Holy crap, wasn't it like 680K last week? Guessing word of mouth spread, plus the Toonami promo that aired during the rerun.

From August 3rd, 2013? Because that had 1,559,000, so DBZ Kai beat it by 5,000.
I think this is also the 3rd episode of DBZ Kai to surpass 1.5 million viewers, at least according to this.
DBZ has already dominated the top five individual total viewer ratings:
1. Dragon Ball Z Kai - Feb 28 2015 - 1,564,000 (12am)
2. Bleach - Aug 3 2013 - 1,559,000 (12am)
3. Dragon Ball Z Kai - Feb 21 2015 - 1,555,000 (12am)
4. Dragon Ball Z Kai - Jan 31 2015 - 1,513,000 (11:30pm)
5. Attack on Titan - Sept 20 2014 - 1,507,000 (11:30pm)
Could have all 5 of those spots before too long.

The bigger deal is that back 2 back weeks DBZ Kai has been top 3 ratings all time. DBZ Kai is truly a monster

Hot damn, the American Dad/ Family Guy lead-in was over 2,000,000 total viewers each - and DBZ Kai only lost ~500K total viewers? That's good. That's damn good.

I assume you meant Gundam Wing as that's the show with the build in nostalgia that the Toonami audience will eat up if it ever returns for an encore. G Gundam may be the better series but it's no where near as popular with the Toonami audience.
And yep, that DBZ Kai rating is the highest singular total viewer rating.
Those some damn good numbers, if only One Piece wasn't going into filler next week.

SAO is prrrrretty fucking terrible. Its basic world makes absolutely no sense, it's clearly written by someone who isn't coming from a place of knowledge, its characters (being generously labeled as such) serve only as props for its 12-year old boy power fantasy protagonist, and even its own internal moral basis is confused and makes little to no sense, up to and including the completely unwarranted forgiveness of a mass murderer for literally no reason at all.
And that's ignoring all of its other ...questionable attributes.
