay of your favorite anime characters but getting worked up over a drawing? That is a foreign concept to me. I think this is part of the reason why I hate KLK's sexualized vibe for both genders and don't watch any of that ecchi stuff. I tried an episode of Ikki Tousen last night and will not be watching another because it was awful. Kenichi is probably the most 'lewd' property I've ever enjoyed but it didn't start off as softcore porn and I stuck around just to finish the story I had invested years of my life into.

sorry for the jumbled slightly incoherent thoughts

yeah, it's like you're watching this stuff that's happening, but you can't even concentrate on it because the camera guy is a gigantic pervert.

it feels.. creepier.

like as disgusting as Kill la Kill got, at least it mostly felt like everybody was in on the joke

SAO might as well have been called Creepshots Kai during some episodes

SAO is uncomfortable to watch not because of the adult themes, but the way they are handled. Things like rape, molestation, incest, etc serve no purpose other than to titillate a deviant portion of the audience. Throw in underage girls and some creep shots for good measure too and you've got a straight up creep fest. Kill la Kill does the same stuff too but somehow gets a pass for "not taking itself seriously" or some other lame excuse. What purpose did Ragyo constantly molesting her daughter serve? To make her want to wear clothes or some other life fiber related nonsense? It was completely unnecessary and came off as a sick form of fanservice in my opinion.

The war music video includes a small clip of AgK's best/main villain dubbed
Esdeath
for those of you who've either read the manga or watched the anime in Japanese.

I suppose the first hurdle is the seemingly strained relationship TOEI and FUNimation seem to be having these days.

Is it? FUNimation just finished airing DBZ RoF in US theaters dubbed which did huge numbers for an anime film in the us. Other then the fact buu kai is nowhere to be found despitie it clearly being dubbed is there any other evidence that Toei and Funimation have a strained relationship?

I have heard they had some scraps over One Piece things but what is more telling is that they don't have the rights to Dragon Ball Super right now and it being on legal streaming does actually speak to the changed nature of their relationship.
