ToQGAF 2014 | Hanamichi! The Next Stop Is Imagination's Stage!

So, um, the latest scans for upcoming Drive and Movie War stuff is out and...

It seems Ryoma learned some lessons from his Hakaider experience. Honestly, I don't even care if his survival and roboticization is goofy, it's pretty much par for course for him.

Type Wild seems much better in the magazine scans than in toy form (though the big wheel is concerning).

And for Machine Chaser (don't even know if this should be considered a spoiler or not)
I like the gimmick of giving him semi-corrupted-looking powerups. Now I wonder how they're going to make the Drive/Chaser rivalry develop throughout the show.

The Rumble Dump, Mad Doctor's and Hooking Wrecker's wheel designs looks like they wouldn't work on Type Speed, so I guess each Drive Form will have its own Shift Car compatibilities?

The one with the other kit?

There was a pilot? Wonder why they didn't shop that around...

The one and only. That version looked a lot like it was going to be darker in tone than what we ended up getting. I think that version was shopped around before they changed actors for Kit. It had a whole lot of promise then and so did the show in its final form until they just bungled it. That was KR's 2nd & final chance in the states. I still think it would've fared a whole lot better on Cartoon Network seeing as it was right around the time they were in that "live action to save money on production costs" phase.

Actually the latest (in America) was 16 not 18. At least it's almost over (with no specials).

Typos happen to even me sometimes. All I remember was it was the 38th episode and 20+18 and all that. DINO CHARGE, SAVE US!

That last scene was a legit oh shit moment.

Every single member of that team is down with Belt-san. They'll reveal their true nature as the plot sees fit.

has anyone been having trouble with the drive torrents? none of the releases has been working for me.

I hope the chief turns out to be ProtoDrive. He can say something like "Shame on you for making an old man work so hard........henshin"

So is scientist lady evil or...?

And wait, classic KR getting US release? What's this talk about V3?

Am I the only that thinks Marvelous' battle cry should be translated as "Let's put on a show".
Rather than "Let's make a show of it" or "Let''s make it showy" (ugh, TVN).
It makes the most sense in English.

No, that's the exact way I think it should be as well. Have been thinking it for years now, wondered if it was just me.

I also personally think the "Listen to our Roar! (OT)"/"Wait until you hear!(TVN)" line from Kyoryuger works best as "Now listen to this!", which funnily enough I figured out by trying to re-translate parts of the show into Spanish.

I think "Hear our Roar" works since they're meant to be dinosaurs and all. Man... this is why Sentai/KR needs professional translations. At least Aesir's Fourze subs gave "Uchu Kita" an appropriate translation (Blast Off! as opposed to It's Space Time! [going by TVTropes])

Oh, ToQger vs Kyoryuger has been confirmed. Will be great to see the Kyoryuger cast one last time (at least until an anniversary season... maybe).

I really wonder what the official Zyuranger release will be like, and how it will influence future fan translations. For example, I can't think of any group that translates the word "Kamen" in Kamen Rider after Dragon Knight and W started using Kamen in their titles (as opposed to Masked Rider like before).

ToQger 34

That ending... you know, for kids!
Tokatti curb-stomping the monster was hilarious though.
Oh man, next episode. Two weeks...

Drive 4

So the Shift Cars have their own personalities? Huh, kind of reminds me of Go-Onger.
Shinnosuke's plan to find the monster was great though. Plus a bit of character development for Kiriko.
Rinna though... hmmm.

Drive sure seems to love doing weird body stuff. Dimension cab and Dream Vegas both do some odd stuff to his body. Reminds me of when W would split apart for his rider kick in Joker/Cyclone form.

These two should sooooooo get a movie together. Have Accel transfer to his precinct for a case or something.

I really hate W's kick for some odd reason.

I think quite a few staff members hated it too. Joker Maximum Drive has been basically replaced by Cyclone Maximum Drive in the recent crossovers, even though W never used Cyclone Maximum Drive in his own series.

The coolest Rider Kick is WAAAAAAAAAAAAKE UPPPPPPPP!

Then a fucking dragon pops out of a skyscraper and eats the monster's soul, because, you know, why the fuck not.

Very true. That Rider Kick is hype: the bat saying Wake Up, unshackles the leg, Kiva jumps into the air, it's suddenly nighttime, he forms a silhouette on the Moon....it's immense.

Eternal's kick is probably my favorite, though.

Skull's Rider Kick is always a winner in my book.

I am also a pretty serious fan of Kamen Rider Decade's Rider Kick. Say what you will about how the series fell apart and was short, but Tsukasa is awesome and his Rider Kick is great.

The lover dude in ToQ 34 remind me of Peewee Herman.

The Decade did in the penultimate episode against the charging monsters was so raw. I'm so glad Tsukasa keeps returning for these team ups.

The character was awesome, showing a bit of Tendou if you ask me. That rider card just oozes style with that frame by frame movement in the cards, eventually kicking his enemy to death. His belt is the best part of Decade, using a card gimmick that I am still a fan of to this day. Hell, I even bought the recently announced CSM Decadriver and the Rider Card set. I don't like the show, but Tsukasa/Decade was the only thing that mattered in the show.

Kind of a theory, but I think the point of Decade was to retcon several endings of certain Heisei riders to allow for future crossovers.

I think the point of Decade was
to just stall for time until W began the new yearly Rider cycle of premiering half-way through the year so that it doesn't compete with Sentai.

Im saying Decade sucked. But the first three episodes were ace.

I prefer Ryuuki's kick to Kiva's, but I've only seen Kiva in games and spin offs. Guess I have to catch an episode to really feel his finisher.

Nah. Back during Decade, they still seemed terrified of actually touching on the previous series. In the initial press conference for the show, the main producer, Shirakura, said that they were going with AU reimaginations of the past Riders because the past stories had ended and they shouldn't be continued. It was a position that he had also mentioned before regarding Agito and Kuuga (Agito wasn't officially a Kuuga sequel because Kuuga's story had ended and it'd hurt the meaning of Godai's fight). Even when past characters that seemed like the originals appear in Decade, they never specify what is their world or how it's connected to the other Riders (if it's separate or standalone).

Den-O's movies stopping making money seemed to quickly kill that position of his though, since it was after that happened that we started getting past Riders in crossover movies all the time. I wish we got another crossover tv show now, since the writers wouldn't need to spin things in very weird ways like what was done back in Decade, and they wouldn't try to force random AUs due to that silly reasoning.
