Hate to say it, but halfway through my first viewing of Kill la Kill and isn't really impressing me. Definitely overhyped. The tonal dissonance really hurts this show for me. It's its most entertaining when it's just straight up Looney Tunes and not focusing on its vengeance plot.

Indeed it does. One of the few I prefer dubbed over sub, though I tend to prefer what I hear first, which a few exceptions (Kill la Kill, from what we've seen, I'd prefer dub despite seeing subbed first).

The industry has been producing good to great dubs for a long time. FMA is one of the better dubs that have appeared on Toonami, it just stands with alot of other great dubs.

I think it's safe to say most of the stuff Aniplex, Funimation, & perhaps Viz have dubbed has turned out well, especially these last few years.

Really, the only company where you could argue bad or "okay" dubs might not be the exception is Sentai.

I'd say the mid 2000s is when dubs started to get better because standards were higher and anime was starting to get more popular, plus the internet made it easier to get feedback on what people wanted to see and what they thought of the voice casting/acting.

Nostalgia is overflowing....Dear lord YYH is my favorite anime of all-time (yes, I like it more than Bleach) and screw anyone who doesn't like it.

One Piece Funimation on the other hand is pretty ace.

Funimation has done an amazing job with nearly every character in One Piece. The main cast is all ace. I think the last major characters we need to hear are coming up in the recent releases.

Kill la Kill is in my estimation the unlikeliest candidate for having a great dub I can think of in recent memory.

Kill la Kill (quality aside) also has an amazing dub thanks to doing Space Dandy route and actually updating the script to better translate to an english speaking audience.
